ffs, they dont need you to send anything back to nintendo at all, if youre interested in obtaining a stronger strap then you just apply for it and its totally free. You dont need to spend on anything, why do you call it a flop??? I call it proper customer service idiots.

Now, how about the issues about the xbox 360's overheating adapters, did microsoft even bother to replace them? hell no.. so stfu u farkin wanks, fanboys are the worst people in this planet.

Hahaha, great post Ikra, your use of language was spot on and if nobody can understand what you have just said then your right they are fucking idiots.

And just to throw in. 360 rules, WII rocks, PS3 sucks donkey bollocks.

given the choice between a system that overheats, a system that despite costing over $500, still doesnt look as good as the 360, and a system that has a strap that may or may not holdup against me swingings.......i do believe id go with the problem straps.  its so funny, nintendo haters are so eager to find something, (anything, more like), wrong with the Wii, that they actually compare the strap problems with some of the problems that both Sony and Microsoft have and continue to have, lol.

dont hate Nintendo because theyre winning, it may just be the spur that the console wars need to produce truly ingenius games and ideas for the next generation of consoles.  translation for the retards:  better games and new inovatative technologies for us.  kudos to Nintendo for thinking outside the box.

Actually, my buddy looked up the system specs of the Wii. That's what I think is going to make it crash. They are..... incredibly sub-standard.

Sub-standard actually is what essentially is the standard for today.

Blu-ray support?  Are families across america ready to toss out their DVDs?  No.

1080p HD support?  Do you think that many HDTVs have sold?  Do you think people really are going to spend 2000 dollars to upgrade their tv for a game system?

Why should Nintendo incorprate bells and whistles and ask a majority of its targeted user base to pay for said bells and whistles that won't be used by the majority of them? Blu-ray and 1080p is for the early-adopter/fad following fan boi who can afford those toys. Even if they are wealthy, it's a small segment. The wii fits this market (which effectively is every family with a TV) for the next 3 years. By then, newer video technology should have saturated the market and it would make sense to upgrade and the costs of implementing those bells and whistles will have dropped.

I think everything from the name to the strap should be recalled...

Well maybe you should be recalled. There is clearly a malfunction there... in contrary to the Wii.

Hated Zelda..... Cant wait to play it with the Wiimote though
Urghhh Mario.... Cant wait for its release

Even, assuming, that the controller is a Gimmick. What would you call Blu-Ray support and HDMI or whatever its called, and 1080p. Wouldnt they be considered more 'gimmicky'
And designing game systems, purely it seems, to have cutting edge graphics, wouldnt that be a Gimmick as well, if we are going to use the definition of the OP ?
    Now out of...
    -The WiiMote
    -Better Graphics (1080p)
    -Better Graphics (Blu-Ray)
-Better Graphics (HDMI... this could be the same as 1080p,  ive only read 1 article on it and none on 1080p, please correct me if i am wrong)
Which 'gimmick' seem more original and revolutionary here ?
PS3s calling of being 'like a PC".... well ive already got one of them.
And XBox360s promise of great graphics after you go spend 5grand(AU) on a TV
    BRING BACK GAMEPLAY GODDAMIT

Now, i want Sonic on Ninentdo, with the Wiimote, and my life shall be made whole :P

    well said.

ive been a nintendo "fanboi" my whole life. the only time i turned nintendo down was when it came to, do i want a PSP or a DS. i chose PSP, not to sorry but im happy with my decision. the remote being a gimmick, meh. what isnt a gimmick. its only a gimmick if it fails, and I think the remote is totally kicking ass. i waited 15 hours for my Wii and i dont regret it one bit. Nintedo has like, infinite possilbites with a wireless...everything, motion sensored on top of that! infinite possibilites. prolly just end up spending alot buying the new hardware that would come out for it.

There's alot of anger in this thread. From reading the original post, it looks like he's only saying that it's funny that there's a problem with the controler being flung at the tvs. Nowhere does he say the system is failing or is a flop. Nothing said Sony is better than Nintendo or Microsoft. Who can't find humor in people slipping and their wiimotes getting stuck in a Sony TV?

    Check this site out http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/

Since before the system came out, review sites have questioned the wiimote/numchuck design. The person who quoted the dictionary term of gimick actually supported the orginal poster's use of the word. The controller is a gimmick weather you like it or not, weather it works or not.

well, i never flamed you, but i did make a point of saying how funny it was that youre comparing a problem with a strap on the Wii mote with overheating problems and defective units.  as if theyre on the same lvl of problem.  you even went so far as to say that its a Wii recall (or Wiicall, lol).  which it is not.  and you made it sound like you think that the Wii is nothing but a gimmick.  which it is not.  so if people were flaming you, you might want to check to see why, instead of just writing them off as retards (aka flamebait).image

Wii was the first game system (outside of my PC) that I had any interest in and when the news of the straps breaking came out, my husband looked at his 62" TV and I knew the answer was "Not a chance in hell."  Yeah, he'd be a bit pissed if I bowled a controller into his TV.

Didn't read the whole thread, so someone else may have said it allready...the wrist strap was not "recalled." Anyone who purchased one can get a free thicker strap (new ones will automatically have the thicker strap). It's a voluntary thing, not an official recall (yet).

    -Ashyn

Edit: Finished the whole thread, and yep, others allready cleared up the "recall" matter.

They should recall Zelda and make it a challenging game instead. ^^

Just a question here, since I don't own one and haven't really looked at it I'm not sure of this, Does this strap have wires in it? Either way, why not just put some velcro straps on them or some bicycling gloves? The whole concept of the strap just seems like the mittens mom's would put on little kids so they wouldn't lose them. Maybe someone should make a bracelet with a wire holder (those little plastic things that look like -> +C ) you can find them in every electronics and some computer stores. Snap the wire in the loop while playing and that should help keeping them from flying.

I  bought my son a WII for Christmas... and I'll be sure to keep it hooked up to one of our old TV's.... don't care much about weak straps or people who send them flying... pretty sure he's still going to enjoy it.
