I was implying that laws need to be consistant. But whatever. I also didn't say to make it legal for teenagers to buy the alcohol, but to use it. Of course, that wouldn't make a huge difference. And I already said before, that it is simple to buy alcohol anywhere. It wouldn't make access to it easier, it would just make it legal to have access to it. Also, I said that it should be done over time. You can't all of a sudden just change laws, that doesn't work. One of my friends told me that his mom asked him to try a chocolate Swisher Sweets. A few people I know smoke with their parents.
One girl at my school last year died of alchohol poisioning, basically everyone in my 8th grade class drank on a regular basis. Oh, and my parents have a beer/wine stash in our basement.
The drinking age dosen't really stop kids from drinking beer, it just stops them from buying it. :P

But, your butt is going to do some time in a cell, and you're going to lose your license till your 21. My father lost his eldest brother (an uncle I never got the chance to know) because some scumbag decided they could it make it home after some drinks. I remember times I'd sit and listen to my grandmother talk about my Uncle. She'd mostly smile at the memories. But, at times I'd catch the trailing off of her words, and the distance in her eyes, as the feelings of loss and anger began to percolate up from that tragic night. If it were my own personal choice, the drinking and driving age would be 19 or even 20. Technically, in the US, since the age of majority for most states is 18, all adult privilages should begin at that age, drinking, driving, voting, gun ownership, self-insurance, selective service, inability to be claimed as a dependant, etc.

I agree completely with harsh laws against intoxicated drivers, and technically it is a state issue. What the government does to keep the states in line with its own ideals is it cuts all grants to the state untill they change their laws. Thats how it has always been.

What they need to do is make it so you lose you drivers licences permanetly for DUI. Like in France. They do not drive drunk over there because if you have a DUI you lose your licences permanetly.

lol, yeah, I got "loopy" before a retired AP us history test that was going to be my final exam. My grade of a 70/80 (was a 113 when ajusted to the 100% scale) was only surpassed by my brother's 72/80 (was 115)

There is a bit of diffrence between that. fight and die for your country is your own choice. you put yourself in danger, and you alone. however, when driving drunk, you put other people in danger as well.they didn't ask for it. and like somebody else mentioned, many have unsafe sex when drunk.

lol, yeah, I got "loopy" before a retired AP us history test that was going to be my final exam. My grade of a 70/80 (was a 113 when ajusted to the 100% scale) was only surpassed by my brother's 72/80 (was 115)

Because before that teenagers is even allowed to touch a gun, he has been through LOADS of training. a teenager can't make that decision. a military trained teenager can.

What we are talking about is the fact that at 18 years old you can be drafted into the military. It has nothing to do with volentarily joining the military and then going through training and what not, but has to do with being drafted.
