Was reading Billius8 comment on eq2 and what he thought it should be changed , well i thought he was suggesting silly little ridiculous changes that do not really change anything , merely just adjusting it to his liking, there were not any big plans at least not in a large scale...
When you talk about games you need to think of few things
1 Fun
2 Motivations
3 Rewards
4 Game plays
5) Time wasting
6) Socialising
A) Talking about fun yes game has to be a fun to play , with a good story line , and quest that will keep us interested , kill 10 snakes , kill 20 rats etc .. this kind of quests are boring and players will get bored quickly
They would need to look at other games and learn and adopt some things that worked well for others.
Like dnd got nice quests with traps, puzzles, bosses etc why not use it make that ROGUE USEFULL etc...
Crafting why limit on just one trade skill, why not let people learn all trade skills if they want,,,
maybe because you want people to trade , fine then just make it harder , for instance , you cant learn another trade skill till you reach level 50 in current trade skill , so it will motivate people to craft more in order to get another one, or something like that , make it harder or make them pay lots of money for another one but never limit the game...for people will get bored ,
most people leave the game because they cant be bothered to start it all over again ,,, and current game does not give you option to diverse....
2) Motivation ,, Everything we do should be for a reason and that should also lead to a reward .......
Any item in the world should have a reason to exist ,,, it does not matter how minor it use is, and it should be desirable by player or whats the point...
3) PVP ,,, all those titles like slayer champion etc ,,, whats the point ,,,, why should i run around killing low level characters and giving them a grief just for a sake of getting a title.....
If while you are having a title you also get some extra skills or extra strength to go with it ,,, yes then I would find the idea of pvp attractive , dont you think that someone who killed 100 peeps on line deserves to be more skilled then someone who never killed anyone ,,,,, thats why you get a title in the army ,for your skills and strength that other solders do not have.....
4) When player is killed in pvp he should be sent back to his home town .... why?
if there is a FP player in Antonica killing your low levels guild mates , you will want to go out there and free your land of them , and that would be fun you could even design a quest on how many enemies you driven out etc...
otherwise when you kill PC you just send him to different location in your land to respawn and keep killing around there,, so where s the point in that ,,, motivation for pvp becomes pointless , unless you feed on peoples grief and talking few coppers ,,yes i know there is a minor exp with it but still not attractive and clever enough ....
People could ague that sending killed back to their hometown would be annoying for people in groups always waiting for a member to come back ..... here is when you introduce another skill/spell the same like in asheron's call ....and have your priest or mage have ability to summon a group member to their current location ..... this would again encourage people to group together.......
Eq2 needs more pvp flavour and excitement, for example something like conquering and controlling the land...
imagine that those two keeps in Antonica gnoll slayer and Arden needle keep were key points for controlling the land, if free port ride comes and kill solders in there , they have a option to take over put their flags and solders ...
in this case they would control Antonica and all FP players would have an extra point on all their skills in this land ..
this would give extra things to do ,it would make a game more fun, reason to group , reason to pvp, reward for pvp, and it would make a land feel alive , for there would be constant changes based on player actions...and people would want to control lands in order to get extra skills...... or you could also make it that, if players control the land , they dont get sent back when they get killed in pvp combat ....
Time wasting.......
Some people have very few hours to play ,,, thats why they play wow ,,,,,,
eq2 needs more of your time , but still it could be made faster and less time waste consuming...
Faster horses...... i never wanted one for they just seem to be useless......
Exploring should be done only once and after that you should be able to get use of portal or some other transport ... whats the point walking long distances ....over and over again ....
Socialising,,,, Guild hall .... Every guild needs a house or a hall where anyone can instantly summon,,, for a meeting or a quest starter ,, a place to fool around and talk and interact with your guild mates ....
That was one of the best features in AC2 ,, that everyone could instantly summon back into their guild for meetings ,,,it was a loads of fun seeing 50 members seated on benches and talking and discussing with a monarch /guild leader face to face

Thanks, you are welcome to suggest that ,,
I love eq2 and played it from the beggining and you must confest its different game nowdays , for it keeps improving and getting better , where wow is still the same and even new pack coming soon is just more of the same with just one extra playeble race ....
I love eq2 and would love to see it getting more depth and being more exciting .....
Haha, for me it would be a raid-free server (with all the raid loot awarded in grouping or merchants like LDoN of course).
However, in the case of EQ2, it is sooo anathema to their core design and would require soo much work, I will never expect them to do that.
Idem for old EQ! However, in the case of old EQ, the uproar would prolly be terrible on the regular servers, as peoples who earn stuff by raiding see an "easy" server come up. Wouldn't advise them to do so, after all these players sacrifice...unless they want to change the NGE complaints and get something nastier, I mean, if they are really masochists! Can you see the rumble of 50k peoples on welfare unhappy and trolling the forums with massive hatred (I assume the majority and the non-welfare would be more quiet)? That would be terrible!
For any new game such servers have no negative impacts on the other servers, since it is present at launch. But for peoples who complains about slight balance issues between Knights and Warriors after YEARS of doing that...I just shiver at the though.

Reasons i left eq2 (which has to do with "What does EQ2 really need"
- Making tradeskills far to easy. At the start you needed other players to get stuff made. Yes people were abusing the system with ridicolous pricing but in time the players would have taken control themselves. Tradeskilling now is a single player game without the need of other players
- Raid items were far to easy to obtain. And a lot of raid dungeons were the same layout, just different mobs in it. While i dislike DDO i must say the dungeons they have should be an example for SoE.
- Far to easy to get xp and reach max level. All left is to make an alt and follow the same route as they first char you made.
- People all look almost the same.
- PvP came afterwards and they had still problems with it when i left the game. (playing lineage 2 now for the PvP)
oO man, if they would put some of DDOs dungeons in this game that would b soooooo awesome.
from what ive read and heard, lineage 2 has some of the best pvp in the market.
