    Then how do you prevent games with progression from feeling ridiculously easy where you're strongly encouraged to only try things you're nearly guaranteed to win?  For example, PvE in most MMORPGs.
    No clue, I don't play those games. They're already marginalized to the point where none of it matters anyway, so I'm sure it would work out great. Generally speaking, If someone purposely takes the path of least resistance because a challenge hurts their 'progression' when they fail. Then I give no shits.

    It's just another step in narrowing the gap between people who can, people who can't and people who won't. Kind of like the modern day school system.
