  • Will Camelot Unchained ever effing release?

I hate to be the one to say it but there will never be any better camelot game than daoc.
It's impossible to know until after CU launched, but it will certainly have very interesting elements that DAoC didn't have (afaik):
    - Very large scale battles (600+ players) with solid FPS
    - RvR-based progression - deemphasized PvE grind
    - Dynamic maps that change according to players' actions
    - Server-based physics
    - Complex construction / destruction system
    - Skill crafting
    - Awesome forests and much more =P

This is a very important list, and everyone should study it.

CU is DAoC for the new age: destructible buildings, emphasis on crafting as in current survival games, player-changed world. Advances in tech bring new physics and a huge increase in possible players per fight.

Nostalgia can be a good thing, but only if you're advancing into the future.
  • Taking Shape - An Interview with Brad McQuaid & Chris Perkins | Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen | MMORP

Yep, if you want a personal story, play a single person RPG. There is just no way personal story in an MMORPG can be as good as that. In fact, most suck (looking at you GW2). The only time personal stories don't suck, is when they are not really personal stories (the LOTRO epic quest line).
  • Is making all zones immediately playable good for mmo's?

The biggest plus of scaling is that it allows you to play with friends no matter what level they are. In my opinion that more than outweighs diminishment of the sense of progression.

Modern MMOs need more things that make them social, not less.
