  • Bioware to Talk Solutions to Improve & Build On the Game - Mass Effect: Andromeda -

How about releasing games when they are ready - you have the budget and the guaranteed sales. The best way to guarantee future sales is to release polished products.
  • The Legion Pre-Patch and My Return to Azeroth - Bill Murphy

I just can't find any interest in this expansion, even though I'm glad they are focusing on the Burning Legion. WoD was pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
  • Does Star Citizen deserve its hate?

It's been 5 years and there are legit concerns regarding whether they'll ever get the engine to do what they promised.  There are also legit fears about whether they'll have enough money to complete it if they iron those issues out.

At this point, every month that goes by without it being delivered makes it look worse.

SC is likely hurting other crowd funding projects based on how poorly its been managed and how sleezy CR is.
  • Is It Just TOO Chill? - No Man's Sky Column

I've been watching streams of NMS and it's simply not for me. At least not at a $60 price point. the lack of real multiplayer is definitely a turnoff. and despite how rare it was supposed to be for people to run into each other, two people were able to and the game didn't support actually showing other players standing next to each other or one of them destroying stuff. That reeks of false advertising as there are clips of Sean saying you could see other players, it would just be a rare occurrence.
  • From Mod to MOBA – How Blizzard is Breathing Life into a Stale Genre

Both Blizzard and Valve were late to pick up on this burgeoning genre. Valve has a history of hiring mod makers for things like Team Fortress and counterstrike, whereas Blizzard tends to miss the boat and not really reward mod makers in any way.

HOTS is a good entry for the casual and they work hard at balancing it. but it will never catch LoL and DOTA2 in popularity or as an esport.
  • Five Reasons to Check Out Marvel Heroes Omega a Columns at

5 reasons not to check it out:

    1) Gazillion has gone from being one of the most communicative and interactive studios to becoming just another studio focused on profits and PR

    2) The people that were responsible for the game improving so much are gone - David Brevik and Doomsaw

    3) They don't let PC players transfer ANYTHING they've already purchased on PC even though it is essentially the same game

    4) They are all over the place with end game design and basically halted improving the PC versions endgame in order to devote most of their resources to the console port - something Blizzard and GGG didn't do

    5) They've misled PC players into thinking the BUE on the PC was a top priority when it is clearly on the backburner thanks to the console port.
  • Elysium 'Private Server' Shuts Down Temporarily Due to Financial Shenanigans - World of Warcraft - M

their sketchiness was revealed over 6 months ago. such a sad state of affairs Vanilla WOW is abandonware at this point imo so I have no issue with private servers, I'd just prefer more transparent ones and preferably not those run by russians
  • Soloist Mione Does It Again - This Time Gul'Dan Falls in Nighthold - World of Warcraft Videos - MMOR

    That's super impressive imo.
  • New Ship - Introductory Price of $850

I have a picture of a bridge to sell you...

    1. its not a purchase its a donation.
... "PS - promise this will be your some day, xoxo, Roberts."
to be fair, it could very well turn out to be better than anything Electronic Arts has ever done.
    how about that idea?
Why step from one extreme to the other?....

because its been working that is why.

I dont know if SC has been working or not but I am telling you the non-publisher approach as been gangbusters crazy mega successful. It has literally made my gaming experience in this era the best ever in my 37 years of gaming. So as such, until there is massive failure I say lets give new ideas (instead of old bad ones) a chance.

more over, you do believe in market principles when it comes to entertainment products? if its not going to work people will not buy them. that is economics 101

meanwhile I am playing Empyrion - Galactic Survival  thank you very much

I agree. Non-publisher approach sounds awesome. It IS awesome. Until someone comes and ruins it for everybody.....
I had to stop right there. SC is one fucking game, if they tank it not going to have much of an effect on the successes or future success of what is happening in the industry today.

we cant go around micro-managing every developer in the industry in some anti-capitalist approach because we are afraid that one fucking game could ruin all of them because of the cost of a digital item
If SC shuts down before meeting their promises, it will have a catastrophic impact on the high budget crowd funded video game market.
  • Activision Granted Patent that Pairs Players to Increase Microtransaction Purchases - General News

The fact that an idea like this can be patented is absurd. But I'm well beyond shock at how far developers will go to get people to buy stuff
