"Nice" record EA achieved there. My condolences.
You may like or hate EAs decision (I personally hate it) but I can't say I am surprised at all.

The way of price building for computer games are actually a relict from the past and remind me somehow of socialism or communism ( I know you U.S. guys condemn those ideologies but not everything is bad about them, just as not everything about capitalism is bad or good). Everyone pays the same and gets the same product with all features. I actually liked that approach because when it comes to playing I want to be at the same level as everone else playing but let's be honest ... that is really, really un-capitalistic.

The future will look like this (and already does for many games, it's just a step by step process supported by DLCs, season passes, cash shops, loot boxes etc. pp.). The general crowd gets the base game. To get the "complete" game you have to pay more. Much more. Why ? Because they can ask for that money and people will pay for it. Look how it is done with other products. There are base products for everyone, superior products, premium products... That's capitalism. You squeeze the maximum out of every market segment.

At the moment many game developers keep the feature that you can get additional features by just playing the game. Usually you have to play the game for so much time that it either becomes a boring grind or it's not doable for anyone with a real life. That hurdle will be increased more and more in future I guess.

TL;DR Computer games are not different than other products. The times where every Jack and Joe had the same game for the same price are over. It was a slow and long process but inevitable.

    P.S. And I still don't like it. ;)

The truth is 90% of those crying on Reddit about this would have found something else to cry about.  Today its loot boxes everyone cries about so they can get up votes, a year ago the kewl phrase was p2w, the year before that it was every AAA company is evil.

The truth is forums official, reddit and even random forums like this those on these forums are the minority of gamers.  You go over to this thread on reddit and these idiots (yes thats what they are) are calling for a revolution in an effort to force 'another' video game crash.  The truth is video game sales continue to increase year after year and will continue to no matter how much they cry.

The state of the video game (forums) community is at an all time worst.  The only thing that needs to happen is to have a crash of forums.   Before a developer gets rid of loot boxes I can see them getting rid of forums and having a dialog with the community because yes today most on forums are entitled, pathetic arm chair developers.  Those are the facts it may be hard for some to accept, it may not be the kewl thing to say on a forum and it may not politically correct to say but in the end it doesnt matter its 100% fact.

The best thing about this post is that everything you've said is actually 0% fact.

The community can make a difference. That was proven with the Xbox One. Microsoft were forced onto the back burner until they sorted things out and, even though they have fixed the issues and the Xbox One is a fine system now, they are still suffering from what happened at the start.

No actually everything I said is in fact 100% fact.  The xbox sold more xbox one at launch than they ever did prior.  Just because the PS4 had better sales doesnt mean the xbox suffered.  Hey if you are going to try and fail to call  fact false you may not want to add fake facts to your own post.

Also my post clearly states now.  The forum community is 100X worse than it was back in 2012-2013 when your little xbox thing happened.

The Xbox One sales were a hell of lot less than what they predicted and budgeted for. That is a failure in the business world. It's not about whether they made money, it's about whether they made as much money as they thought they would.

My point, though, is that without the controversial decisions they made it would have been more successful and the community, that according to you doesn't matter one bit, totally changed the whole system and the way Microsoft operates.

Anyway, I can see there's absolutely no point in trying to talk to you. You just spouted out a load more 'non' facts and are on the defensive regardless of whether you're right or wrong.
Oh I get it you don't like being embarrassed by facts.  So I will just put this here for you.  Yeah 'non' facts ok little buddy whatever you say.

    https://news.xbox.com/2013/11/23/xbox-one-biggest-launch-in-xbox-history/

Another fact well 'non' fact for those like you who dont like facts.  Microsoft stock prior to release was $35.5/share  after release Shares when up to $38/share.  Now sure not all of this is contributed to the xbox sales but if they were as bad as your 'non' facts claim they are then its safe to say their stock would have fallen.  Even today after the release of the X their stock took a jump sitting at $83 man the Xbox sure did destroy Microsoft lol.  Seriously buddy you really need to stop getting your information from video game forums.

BTW clearly the Russian bots are at play here.  It went from 47k which is still impressive to 200k in under 6 hours.  Pretty suspect if you ask me.
While you're researching this obvious attempt by Russia to influence our democratic forums please also see if you can find those missing Emails and a certain dossier...

I'm in the minority here, but none of this bothers me in the least. I played the beta and had an awesome time so I pre-ordered it, it's that simple. Nothing that has happened since then has caused me to change my decision. They addressed the P2W accusations but now people are upset that there is a grind for Heroes. I didn't use Heroes very often in the first game and feel that as OP as they can be they should require a heck of a grind to obtain.

To each their own though, if the company's business plan doesn't sit right with you then by all means avoid the game.

Its new norm in video game forums, I would bet most of the 200k (bots) that downvoted the post had no intention to ever buying it.  Cry cry cry and get those upvotes/agrees.  People need attention and the need to feel included they get it from reddid/forums and sites like this.  Its sad but the truth.

Again, no point talking to you. No idea why you've turned this into a discussion about the Xbox. Showing a PR post from Xbox themselves means little. The gaming industry boom is the reason for the biggest launch. Hell, everything is the biggest launch since the industry is growing rapidly. They also launched in more countries/regions at once than they did with the 360, which slowly launched in them over the course of 3 years. It was obviously going to be a bigger launch.. because... it was a bigger launch.

I'll say again, my 'point' is that the community changed the Xbox One. Yes or no?

No it isn't over because when people actually stop to think why they play games there is no other way to do it than that even playing field. The idea that sells the current loot-box and cash shop heavy model is a decidedly non-gaming idea that is more about status symbols and how people socialize online.

It is something that is being progressively over-emphasized in games and the backlash against it is growing and gaining steam as the companies get more aggressive with it.

It's not like there aren't plenty of games that continue to do it in a fair way. It's really only the AAA studios releasing installments of franchises that are getting more and more predatory... and it's starting to and will continue to bite them in the ass.

The backlash is real and it's building momentum.

You still haven't mentioned one fact in your original post by the way. You can go on as much wikipedia as you like now to try and prove you know how to copy facts but you can't really backtrack it now. Also notice I haven't said anything is fact, just what wasn't.

There is only one kind of acceptable micro transaction , cosmetic ones only and not only that, but make sure the game has enough diversity that one doesn’t have to use the cash shop, to stand out or look good. Like Overwatch for example, it’s cash shop is in the background and doesn’t affect the game at all. There are plenty of skins available without spending more money, but if you want you can spend. These games with equipment and content locked behind cash shops are just sad, we could have had a decent game but instead they embedded this unacceptable practice of cash shop items that prey on weak minded folks.

Yes or no?

Actually this is a conversation about who has real facts and who has 'non' facts.  So get ready for another REAL FACT.  The Xbox one and xbox 360 launched in about the same countries the Xbox one didnt launch the other 29 New Markets until Sept of '14.

Yeah they improved their console based on feedback but where you went 'non fact' is with this line
"Xbox One is a fine system now, they are still suffering from what happened at the start" which is 100% false.  Again this isnt about the Xbox this is about your lack of understanding facts.

You're confusing suffering with struggling. It would have been bigger and more successful if they hadn't pissed of the community at the start. That is why they have suffered.

You still haven't mentioned one fact in your original post by the way. You can go on as much wikipedia as you like now to try and prove you know how to copy facts but you can't really backtrack it now. Also notice I haven't said anything is fact, just what wasn't.

Anyway, can you now agree that the community can make a difference if they really try?
I never said Developers wont listen to legit criticism.  I said it won't impact sales or create the next video game crash like you guys think thats my point.  I do think due to the cesspool those like you make forums those with legit criticism will soon be without a place to express it.

Everything is 100% fact in my original post.  You crying oh its 0% fact with tears running down your face wont change that.

Will do...I am not on the bandwagon here and it has clearly upset some of the more 'seasoned' posters.

Sorry $$$ > forum tears.  There is no sign that complaints on forums are impacting the sales of these 'predatory' games.

I find it absolutely amazing how EA is consistently tone deaf on what players want.

I was looking forward to this game but this greedy move of theirs has turned me off.  I will refrain from purchasing until they remedy this.

How is posting about sales not impacted by the hysteria surrounding a forums controversy on a thread about a forum controversy off topic?

I guess we will have to revisit this once it releases hmm...If the stock stays below the Nov 1st high I guess you guys got yourself a win.  If the stock goes above the Nov 1st high well you can notch  yourself another loss.

If they get away with all this and the game is a massive success then there is no hope for the future of gaming. This is the make or break moment.
Hopefully more sites cover this and spread the word. They changed their tune last time due to the out cry, hopefully this hits harder.

If you cannot see how posting about ME:SoW on Steam is off topic in a thread about EA and Battlefront 2, nobody on this Earth can help you.

Haha! No one is upset buddy, don't flatter yourself. One person who clearly has a problem with gaming forum culture isn't ruining anyone's day, don't worry.

    About that...

"The reason this works is two-fold: 1. Journalists who cover the initial outrage feel that, ethically, they have to post the follow up but probably aren't going to do the research to figure out if the changes are substantial or effective at fixing the actual issue. (Edit: I've started seeing articles pop up already about the "changes" and at best, all they do is parrot the good research that various Redditors have done.) 2. Loyal fans who get fed up with it and decide not to buy the game are desperately searching for a reason to forgive EA so they can play their neato shooty game so they'll take any crumbs they are given."

Good reddit thread form a PR professional about "making the outrage outdated."
