Hi. I was thinking about replaying AA on new servers.
My question is on the subject of p2w. Does the game continue with the p2w system to be competitive? Can a player take more than 3 land to resell? .

Those who play now have been affected because someone has lots of land and you do not find a place to be able to your first farm.
Being level 55 fights of gvg, pvp or faction always dominate those who abuse by selling apex.

I currently play Gw2 but I like archeage for the variety of things you can do. Fishing, trade, crafting has no comparison with Black desert which is the most similar to AA

I played solidly for a long time, quit and went back recently. It's exactly the same pay2win model.
The only real differences was there's so much land available now, new areas r empty with hundreds of plots. I'm not saying the player base is down, just that there's now so much land lol.
It's easier to craft delph weapons etc now but RNG still kills the game :(  New houses look amazing though.
I really hate how it shows gearscores. basically u know who's gonna win before u fight lol.
I quit again as its just so pay2win and rng is a terrible model.

Archeage isn't Pay 2 Win, its Pay 2 Enjoy & Pay 2 Advance faster, and Yes it will become the exact same way, not tto mention Trion screwing people over constantly by changing Rulesets, and allowing same faction griefing & Trolling...

Arche Age was good but Trion ruined it, big times, and yes I basically gave up all my land over there we are talking 3X Fully built Tree Houses, 2 Mansions, 5+ Upgraded Thatched Farm Houses, and 24 or so actual 24x24 farms  I just left Arche Age because of Trion and gave all of it away.

Oh and I forgot One of each crafting house in the game.

Great game ruined by Trion, the Greed, and XL Games making core changes to the PVP Ruleset, and allowing same faction Griefing.

FORCED PVP among Guilds should have never been put into the game (Even With Peace Treaty) it should be consent only.

http://steamcharts.com/cmp/304030#All  Although its not entirely accurate this shows the decline as well.

Oh and another thing that sucked was how Trion decided to release items to people who buy X amount of gold exclusive items instead of sticking them in the cash shop or rewarding to anyone who bought gold within that same month they flat out would screw over someone who spent $300 the day before and not give them the exclusive items... A big thing that turns me away too.

    The game is over.
Head on, even if there is nothing comparable out there.
The damage that ArcheAge did to me, was far bigger then i thought.
I literally stopped playing any mmorpg.
On the one hand all other games are trash related to ArchAge, on the other they all focus milking instead of entertaining the player.

The mmorpg industrie is broken by greed.

The allow same faction griefing now damn I had always in my head thought they had a good system well that impression has swiftly been thrown out the window.

This game is the purest form of Pay 2 Win that you will find. Direct conversion from cash to credits to gold for buying weapons and armor off the AH. There is also plenty of third party RMT-ing going on. There's even a closed down casino in Mirage Island due to US gambling laws. The competitive players who aren't P2W usually have several accounts feeding into a primary account. This game is so dependent upon equipment, that it encourages you to spend real cash. It's definitely not for casual players - unless you spend plenty of cash.

Trino has done nothing to address the systematic problems with the server imbalances and player imbalances. It's common for one guild to own every castle on a server and dominate all open world content. The priority is the cash shop. If you complain about it on their forums, they ban you. There's always a burst of activity when they release a fresh start server, but the enthusiasm quickly dies off when the same old issues keep coming up. A MMO pump and dump.

I'm liking 3.5 . I have to say it is everything a mmorpg player wants in a Fantasy setting.

I wouldn't call Arche Age Pay 2 Win, however I consider it under two different categories...

    1.) Pay 2 Advance Faster
    2.) Pay 2 Enjoy

Meaning you can always get high end gear, the question is do you want it to take 100 years to get the best in the game or instant?

The game is still the same as before I had Several accounts on this game ended up giving everything away thousands of gold worth of stuff and left because Trion did Fresh Start Servers, forced PVP in game where it shouldn't have been allowed and peace treaty / hero bullshit...

Before that Arche Age was halfway decent, Trion and XL games are the problem.

I logged into Arche Age this year and saw that my server everything I built was completely uprooted and gone, we are talking about 5 Lands per account at 24x24, and Several Accounts holding 5 lands on each all updated btw so it was a massive amount.

Game has way too many daily events that are basically required and you need to be constantly aware of the time. Worst is, these events mean less people trade running, and less boats on the ocean.

Game also has such a huge gear ceiling to encourage spending by stretching the grind out much longer than is enjoyable.

Working your land went from fun to tedius with how much land you actually need to make any headway, you will be farming A LOT.

Dungeons are almost a requirement to initially gear-up, they aren't particularly fun and are instanced, which again takes people out of the open world.

Those saying archeage is not P2W, what game you play or what definition of p2w are you all using.

The game directly converts cash into gold which is used to buy the best stuff in the game. Half the upgrades are only available from the cash shop.

Archeage is a great game that is destroyed mainly by trions horrific cash shop model and the devs slow content updates. The game has great depth, good class system, one of the best economies I seen, Trading is good, ship content is good, housing system is pretty good, honestly it feels like a mmo instead of a online solo player rpg like 90% of the garbage being released now.

Problem is the wall you hit and it is nearly insurmountable without a very thick wallet and the fact 1 or 2 guilds actually can prevent you from doing 90% of endgame.

You can get to 4k GS without too much work... then it will take 4 things to get to the TRUE endgame tier of gear 6k+.

    1) About $1,500-$3,000 CASH.
    2) Hitting the jackpot, talking about in the 0.5% chance range.
    3) 2yrs of 30hrs a week game time.
    4) 10+ Alts all with you paying $15/month each for patron.

To be blunt you cannot beat the whales. They simply will outgear you horribly, they team up with other whales which locks you out of the content to get money. They will pirate you and take the stuff that makes you money. And all you can do is sit there and get 2 shotted by someone who is 3k gear score above you, simply to hear them tell you to "Get Good".

Dont think this is Trion fault. You can check my last comment in this thread http://forums.mmorpg.com/discussion/458719/im-playing-archeage-despite-all-the-hate/p8 where i describing russian servers and their publisher.

I picked the game up a little while back, and am having a lot of fun. I stayed away from it for a while because of many of the kinds of comments I see in this thread, and elsewhere. I should've kwown better than to let forum posts influence my actions to the degree I did, frankly. But that's on me.

After speaking to a few long-time players, watching them play, watching chat/discussions in-game, and my own experiences so far, I can tell already that the people complaining about P2W are the usual crowd you'll find in these games. They're a very specific group of players, speaking from an aggressive  "go go go, faster faster faster, now now now" type of playstyle. Their entire existence in-game is bent on "being better than the other guy", by any means possible, whether in PvE or PvP (I knew folks in RL who were like this in both areas, and I still find it hard to believe they were so serious about it) For them, the Win is all that matters; it's the only reason to even log in.

As is typically the case, those who claim you have to spend like crazy to remain relevant or competitive are talking about competing at a level most people aren't even interested in and couldn't care less about.

Thing is, this isn't just Archeage, nor just F2P MMOs. The same crowd exists in B2P and even P2P MMOs.

Hell, it happened before cash shops were even a thing in the West. I remember years ago, in the mid 2000s, when I was playing Lineage 2, people talking about how there were basically two versions of the game. In one version, hyper-competitive players (aka overly-concerned with other people's pixels) botted and spent obscene amounts of real money to "stay competitive". In the other, everyone else whom simply enjoyed playing the game at their own pace, and enjoying the content. One group rarely ever interacted with, or was affected by the other. It literally may as well have been two different clients we played on.

Of course, it was always the wallet warriors complaining about how L2 was impossible to be competitive unless you spent tons of time and RMT'd adena (gold), to buy the best gear, the best enchanted weapons, etc. Meanwhile, everyone else managed just fine without fretting over all that.

I saw the same thing play out in FFXI, and that was pretty much an entirely PvE game, with PvP being relegated to an inconsequential, isolated side activity.

I had a friend who was part of a group in FFXI and later in WoW who were like this. Their entire purpose for playing was to be hyper-competitive and be better than everyone else, by any means necessary. They could not fathom playing it any other way, and would mock those who didn't play the way they did, myself included.

This same group of players exists in any MMORPG you go to, and they will always have the same mindset, and make the same kinds of assertions about their respective game. Every time.

People say you can't enjoy Archeage without spending money, potentially a lot... yet there are people on free accounts, or maybe a patron account, whom are enjoying it just fine. Are they progressing as fast as others? No, but their playstyle doesn't require them to. They log into the game, do the things they enjoy doing at the pace they enjoy doing them, and they're able to enjoy themselves just fine. Whatever their ultimate goals are, they'll reach them when they reach them. In the meantime, they'll enjoy the trip.

If you're a hyper-competitive player who can't stand knowing other players are further along and/or have more than you, and will spend as much time and money as necessary to "catch up" or "compete" - you're going to have the same experience in any MMO you go to, be it F2P, B2P or even P2P. It's more to do with your personality, and less to do with the game. While a game might cater to that personality (I mean if people are willing to spend unreasonable amounts of money...), it's not the game "making you do it", it's that person in the mirror.
