Big Picture Games, one of the two companies to purchase a license to release a custom Darkfall server, has suffered a breach after rushing out their test server. The breach has been said to be so significant, both companies may need to "throw most of Darkfall's code in the trash can and start fresh."
Ub3rgames, the other company to purchase a Darkfall license, talked about the situation further here
. They, along with Aventurine, apparently attempted to help BPG out of the mess since the problem posed a threat to them as well, yet they "reopened without waiting on any approval, with an archive that is still defective." As a result, Ub3rgames, plans to have "hacking weeks" during their test phase. The plan sounds desperate as it will rely wholly on players doing the honorable thing and coming forth with their knowledge and hacks of the compromised client.
I can't see how this won't end in legal action as this could not only sabotage Ub3rgames' version of Darkfall New Dawn, but devalues the original games code in the event that Aventurine wanted to sell further licenses.
