If this is true, what kind of asshole would attack a dying game and take away a few people's last hopes of enjoying it?

    If they are going to close down the game could they not just offer the game and server code out to free to some game company to make it free 2 play or something?

    You mean Asheron's call?  Yes. that is sad that they would do that.... it's bad enough that the game is closing down.  What's the old saying, " it's like beating a dead horse..."

    Is AC2 closing down too?

    If only it was that easy. Alot of these old games use licensed software for the database and other backend stuff..  AC1 and AC2 used a microsoft backend chat server back in the day. I am not sure if they ever changed that but I remeber getting the chat server crashed messages in the early days.

    It takes zero skill to ddos anything these days, as you pay and just select from a drop down menu what game (some even have individual servers you can select) and click go. 

    The payment is done per time period, you can buy as little as 5 min slots on some ddos sites.


    So any individual holding a grudge against a guild or even a person can target any game.

    Gone are the days of "hackers" or activist groups doing ddos, now anyone can simply buy it.

    It's so easy to do these day you can even set up a ddos service yourself and get others to pay you to do it. But why would you? Even if you wanted to get to someone it's the most stupid thing to do.

    Anyone that DDOS's any website has no decency period but in general, there are lots of people in this world that are utterly and completely social broken and completely self centered.
