ESO is great

CyberWizCyberWiz Member UncommonPosts: 914

Well after waiting and waiting on a good sandbox ( like SWG pre CU-NGE ), I gave up and settled for ESO.

Character building has sandbox levels of customization, basically skill based.

Open world, RvR, voice acting, good quests, great graphics, twitch combat, ...

VERY active community, the megaserver is definitely the way how it should be done.

What is not to like :p

Just posting after 5 hours of quality gaming and immersion, now going to sleep :p

The rest of the fans are basically just playing the game :)

It's a pretty good game for a theme park, but the phrase sand box really shouldn't be mentioned in the same thread as ESO.

It is of course not a sandbox, but the level of character customization is vast.

Fine, name me 1 mmorpg that does better, except EVE Online and Ryzom.

    I am all ears ...

I joined a guild, playing with RL friends, there is group PvP , RvR and PvE ( raid style ).

It is hardly instanced, you see everyone running around in the world ...

    People talk to eachother, etc.

So again, point me to the mmorpg that allows you to socialize more please, because I would love to see it.

Seriously, you played 5 hrs.. this makes you qualified how?  Would you perform surgery with 5 hrs of instruction?  No.  Would you go work on a car with 5 hrs of technical school?  No.  You're in a honeymoon phase.  Come back in 4 months... then say something.

I socialize just fine in EVERY MMO.  Just wait til you start getting quests where you and your party are in separate instances of the same quest.. when you see the floating arrow.  Oh wait, you're still probably in n00bie area 1 or 2....

Ehh? every themepark MMO comes with similar tools. ESO is not something special. Infact it is the best single player MMO on market right now. Socialising is something players chose to do and can not be inforced.

Funny, I can't think of any MMO that doesn't have what you are bragging about.

First of all - I do NOT like forced groups in order to move forward in a story or in an MMO.

It should be a choice and ESO is. You do not have to be in a group to do the main story but you do for Most RvR or high end game content. LIke every other MMO.

Second - the term - single player MMO - is stupid. a MMO is not a Multiplayer in a group mode for success only game. It provides you the opportunity to do so and to socialize with any number of other people - but please do not assume it means forced group to have fun and enjoy the game. I can enjoy the game, socialize and be solo if i choose but be limited in what I experience because there is much you cannot do alone.

MMO = Massively muliplayer online - which means lots of players online - providing the opportunity to work together. It does NOT mean forced groupings to do the main story. So get over it. I can play solo through the story and still socialize and be a part of the community in many ways.

So please dont try to force your perverted definition of a MMO on me if you dont like mine.

How long did you play the game for? Just curious. It would be quite hilarious if you are one of those people who only played the game during beta :D

@OP, the game is great. Actually I can't think of an MMO I have played recently which gives you more choices around character customisation than ESO. Only EVE and UO come to mind. The rest of the MMOs I have played (basically every single AAA MMO) just present all your choices as you level up.

WOW, dude, chill out, this isn't the forced grouping vs solo thread, or ESO isn't a MMO thread, it's a thread about whether or not ESO is "great" and why or why not you might agree with the OP. (it really does deliver a great single player experience IMO, if that's what you are into, I'm just not)

I promise you, no one will ever force you anything on you in these games, or these forums for that matter, you are free to come and go as you please.

[mod edit] Thanx OP! I haven't played for quite a while and was thinking of starting back up again. In fact, I didn't even get a chance to start my first months subscription.  This may have helped me and my decision! :)

I'm with ya OP. I waited on this game in beta and was very cautious after seeing a very forseeable rough release. I was in most of the beta tests and I could see it coming/gave feedback to fix it. Now everything is straighten out and the game is playing amazing. I found my keeper for an MMO. When I get my PS4 I'm getting ESO with it also.

What, are you new here?  OP posts ESO is great, of course it will bring hordes to disagree and say why they don't think so, in fact the OP even asked for their opinions when he said, "what's not to like?"

Believe me, there are things not to like about this MMO depending on your taste in games.

Awesome. It is one of the better games out there IN MY OPINION, and I am glad you like it. I currently have  V3 and still log in each day that I am able.

how far back can I go? and can you define social interaction in more detail?

anyhow I agree with you and I'm saying that it's a nice single player game.

with multiplayer elements, but it's not an mmorpg.

It's fine if you play solo and it's fine if you do the dungeons as a group but questing with a friend or more friends on different days (one advances or finishes a quest, unequal quest-progression and so on) you'll be put in separate instances and won't be able to play in the same "mini-instance", which means one will have to sit it out until the other one is done with his thread.

I enjoyed it as a single player experience, not saying you shouldn't, go wild. single player experience with chat and multiplayer elements. pvp is a different story.

for me personally I didn't see why I should pay a monthly sub to play a single player game, might be different for you, to each his own.

It is a really good game. I think it just doesn't quite feel like a subscription game though? I know that turns me off a bit but I'm learning to deal.

I think it would be perfect as a B2P game and I really hope they go that direction by the time the console versions launch.

ESO and Sandbox are two words that fit like chocolate and mustard. Just dont want people to get the wrong idea about this game lol But glad you found a MMO you are enjoying =-)

And that's the punchline... someone hit the nail on the head with "Grouping is optional", now, not that I want to be forced to do something (we have enough of that with PvP achievements (and skyshards in eso (in RvR land ofc))).

But it's the modern player, the new brats on the block.... No manners, no punishment, do as you please! Ahhh DAoC 10 years ago, how I miss thee.
