    it has been adressed 1000000X to bring back darkfall 1.0..

     

    Now that they see Uw is failing harder then 1.0 they let the thread open..its pathetic

     

    40% of the 1.0 players has been banned from their forums and/or not reading the forums anymore and lost hope.. myself included..

    i made the petition during beta of UW and people still signing it..

     

    Made a ticket to support of av and wanted to pay the costs in advancedto run a server also showed the petition to AV in order to get things rolling..

     

    They banned both my accounts on the forums and game accounts for doing so.. LOL

     

    LORD Zanul try to buy the 1.0 rights of 1.0 and it costed 600k dollars..for a game that is lying somewhere in the basement

     

    i would rather see this company run bankruppt, despite the patches they made with uw and communitcations improvements, they simply dont deserve any playerbase.

     

    dont get me wrong.. i would play 1.0 in a heartbeat..

    DF1 simply will not be brought back, ever. Get over it already.

    Theyve made a lot of improvements the past few months to make it more similar to DF1, like the custom roles, and have also been working on things to make it even better than DF1 in several ways. The main thing missing now is they need to smooth some things with combat and it will be a superior game in nearly every way.

    DF1 was a broken mess of a game, hence why it's gone, and why barely anyone was playing it at the end.

     

    It would make ZERO sense for AV to dig it back up, have to build a multi hundred thousand dollar server to support it, hire more people to MANAGE the server, and even more people to deal with the bugs that popped up regularly on the old server, just to satisfy 100 people.

     

    Get over it.

    - leave darkfall 1.0 to rot never patch or update it

    - get an investor MGAME

    - develop a new game

    - launch this game with less features then the orginal game and/or half of the things broken

    - sell less boxed versions then 1.0

    - start patching uw because its so successfull

    - bann everyone who speaks over df1 and remove threads on the forum

    - watch server statistics of active players both NA/EU

    - leave df1 thread open and see if there is any more intrest in 1.0 to get more money(speculation)

     

    once there was a time in darkfall that the their forums had over 1k users @ any giving time logged in on their website..

     

    Currently they are happy with 150 users @ average..  which tells you what?

They met with their friend Tasos, who suggested they move to Greece where the taxes are less. They did so, and merged with Aventurine, and began development anew in 2003. All the same people involved, just a new location and ADDITIONAL staff.

    - launched the game.. massive amount of players felt in love...over 150k boxed sales were made over the 4 years.. Actually, there was a huge rush to get into the game at launch, followed by an even bigger drop off.     I played DF1 from start till the servers were shut down. Main reason is the combat was the best out of any game end of story.

    The combat in UW sucks so much. Its just the feel of the game, not tight and sharp like DF1. So I dont play UW for that reason.

    We are playing DF1.5 now that they removed roles.  Its much better than the bunny jumping, trapping mob and grinding for days era DF1.0 was.

    Support what we have now as it is only going to get better!  I would have the developers IMPROVE DF1.5 instead of reverting back to a junk game.

    you should check it out aswell.. its gonna be good.. i played some hours already besides that the devs there are very open to suggestions and communitation is going on a daily basis..

    Sorry - but I do not see how combat was left unchanged when since day 1 it has been nowhere near as responsive and fluent as it was in DF1.  

    It is very responsive now.  Wobble is gone too.

    i think UW is good and getting better, i never played 1 but i like the one i have.

     

    all it needs is a better economy and alignment, i dont think df1 had those.

    I've been playing UW again since two days ago and been having a blast. I remember having fun with DF1 but not as much as I'm currently having with the updated UW. Before the class system was just kind of lame, but now that you can basically skill what you want like 1.0 it's a hell of a lot better.

    they need to change from arena combat themepark to the full sandbox mmorpg experience original darkfall was designed for.

    There was nothing really more sandbox about DF1 than DFUW. You couldnt build anything aside from selecting from a few options and adding to a few pre-determined areas within an already existing base. It's not like you could actually claim some land and build a house there. Everything was already in place, the same as it is in DFUW.

    As far as character development sandbox, i'd actually say DFUW probably offers more for that now than DF1 did. In DF1 acquiring certain abilities / skills automatically completely removed the ability to use several entire schools of skills / spells. DFUW does not currently have such limitations. There is also the fact that in DF1 being a certain race automatically made you an ally or enemy of certain other races and limited your access to cities, whereas in DFUW you have access to every city and are not automatically flagged as friend or foe based on just your race.

    I have been enjoying DFUW tremendously ever since the custom role patch.

    The only thing that I really wish they would improve is the player movement physics, the way the character runs.

    Other than that, I'm extremely satisfied and looking forward to all the changes coming up. AV is completely transparent and communicating better than ever right now. See you on the field!

In DF1 acquiring certain abilities / skills automatically completely removed the ability to use several entire schools of skills / spells. DFUW does not currently have such limitations. There is also the fact that in DF1 being a certain race automatically made you an ally or enemy of certain other races and limited your access to cities, whereas in DFUW you have access to every city and are not automatically flagged as friend or foe based on just your race.

     

    The original idea behind darkfall was skill.  The devs even stated that Darkfall is explicitly designed for and proud of this way of gaming.

    "If you want to skill greatsword you grab a greatsword and collect experience with it instead of doing mindless quests and collect some xp not collected by your skill".

    DF:UW   has unfortunately rendered this way of valid sandbox way of gaming useless and violates instead the own principles  and goals goals of sandbox gaming.

    The next violation of a really long list is done by the lack of a working alignment system so rogue player have to fear nothing in NPC cities.

    And sorry but racial warfare was intresting additional gameplay that now not exists anymore and thous the game has been made at least poor on one dimension. let alone all the real choices that a sandbox player could make to choose the right race instead of the flat optionless and half finished themepark  gameplay of UW that gives you no choice to differnetitate even in race choice.

    Was it all perfect in DF1.. no. But giving up to complete the game, to  make it a full player driven game sandbox game   instead of watering down to the themepark version of today, is the behavior of quitters in life which DF devs seems to be.

    Instead to make it possible to build your house everywhere like you say a good game has to offer  they simply ignored it  and changed things no one asked for except this noob themepark reviewer Ed Zitron, which destroywed the gameplay.

    Now all play Ed Zitronfall instead of real Darkfall. 

    The true vision died with UW and they need to get back to it so the original sandbox and MMORPG players get their promised Darkfall finally, those have been with the game since 2001 and deserve the original DF to be finished.

    Pleasing the  Ed Zitrons will get you nowhere since they are game hopers anyway and go for the next thing the glitters in their short time attention span they capable of anyway.

     

    A baby step is done by breaking up classes but a huge task is at hand to make it a full game.

    Next step could be to introduce all the skills back.

    I greatly enjoyed Darkfall, but I think 'Darkfall: Unholy Wars' is VASTLY better.
