It is amazing how little they do with such a large sum of money..

They have servers that have over 7m players on them. Blizzard has over 1000 employees. Right there is the biggest chunk.

They use it to pay their art team to make mounts to sell to the players for $20+ (or whatever the prices are now).

And probably pay the rest of their employees, rent, utilities, events, etc. etc. etc.

Pay investors and the money they have to send off to parent companies.  Revenue is not profit.

It has been obvious for years that Blizzard takes your money from Wow and throws it at other projects and to buy the IP back ... so they can throw more of your money into other projects.

Why people play a game where their money isn't actually used for the game is quite beyond me. They charge for mounts and a level boost for as much and more than buying a totally different game and when real content is created every 2+ years they charge you the price of a new game all over again. Great gig ... and people keep throwing money at them.

    You stay sassy!

Seen a lot of threads lately citing the numbers by this superdata site. Not sure about the credentials but reading other news on that page talks about "silencing haters" etc. Is this site legit? I'm not so sure. Even by their own admission, these numbers they are coming up with are educated guesses at best.

Doesn't matter if the numbers or facts are legit or not... if you can quote it, it must be true... otherwise it wouldn't be on the internet.  Duh!

Its as if these companies are made to make money. Everyone knows all games should be free and companies should lose money .

    No business people?

Does no one know what a subsidiary is? Holding company?

Blizzard is a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard so they DO NOT keep that money.

... So Bobby Kotick keeps all the money?

  • HorusraHorusra Member EpicPosts: 4,411
Activision and Blizzard are separate entities under Activision/Blizzard.  Bobby owns about 23% stock so has a lot of say.  This does not mean money is not shared, but they supposedly act independently.

They use it to make amazing cinematics that don't represent what the game is.

I think we'll see where the money has gone some time next year when they reveal Titan.  In the meantime it goes into maintaining WoW and expansion development, diablo3 development, SC2 development (Where the fudge is episode 3?), Heroes of the storm development, Hearthstone development and many other project which we might never know about as Blizzard do have a knack of cancelling things.  Oh and paying wages on time every time unlike some studios and all without needing loans, kick starters and other means of raising money.
