WoW's  as bad in vanilla, Neverwinter the same,Lineage 2 was pretty bad, EQ 1 threw you out into the world with no clues what to do, SWG had a tutorial then go hf,etc, etc, etc. Not saying it is the right way but nor should a vestal virgin come to you upon login to guide you and offer pleasures to make you cream your pants.

Nobody asked for that. I just want to have fun while playing a game. I don't want to play a game to have fun at a later time. Makes no sense.

It makes sense for the people who actually need a tutorial

You're saying Tutorials can't be fun? TERA did a lot wrong, and I am not a fan of the game, but their tutorial rocked! Games need tutorials. No reason to not make it an awesome experience.

I found Darkfall and Wurm to be engaging and fun immediately.

To be fair, in wurm once you are settled on a home the progress becomes very slow.

Wurm barely runs and is immediately engaging because within the first 20 min a bear will usually eat your face.

The majority of the items are just my view point and in fact some items others might give a +1 instead of a -1 but most of those are simply due to preference.

    +2 Can build ships

    +3 Ship Combat

    +2 Diving/underwater treasure hunting

    +3 Extensive crafting

    +2 Housing with meaning

    +3 seiges?

-1 No realistically usable 1st person view

-1 Tab targetting button mashing combat

how many classes  u have actuly got to lvl50?

-1 combat popups kill immersion and makes it feel like I am playing an arcade game

-1 Predictable standard mobs and static spawns

-2 zones feel like zones, exploring doesnt ‘feel’ like its something you are supposed to be doing without an objective.

go and explore. what objective do u need? there is no hidden walls and if u c something in a horizont u can get there.

-3 questing on mob quests gives considerably more XP reward than other methods.

only on low to mid lvls. Craftinf still bring more xp over time spend

-2 despite graphics engine the game looks/feels like a game made for adolescent boys

compared to some games on a market the female charecters r pretty much covered

-3 Housing/Farming lots look completely ridiculous

In every single way (other than the items listed in + which are near in game features) the game feels and looks like a themepark.

Given the near end game features I would continue to play if there were not currently better options in the market place for such features.

    rage on.

let me guess you just managed to get to lvl 25, maybe 30?

If I have to play a character to lvl 30 for it to start getting good or interesting then the game already failed. Period, no debate.

ive been playing the alpha for about 4 days now and ive been having so much fun just exploring. Im a level 34 havent even touched crafting or farming or any of the extra activities and im loving every bit of the game. Sure its a grind if you just do the quest but it only took me about 3 cumalative hours to get to 34 just doing quests. mind you from level 26 to 27 in about 45 minutes i did nothing but mining to see have fast it goes. It was boring at first but i met a group of people also mining and it was great just chatting with them.

If only focus on leveling up your going to bore yourself to death and completly miss the more important aspects of the game.

You must hate mmo alot then ?
I mean leveling is any mmo is just that, leveling.

But what Archeage offers beyond leveling is what makes this mmo stand out miles above the other mmo flops released past years.

Specialy Warhammer / Aion / SWTOR / ESO, damn did those mmo's fall hard.
And leveling in those mmo's sucked even harder as you could ONLY level where in Archeage you can build your boat at level 30 and roam the vast oceans with your friends and start making fun !

Best mmo of the year no contest.

Well since you said you were pretty much skipping a lot of stuff atm, exactly what are the more important aspects of the game?  You implied missing something but didn't state what that was.

  • RewhymoRewhymo Member Posts: 53

Ive watched people do the other things and am very interested in doing all the other activities, ranching, gathering, crafting, but honestly i never really know where to start so instead i did some exploring and am doing the quest line. Like reading a book im reading everything of every quest. Most people who complain about quest grinding typically dont read and completly skip the story. Ive yet to find anything i dont like about the game. Well except that the vanity items is just one slot. if the vanity set was more like Star wars galaxies id be in super happy. in the mean time if they were to make a system that you could grab a full set of armor and convert it into one vanity set, where you can even mix and match the sets before combining them, that would be amazing

Was curious about AA. Thanks OP, et. al. for the info. Sounds like another quest hub grind with gear treadmill. Take the quest hubs out and I would sign up. Don't like being told what to do, and punished if I fail to comply (slow leveling is punishment). Also don't like hanging out with masses who like being told what to do; I prefer independent thinkers.

I'll never understand mmo design. Let's make the game shit at the start and have the player grind through tedious levels to get to the fun parts. I pretty much give up on most mmo's at around level 30 because i get bored of the quest grind. You're supposed to hook them at the start not at the end dumbasses.

If just do Q and dont bother with farming tutorial and pack runs, u get to lvl 30 in about 5 hour game time.

Xyson works fine, Wurm runs better on my tablet than my laptop simply because Wurm is not compatible with my GPU. Before you ask 6 vs 9 FPS on the tablet absolutely regardless of graphic settings. I should be running it at 100FPS on full settings and with 2 clients booted up as well.

Archeage though works like a charm..oh and the downtime on Wurm vs Archeage even when subbed to Wurm is something like 100 hours to get a few skills up to a decent level vs what? 30 to get to the fun bits of archeage? Gotta love your logic here.

well my desktop gets something like 120 fps with all graphics set on max.

That said, I do know they had a some issues with lag a few months ago but I was on break from the game so I didnt notice.

Like I said, once you get settled into your home and crafted all the basic things....progress becomes painfully slow...no doubt about that, do not deny it one bit and I am not a fan of that.

However, when you put everything it does all together into a blender and drink it I like the flavor better then ArcheAge.

Now Archage has some interesting features but those features exist in Darkfall and if I want that experience again I will just go back to Darkfall.

QFT (and lol). Also hate how games just fly you through to max level. For old schoolers who played MMOs with long leveling experience, we feel like we're being robbed of our growth period. Welcome to MMO # 12234. Ding, level 50. Wow that was fast.

Have to say it's pretty bland so far with it leading you around by the nose with zero freedom. It  makes me feel like a child with all the huge quest markers and arrows on the ground telling me which way to go.   I also find the labor points very restrictive and see no purpose for them other than to keep me from doing what I want to do.

I thought Wildstar sucked until I played this. I really don t like it at all. One of the most boring gaming experiences I ve ever had. I don t care if I can build my own anything, the game stinks of boredom.

Darkfall original had potential but the company destroyed it.

I can't recommendfed to trust the company behind Darkfall. Do you know $OE ? Thecomopany behind Darkfall is  wannabe $OE mobstars but dont have even the money $OE has. They gave a shit about their playerbase and destroyed the playerbase who payed them subscription for 4 years.

The company behind Darkfall will not respect your playing time or playing habbit or anything ....

Archage is take it or leave it..plain and straight and not prtetend to be "The best game ever" like the amateurs from DF tout about their current crappy implementation of Darkfall ..

I was with the comapny of Darkfall for a long time and payed the sub money for years but they betrayed me and tehy give a shit about player.

Avoid Darkfall at all costs ..Dihoru is absolutely right.

EvE's developer  added to the game with every patch and update, we owe them deep respwect and support  wheras AV crappified it, they don't deserve anything from any true player..

    -----MY-TERMS-OF-USE--------------------------------------------------
$OE - eternal enemy of online gaming
-We finally WON !!!! 2011 $OE accepted that they have been fired 2005 by the playerbase and closed down ridiculous NGE !!

what id like to know what exactly they achieved with cryengine 3. the game looks old. Also, i do get a constant feeling i'm playing Aion (maybe its the engine...). Anyway, rather bland and boring.

But I guess it isn't really bad, it is fixable without revamping the game or anything.

Well considering the game was released in Asia January 15, 2013... it's essentially a 2012 developed game... it's now halfway through 2014 and it's only just now hitting beta in the US.  It's only new to us, it's old to those who have been playing it for a while.
