MSI has revealed what it is calling a "desktop replacement" in the form of the GT72 Dominator Pro. This mobile gaming laptop features an Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia GTX880M and much more all packed into one of the slimmest laptops ever produced by MSI.
The GT72 Dominator Pro showcases a completely redesigned chassis measuring less than 2 inches thick, almost half an inch thinner than its closest competitor and lighter than most desktop replacement notebooks. Inspired by high-performance exotic cars, the gaming notebook fuses a one-piece aluminum chassis with customizable lighting effects for superb aesthetic pleasure. MSI’s GT72 Dominator Pro utilizes a frameless pseudo-glass palm rest for superior comfort, has an enlarged seamless track pad for easy scrolling, equipped with quick launch keys including a one-touch stream sharing button via XSplit Gamecaster and gives gamers easy access to upgrade storage and memory.

That's allot of heat. I have a MSI and they had to replace the vid card 2 months in (got an upgrade). Not sure if I was just unlucky and picked up a lemon or it was a heating thing (it does run hot...but all gaming laptops do I hear), but overall I am happy with it.
When it comes to gaming laptops and shoes, I don't worry about the price.
Hooray for paid advertisements that do not involve flash doing obnoxious or malicious things?

While it's genuinely high end hardware as laptops go, I'd be very, very wary of the cooling system in any gaming laptop that advertises thinness as a feature. Gaming laptops are fundamentally a problem of squeezing too much heat into too little space, and making the space available even smaller only makes this worse.

If I ever buy another gaming laptop it will be from : https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/laptop-computers/
Decent prices, they build em right, delivery isn't loco but they are nowhere near as slim and sound like jet engines when doing legit gaming (know from watching a colleague of mine who has a mid range 15 inch one, good lil beast and easy to self service too ).
Nice, but you had better have a fireproof lap.
Personally I can build a better desktop for half that price. I guess if you need portable....
As to the comments about memory, I don't know a game yet that uses 8gb, might be in the future, but anything beyond 16gb is just a waste of money.
Mismatched memory channels certainly hurts memory bandwidth. But you're not meaningfully constrained by memory bandwidth unless trying to feed a GPU from it or pushing a very large number of CPU cores. The latter is unusual in a laptop, and if you have a discrete video card, you don't feed GPU from system memory when it matters.
It's still a waste of money, though, as 8 GB is all you're likely to need in the useful life of the machine. I can kind of understand 16 GB on a high enough end system, but more than that is just ridiculous for most use.
for that price tag I could get a decent laptop and PC
