The Das Tal team has announced that the first alpha for the forthcoming title will take place in July. The team further announced that it has secured $130,000 to fund Das Tal's initial development that enables the hiring of additional personnel and to move the game's development to the point where July's alpha can take place.

The game web site has been completely re-designed to match the new art style of the game itself. This brings us a host of new concept art posted in their media section and a new developer video that gives us an introduction to the game’s core features and what they endeavor to create.

Fairytale Distillery also have set their sights on a July Steam Greenlight submission. That means that fans will be able to show their support on the Greenlight page and help the game become available on Steam Early Access in the near future. Make sure you sign up to their mailing list or follow them on Twitter / Facebook to be alerted when Das Tal takes the leap.

Trove was originally trying to do a similar server concept with the worlds constantly ending and new worlds being created.

It seems they abandoned that concept for something a little more player controlled and permanent. One problem I always envisioned with the temporary worlds thing is how long does it last? And what if you play on one world for weeks only to have it finally be "finished" one day while you are at work by a bunch of people who only just joined the dang server.

I think that concept sounds good, but it's not very practical.

Yep I agree what is the point of building anything if it is all going to go away while you are still playing?

Alex here, I'm designing the game.

The answer is simple: The world's end will not come surprising to anyone. It will happen in a clearly defined time frame (X-Y days after server start) and it will be heavily announced via in-game events. The whole game builds up to that point so there will be no "oops I just lost my pixels"-moment. Yes, pixels will be lost. But they are only a way to influence this event and will be (painlessly) re-built in the next game. See it more like the item & level progression in DotA - only on a way bigger time scale.
