Sandbox

Looking for a sandbox for my friends and I to play.  One doesn't like Eve or Perpetuum, and I dislike Archeage (which is still mostly a themepark).  Can't be Pay to Win, but Free to Play is acceptable.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Maybe try the Everquest Landmark beta ?

Landmark is really the only game i'd consider a true sandbox MMO even though half its features aren't even in the game yet.. in that game almost everything will be up to the players to create.. Quest/dungeons all player made.. so really depends what you consider a sandbox..  IMHO for games coming out soon AA has the most enjoyable endgame even if it's a lot more of a hybrid than a sandbox. AA and a couple friends just to much fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmUVxAyy9fg :) (had wrong link in there updated to correct one) also this one just shows some group of guys just being silly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBwLZSi7I-Q

    Mortal Online is pretty sandboxy

Wurm Online is a sandbox but it has issues.  Hard to break in as a newcomer and the game is just ugly. Everquest Landmark/Next (still confusing isn't it?)  promises to be many things. We can only wait and see.

Was looking for something to hold us over till EQNext.

Might look at Darkfall.  I wonder if there are buddy keys/trials available for it?  Same for Mortal Online.

Modded Minecraft on a server. Many different flavours possible. Not a MMO, but definately a sandbox. There are loads of premade modpacks with servers to download. Some major launchers that host popular modpacks : Feed The Beast Launcher, ATLauncher, Technic Platform.

For current large modpacks, you need a 64bit OS though. Both Linux and Windows will work.

Anyway, for a couple of friends and me its our game in between MMO's.
