Granted, I have no idea who Scarlet Briar is, or why she wants to destroy Lions Arch, because I missed half or more of the "Living Story", but... ok, the destruction looks grandiose, but... 50+ people rushing through a city zerging. Does anyone really think that is fun?? Just wondering. I had enough after half an hour mindless mass zerg already.
Can we have an expansion pack pls now? Like Kantha. Or Elona.

Don't run with the zerg then? Get a party and run the other way? The whole zone is full of objectives, you don't have to flock to the events.
People are always complaining about the zergs, but for some reason they never consider they could just ignore it and do their own thing.
This. You want max rewards? Work with others, it's an mmorpg not a singleplayer game.
You want to have fun in small environmet? Make a party with friends and do events together. Especially in overflows it's easy to find LAs without many commanders; split from the pack and have fun your way.
People LOVE to complain just for the sake of complaining. Every event it's the same complaints about zergs..
also funny is he don't even know who is scarlet or why the attack on Lions Arch, if you don't read of course its boring you don't know anything, and even with zergs we have a hard time to fight there so to me its nice already.
now serious if you are agoraphobic or something play a SP, MMo are not you deal.
peopel complain the maps are empty and then when people go tothe map they are zerged.... can't make everyone happy, heh?
Since when is Tuesday a direction?
I agree... i leveled all classes to atleast 50 and 4 to max... endgame is not really fun..
They promissed new content... this is not new content... i hate repeating things over and over..
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Exactly! It's like when they complain about being able to instant port whenever they want. Just don't do it if you don't like it.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
"Meh you can solo everything".
"Meh you have to zerg to complete it"
"Meh the world is a desert"
"Meh the world is so full".
"Meh you need no organization".
"Meh you have to organize a bunch of strangers and split them up".
So exactly do thpse players want?
They want pre-organized medium-largish groups that follow the holy trinity.
That is called raids and there are a ton of other games out there for them.
GW2 on the other hand offers different types pf massive group play.
For example the Marionette offered a first zergy phase that then would split is small groups vs a boss with some mechanic.
The TriWurm requires organization and coordination plus understanding of specific mechanics.
The LA escape is the big zergs farm against tough mobs,
Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders
So releasing a new zone where you kill mobs and do events would be content.
Re-releasing a zone adding mobs and events where none existed, isn't?
Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders
I enjoy it.
The sense of destruction, the sounds of screaming and the immensity of the chaos is amazing. LA is no more. Villagers are spread out, and I have the need of helping them. The karma train is there, but their size also gives this immersion of chaos and disorganization -- it's like their part of the scene. What I love about it is the end... when things get poisonous. I like to pretend I'm crawling towards the exit, screaming in the back of my mind, "GET TO DE CHOPPA!
I get one thing from my guildmates that play, and another from some other players and I noticed something consistent about it all.
Some have the hive mind mentality and some don't.
Those that don't have it, are having a blast doing their own thing. My guild doesn't zerg and have allied with those that think the same. They watch for where the zerg is going, and go the other way more often than not in 3 or more groups covering several directions, one of the reasons why their server is always at or near the top in WvW. They are doing the same with this new content and doing great.
Those that have the hive mentality see the zerg and join in, without thinking, as if they have no choice. All while complaining about there being a zerg mentality when in fact, they themselves are the reason for it. It more than likely stems from having played so many games where developers controlled their every action without their realizing it.
Freedom can be scary sometimes for some people.

Op just the other day i had a player in a different game tell me the new age of fun is just total spam fighting, using her exact words "nobody likes strategy anymore, your play style is dead".Of course i ../sigh and lol but whatever,i guess we have to expect different folks for different strokes right?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
To be honest TESO has killed this game for me ...the server I'm on is on a wvw downspin and the living story has run it's welcome out with me
One time I ran around with half a dozen people freeing and escorting citizens, but I found the material rewards were much higher running with the zerg; as far as I could tell rescuing citizens was not even close to as profitable (aside from the fact that everybody wins when you reach the milestones). Necromancer->Zerg->Epidemic->Profit or Engineer->Zerg->Nades->Profit. There are plenty of champions in the events which seem to drop deluxe gear boxes in addition to a piece of gear.
Incidentally, if you could get 100 people on board, everybody would need to save just 15 citizens, or one every 3 minutes. It's kind of frustrating that getting more than a dozen people to work on it most cycles is harder than any of the content in the city.
I think ArenaNet does visual detail really well (for MMO purposes), and the destroyed city is a really great example of that. On the other hand, having enough unique content to keep it from getting really repetitive has been a problem all through the parts of the LS I've seen. The short-lived nature of the LS content creates time pressure that makes players feel obligated to keep doing the same tasks ... but the tasks themselves otherwise don't often have much substance to them. In the case of LA I would rather have seen some sort of event progression more like Orr's temple events rather than a mostly generic cycle.
Well, you spent that half or more of the living story here on the forums saying how bad it is. Reap what you sow my friend. The patch of last week...the Edge of the Mists one was like a story recap. They said EVERYTHING known so far and threw new stuff. You actually found out about the attack on LA by yourself checking evidence! They explained why and what happened. A patch before that you went into scarlett's hidden room.
The past few patches have been made to ramp up people's playskill and teamwork efficiency....yet people still choose to zerg it. Well its simple, if you zerg, you WILL fail, end of story. Marionette? It required organized group of ~80+ players to complete. The great jungle wurm? On both continents (NA/EU) i think there are only 7 or 8 servers that managed to do it because they do not mindlessly zerg. Not to mention that in EotM alone you can push whole zergs off of cliffs to their deaths
Overall, I find the new installment of living world quite enjoyable. Currently working on getting that new backpiece they introduced with it. Would fit my warrior rather well. Then again I'm just scouting around in LA, not joining the zerg.
Oh did you know that Gw2's events scale up based on the number of players participating?
yeah...about that...a zerg's events are a lot harder and take more time to complete. This way they are unable to even grasp 1500 rescues
TL;DR; You're doing it wrong mate
i love it. havent played gw2 for a while and since a week im back again. and this patch was just great. thats what an mmo has to be. bringing the masses of players together to fight for something together.
btw if you just zerg and only do events and kill mobs you wont reach anything. you have to build groups and small zergs to reach the goal of 1500 saved citizens.
^^This, exactly this.^^
Isn't it sad that so many people can't comprehend the ability to "not follow"
I would also like mention that with the OP complaining about having too many people around in an mmo, why isn't there more posts from the "facepalm meme" crowd and the "GW2 is dead" crowd?
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
Now that people are starting to NOT zerg and are spreading out, there's a lot more strategy visible with fights, and the collective score is getting much higher on average.
In this event it's =easy= to zerg, but it's not actually good to zerg. And people have been picking up on that and changing how they do it.
I like it.
As others said, way the event works, midless zerging punishes you here (miasma events are harder) and gets you less rewards (less citizens evacuated), gj on anet part imo.
