Can I get a "Whoop, Whoop HELL YES!

Well that settles it, yes I would definitely do it for the EQN game.  I also intend to buy the Founders pack as soon as EQN:L implements Combat and other Races.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

GW2 couldn't even come close to balancing the no-trinity system for PvE so I don't see how Sony are going to manage it.

As excited as I was about EQN, so far there are some very questionable design choices surrounding it. A freemium model (questionable at best for MMOs, this isn't League of Legends), trying to focus on what is essentially two games at once and no trinity? Yeah, not something I would invest in. Voted no for now.

At the moment it feels like Landmark will be the actual massive game and EQN itself will just be a mini game to that when people are bored of crafting and building.

I may end up doing that too. Originally, I wasn't interested since it is going to be F2P, but following some of the streams of it, it looks to be a pretty fun housing game.

    Nope.

I'm done with pre-orders, pre-purchases, "founder's packs", "early access", and all the other ways modern companies try to weasel money out of people for unfinished products.  Make a game.  I'll see how other people feel about it AFTER the rose-tinted glasses come off, and if it sounds fun, I'll buy it.  If, like an increasing number of titles, it ends up being a horrible disaster that is only a shadow of what the devs claimed it would be... I'll wait 6 months and check again.

Sorry games industry.  You brought this on yourself.  Back in the good old days of the Playstation 2, and pre-internet patching, I was all about standing in line to get a shiny new game, because I knew it would WORK.  Now, it's like they're not even trying to make it work at release, assuming everyone will be happy patching over the next few weeks.

They have said that the founders packs WILL go away once the game launches. And that the odds are that different races and combat will not be released with launch, so get the packs while you can.

Founders packs and early access packages are ways for you to support the company, have input into the testing/development of the game and buy it early essentially.

They're working exactly as developers intend them to. They give you a means to play an unfinished product early and have direct input into the game's development.. something which is highlighted over and over again with any kind of early access alpha/beta package.

You act as if the companies owe you and not vice versa.

May go ahead and get the alpha today. I was impressed with their NDA lifting so soon, and that shows confidence in their product. That goes a long way to change my mind to buy it, when at first I wasn't interested because F2P.

Normally I'd say no because I don't preorder games but EQN is looking pretty good to me. Landmark looks like something I'll enjoy messing around with and I'm really on the fence about paying for EQN.

I still wouldn't beta test either. I'm done with betas and burning out on games before they launch.

Don't think I've seen a more bizarre reason to purchase something. Maybe you meant to say, "The game looked like fun, so I might be buying into Alpha even though it's F2P."

But being impressed with their NDA status as the reason to buy something . . . kinda weird no?

  • KanethKaneth Member RarePosts: 2,286

It really depends. Since they are adding EQN and EQN:L to the all access package I'd have to see what they offer for bonuses. I don't mind spending some extra cash to help support the project, but I want to see more of the game before making a decision.

Additionally, I want to see what the benefits of having a sub for these games is as well.

I don't think that's weird. Look at ESO, it's coming into another beta weekend event, nearing the launch date and the NDA is still in full effect. That tells me that ZO is trying to hide whatever bad publicity they know their game is going to receive. The fact that SOE has lifted the NDA in an Alpha version of their game shows how committed they are to being as transparent as they can be during their development process. It also shows that they have full confidence in their own product, and are willing to take both positive and negative comments.

NO.  I will never pre-order anything from Sony.  In fact, I have no interest at all in Landmark and minimal in Next.  I have had enough of the Freemium games.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I'm not a big Sony fan, but that goes a long way with me to gain respect in their decision to lift the NDA and like you said shows they have full confidence in their product, willing to take the good with the bad feedback. With today's mmorpg's we don't see that very often with a company.

I went with undecided because I still haven't seen enough about it, unlike Landmark which I know enough about but still didn't get a founders pack because I don't think the perks they offered at their prices was worth it. I don't get founders packs for MMOs for the alpha/beta accesses, its more for the perks. Shroud of the Avatar however was slightly different because I wanted to help fund the game more than anything else.

Just want to forward you to this thread that discuss that NDA lift.

While I'm happy to see it being lifted, I think it can't be compared to other "typical" mmo.

Keeping the NDA up just did'nt made any sense (type of game, type of "collaborative project", fact that they already sold access to it, etc..), so I don't think it has anything to do with confidence or not..  and I would be really surprised if they handled EQN the exact same way, (I would like it though and be happy!).

To answer the OP though, I would probably get it after (if) the NDA is lifted soon after alpha access are given (like EQNL).

(BTW, that's not to say that I agree with TESO keeping it's NDA up at this point, but that's another story.. ;) )
