That is a Sync issue that SOE does need to fix. It is not a hack the server does it to some outfit members sometimes. When someone is out of sync they can not shoot people dead they have to knife to kill. Most people actually notice they are out of sync and redeploy so that they do not get a bad name from it. Lucky it is a rare issue but either way does need to be fixed.

Just yesterday I sneaked up onto the bridge where VS was attacking our base and saw their AMS, ran up to it and shot down several people with a silenced SMG but then there was this guy standing there accessing the AMS terminal and I shot a whole clip into him and he flinched but didn't die or anything, then he ran off and I shot someone else and he died normally, didn't get to see who that player I couldn't kill was though. lol

He wasn't accessing the AMS terminal, he was respawning, Players are immune to damage while they are still in the respawning process. (mostly apparent when someone is still watching the loading screen)

Hacking is a problem, but its probably less the 1% of the people.  Still stupid and still frustrating when it happens though can really ruin a good fight.  But like said there are many other problems, game runs poorly, zerging, population balance, air/armor spam, all would be more important to me.

I've been playing this game since beta and have seen MAYBE 2 people tops that I thought could be hacking.   The hackusations are way overblown in this game as in with other FPS games as well.

I am an Alpha Squad player from closed beta, and I still play today. I have NEVER seen a single hacker while playing this game. I have seen video of them, so I know they exist, but I have never personally witnessed one.

If I can play this long without seeing one, then they can't be that bad.

    A funny anecdote from me:

I was playing with my VS outfit in the game and we were at the Crown waiting for the TR to come over there and try to take it. I decide to tell my squad over voice coms that I'll be logging off and then I did. But I relogged as TR and joined their assault on the Crown against my outfit teammembers without them knowing it just to hear what they would say over voice coms as I killed them. There was this one particularly frustrating young guy who kept boasting about how good he was that I wanted to go up against myself. :P

So the big battle starts and I killed around 6 of them in a row and was accused of hacking by them. Some of them were so certain I was using an aimbot that they didn't even believe me when I logged back into my VS character and told them that it was me who had shot them for shits and giggles. I have personally never used a cheat in a multiplayer game in my life and I've been playing games for a very long time now

So, just because you think a guy is hacking it might not be the case. I personally have not come across many aimbotters and only a few speedhackers and those guys dont usually last very long

Until you shoot blatant examples of it (but rest assured those who pooh-pooh that stuff will continue on claiming "you lie"; "*I* never saw a cheat" rhetoric)...

Had to stop playing not only because seeing that stuff, all the multihack videos of PS2 on YouTube. It maybe a F2P, but no point wasting time on blatant cheats that obvious. At least in BF3+ as server admins we can catch them red handed and ban their butts.

i was thinking the same thing about people saying there is no hacks. dude you cant see everything just because you havent seen any doesent mean its not there. theres plenty of hacks going on i cant beleive you folks are so naive. so very naive. makes me wonder what else you dont beleive is true. every FPS willl have hacks, plenty of hacks. thats just common sense. either you are blind or you are just new to online games or something. every game have many, many hacks, bots, and everything else. ESPECIALLY FPS GAMES. that includes, combat arms, A.V.A, soldier front, soldier front 2, crossfire, project blackout, blacklight retrobution, and 20 other games. wake up and smell the coffee.

Hackers? Yes there are a few, you can play an entire year and not see any hacker. The only one I saw flying inside the structure of a biolab was in a YouTube vid in PS2 fórums.

Aimbotters? DOZENS A DAY every time I play. If you guys arent able to see them you are just plain blind.

But, but, but he attacked me when I was low life!

Yes, HE DID, why you cant do the same to him?

Uf that will take me a lot of time...

    HERE IS YOUR QUEST!

their both hacks, and sadly, there are quite a number in the game, that SOE are continually seeking them out and removing them is something at least. Even so it is still a fun game to play, its just a shame that a few do their best to ruin the game for the rest. image

Back around the Christmas holidays the hacking got ridiculously bad (oddly enough they always showed up during alerts, so I tend to play outside of alert times). It's actually rare for me to come across a hacker otherwise, but last night there was a TR fracture MAX that was hammering everything and another TR said the particular MAX was spinning and snapping and thought it looked hilarious.

Went back in to check, and during the alert this morning, was watching people pause and stay in mid-air. :/

Worse the amount of TKs in the game is simply unacceptable -- there's a reason the default setting for Battlefield games is FF Off, and why WoW doesn't allow it, as it's a source of griefing...especially in a game with so many vehicles. Since SOE changed squad leaders objective pointing to match more like Battlefields -- Q marking -- maybe they can also borrow the FF Off concept on a server.

People will also stand in front of engineer anti-personel guns (especially MAXes) and Heavy Infantry firing rockets, just to get them kicked. SOE really has to rethink this, or offer a server with FF Off so players can play as the game was intended, not junior who thinks it's funny killing team mates (and I'm sure all the reports last night/morning over TKs were equally as ignored). PS2 as it is now resembles a bottom feeding game of the lowest denominator, and it's a shame because dynamic fights/events are so fun. An hour didn't pass when a dweeb was killing their own, or comments about all the TKs because people will walk right in a hail of bullets or rockets. -_-

game is plain crap. theres no starting(noob) place. So you end up humiliated by rank 100 players. Base with one turret and 4 enemy aircrafts hovering around.  As all mmos, where a braindead noob shits in max lvl gather up and kill rank 1 players....

Played for a few hrs, game is very nicely done, but if you are not an mazochist, you wont like it.

    FYI

BR (battle rank) is just a cosmetic number, doesn't mean anything. There is absolutely no impact of BR on stats or combat whatsoever. If you were creamed by high BR players than it's because they were better skilled/experienced than you are. A pro tip: practice makes you better at things. Another tip: each player has exactly the same number of hit points at BR1 and BR100. Maxing out armor protection (which is highly situational and gives you 20% DR at most for a specific damage type) takes a day or two of playing per class. Basically there is almost no vertical progression in the game and whatever little there is can be maxed out in a few days per particular build. BR just shows how much xp you collected so far and how versatile rather than powerful your gear is. A low BR player will generally have one or two builds maxed. A high BR player will switch specialist roles more easily (these "specialist" roles are not even that much more powerful in their particular situations, and by specializing you make yourself very vulnerable in general combat - sink a 1000+ certs for the uber skyguard anti-aircraft tank cannon and you'll spend most of the time running away from infantry and other tanks; max out the uber anti-vehicle turret and your static unprotected head, with a nice animated smoke trail leading to it,  becomes no1 target for every sniper in the area)

A lot of high BR players, me included, still use the starter weapons which are usually the best balanced ones of the lot. If you want an alternative better suited for your particular style (less precision, more dps; faster reload, smaller magazine etc) then purchasing and certing another weapon costs approximately 1500 certs at most - and that's easily doable in a few days playing.

Another pro tip: you will die a lot. Players with max BR die a lot. Dying or not dying is pretty much irrelevant here and talking about k/d ratios is considered a very bad form in this game. It is all about your team, your empire winning. If that involves dying a lot rather than shying away from combat then so be it. It's simply that kind of game.

And finally, this game is MASSIVE. No, there are no "starter areas" and the situation on the battlefield is shifting constantly. It can easily be overwhelming for a new player. My advice for you or any new player is to start with a support character (engineer is the best, imo) and just go where fighting is the thickest.  You'll get massive ammounts of xp that way and start building a feel for the game. Avoid the "instant action" button like the plague and instead join a PUG squad and use "squad deploy" (xp bonuses for supporting squad mates are really sweet). If you get pinned down by vehicles simply wait for the cavalry to arrive, they usually do within 5-10 minutes and a flock of camping liberator bombers is an xp farm for friendly fighters, or simpy move to another hot spot. Biolabs are particularly sweet if you like tight pure infantry combat. And finally, just forget about dying - you will do that a lot in this game and usually through no direct fault of your own. War is hell you know. That's not to say that there is no skill involved here it's just that it is not measured by k/d ratios. If you can't get over this concept then this game truly isn't for you.

I seriously don't get where people see all these hackers.

Every 2 months or so i return to planetside and play like non stop all day for a week, and I've only ever seen a single hacker.

I really get the idea people that complain are just imagining hackers, but the real issue is that they're just not very good players.

I've been on and off this game since closed beta, and It's really not that bad, unless It's a US/server specific issue, i play miller (EU)

I've been playing daily and at least on my server the amount of obvious hackers had dropped to zero this year. That Galaxy speed running seem to been fixed months ago, since I haven't seen anyone using it lately, especially considering that the recent changes upped the usage of Galaxies.

There may be subtle hackers, but the amount of obvious ones has dropped to practically zero. I think it's a combination of two things, SOE's efforts to secure their game and the game losing the original appeal and thus not producing enough money for the hacker community to bother update and support those hacks.

If you get disconnected (or experience severe lag issues) two things happen. Either you freeze where you are (that includes aircrafts freezing in mid air) or you keep walking, moving etc, which will sometimes show you running through walls or running up in the air.

FF is integral to the whole gameplay and it will ruin the game if it was to be removed. The amount of intentional TKing happening is negligible compared to the benefits in gameplay you receive from it (no explosion spamming on top of your troops, not using your allies as meatshields while firing through them etc).
