Even in the best of years, we come across games that just aren’t very good. Whether it is the poor writing and forgettable story of Asura Force or the ultra-grindy repetitive questing of Ragnarok Online 2, some games just aren’t worth your time. There are games that should be good and aren’t which somehow makes them even worse. This year was light on releases but there was no shortage of bad games vying for your attention.

This was an easy list to make now wasn't it. Scarlet Blade makes for a nice introduction to mmorpgs though. So whenever a mmorpg newb is like "hey what game should I play?" I list off a handful of games and finish off my recommendations with
"But before you try anything, You absolutely must check out Scarlet Blade"
Imagine the face of a true newb google searching Scarlet Blade, and what must be going through thier minds.
lol
agree with Dust 514.
sadly dont think theres no turning back on that one eh?...
eight of ten games on the list are typical low budget f2p games and since old high budget mmos (f.e. ddo, lotro, eq2 and many more) went this payment model way it was clear that those cheap ones don't have any chance on the market. for my personal taste neverwinter is missing on this list. crappy and greedy game.
I played two on the list.
Asura Force - I think AF has/had potential. I made it to the lower end of mid-level before giving up. I like slow progression when the world has a non-linear feel encouraging me to explore looking for new things to do. This was slow, but completely linear. And I don't mean a little bit slow. Painful was more like it.
No disrespect for the team is intended. There were several aspects done quite nicely and it's technically superior to their other game(s). It's just the base design killed it for me.
Scarlet Blade - I played close to release. WoW strippers in space? Uninstalled after figuring out the concept didn't work for me. Maybe I'm not understanding? A shame because the production value seemed quite high. I can imagine this will be very popular with some. Just not me.
One I still haven't played, but want to.
City of Steam - This game looked so promising. I haven't given up on it and still want to check it out.
and because war Z worked THAT good, let's do it again! and people are buying the SAME SHIT again :P
gotta love the internet
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
While the truth is that Infestation changed its name due to a law suit and it was not due to their greediness, I am totally behind you with it deserving to be the number one worst MMO of 2013.
Hammerpoint is a prime example of why there needs to be reform in software legal rights. No other industry can get away with flat out lies and greed like game companies can.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

Feel a bit bad for Dust 514 and City of Steam, both games had quite some potential in their concepts. Heck, even Wizardry MIGHT have had a niche out there. However, execution on all of them was horrendous.
As for War Z, Day Z, Crap Z...no, I'm not even going there.
Ok guys, time to start focusing more on 2014, let's forget 2013 existed for MMOs. A "release schedule" list with main Pros/Cons would be nice please!
Not sure why but I get some sort of joy and satisfaction seeing so many crapfest f2p asian mmo's on the worst mmo games list of 2013.
It still is baffling to me why there is such a crowd who hang out on sites like mmohut.com that cater mostly to those type of garbage games and play only those games when all the AAA real deal mmo's are now f2p?
Wizardry Online was the first game I ever quit before even leaving the starting town.
That's why Ariea Games needs to rename themselves to Areola Games.
Same.

It might have worked better had they decided to put it on PC instead of console.
Let's party like it is 1863!
Just curious do you guys actually pick and chose which Ad space you sell to who? Or do you just sell it in an open forum, and who ever buys it can put what ever they want? I know sites can go either way, was just curious how you guys sold your Ad space.
No mention of the swtor? The fastest game to go ftp from a sub model ever and had to have content post launch cut because the engine lagged so horribly? Eh, dem advertising monies I suppose.
Its not that bad, pretty much WOW meets Star Wars. And they have pew pew coming. Its by no means the worst of the MMOs.
