Why must every discussion have one of these predictions in it? Why isn't there one on why it won't fail?

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

The release is like 2 years away. People are already making character names, drawing nifty pictures, and calling their friends and telling them about their exciting wittle shootem up game. But my point being is that in 2 years time they will gather enough underwear tugging folks to make the release a success. I think you are gonna be wrong on this one.

I know its sad. I love 40k but we have to live by these wise words "hope is the first step on the road to disappointment".

But come on, when a developer hasnt made a single good game its not all that encouraging.

If I remember correctly, both Wet and Dante's Inferno got some praise and were at least decent.

Most of the devs came to behaviour especially for this project they werent responsible for earlier games. Think Miguel and most of the team worked on TSW.

Anyway their communication with community and passion is definitely promising. So far looks like they have rly good idea of how 40K game should look and play, unlike the monstrosity that THQ/Vigil were making.

the dev have made age of conan and the secret world.

    read this from an intewiev.

Everyeye: To begin with, how did an independent study on how to obtain your license from Games Workshop Warhammer 40,000, especially considering the fact that, until last April, was the only licensee THQ?

Miguel Caron: We managed to get the license due to a succession of several events. Games Workshop in the past she used to sell or "rent" the full license of Warhammer 40,000 (which includes not only the sixteen playable races of the boardgame, but also the eight specialist games and dozens of novels published by Black Library, author's note), as they did with THQ. Given the dearth of titles published during the last period of the license, the agreement with THQ has not proved optimal for Games Workshop.
You must understand that Games Workshop does not lavish licenses only to have an economic return, their goal is that the games are made and that the fans are happy to play with it. With these premises, sign a contract like that for them provides for the creation of many games, but if I'm not mistaken, THQ has managed to make only a few (ie the IP Dawn of War (RTS) and Space Marine (TPS), author's note) . They could have done much more, but given the shaky financial situation, have been forced to cancel some titles.
Archived experience with THQ, Games Workshop has started to implement a new licensing strategy, which consists of breaking the license, entrusting the individual elements of the diverse studies that cater to them on the basis of the proposed projects, what they like the license, which characters are fans, etc. .. With this new method, a study could develop a game dedicated exclusively to the Orks, or one that takes place entirely aboard a single spacecraft (recent example is Space Hulk Full Control, author's note), and so on.
I mean, Games Workshop has decided to split the Warhammer 40,000 license and distribute rights on the basis of what they want to make developers, also taking into account factors such as the type of platform on which we will publish the game, such as game visuals will be used. .. what kind of gameplay will it have? It will be top-down? A FPS? Finally, take into account the platforms on which the game will be available, if it is a title for consoles, tablet or PC game.
With this new vision, Games Workshop has recently signed many more agreements, some with smaller studies.
When the company announced for the first time these new licensing options, I was working on the concept of the game, with what would become our core team, for Funcom. One of the reasons I left Funcom was just to continue the work on that project: the company did not want to continue the production of the game of Warhammer 40,000, and so, with their permission, I left the studio bringing with me the work done so far, direction Behaviour .
I received offers from 3 different studies for the IP of Eternal Crusade, but I chose Behaviour because they had twenty years of experience and I really liked their financial discipline, the way they managed their projects. Another point in favor of Behaviour is found in Quebec, were one of the first studios to open venues in this area and I already knew most administrators.
All of these things led me to bring the IP to Behaviour. Games Workshop wanted to know the leaders of the study, which I presented to them at the last GDC. After this meeting I, the core team and Behaviour we finally received the blessing for the signing of the contract on Friday before this year's E3.

they hired a whole new team of MMO-veteran developers just for this title. Miguel mentioned people working on Age of COnan and TSW, but also said that being in Montreal they had access to tons of experienced developers who had been hit by recent layoffs in different companies.

of course that doesnt instantly mean the game will come out good or bad, but at least disproves your initial argument

So OP doesn't know anything about the dev team or who they are. He just looked at a list of games he's probably never heard of and said ...nope fail.

To me this thread is nothing more than a troll thread. They really need to stop letting these things stay up on the forums.

Age of Conan was a bad game. TSW is a PVE game. Not that promising.

i just lol'd when see the topic title and always do when see "fortune tellings" and predictions, what game going to fail and what not.

The final judge is us the players when we take a hand on the actual game(not the Betas!!!!).

Stating that a game going to fail because of the developer or even publisher is just soo wrong, is equalent saying a painter going to fail before see his/her painting, or saying that musician is going to fail before hearing the violin solo...etc.

So yeah, i love this, a mon-keigh try to be a farseer.

Bioware made some good games and failed at SWTOR ...

My point is even if we had some hard info on the topic like : budget, approach,  gameplay , depth of the game,..

We just can’t tell what will happen ... and your opinion is based on one page of games they made ?

You mean 2 of the very few mmos in the last 10 years that didn't try and copy wow and actually had some originality to them ? Yeah that's not very promising at all.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Let's hope the dev team has such flawless logic as OP and they quit the development before it's too late...

It's to prevent their guilds falling apart in WOW, damage control, say that other games suck and hope their members will not leave so they can keep filling their raids and their need for new gear.

Those games are were pretty good, whose to blame with bad releases?  The Dev's who designed the game with the limited time and resources or the company that pushed the game out and told the developers to get the game launch ready by X date?  Too much people hold every MMO to WoW.  That's like comparing all business to Donald Trump's astronomical business success.

AoC had some of the best dungeons and raids I've ever had the pleasure of playing, TSW had some great (best) storytelling but can't speak about the dungeons as I never made it that far.

It's far too early to tell.  If SWTOR taught us anything it's: no matter how strong your IP is if you don't put out a quality product your game will flop.

That said this IP feels strong to me.  I think if the game overall is well done then it will do insanely well.

The EC forum is up and it looks like ALOT of good things to come. I have a strong sense of hope that this is the win that the 40K franchise has been waiting for.
