They are not totally bad MMOs, but theyre not good either. They are just medicore AND (in addition to being medicore) clones of 10-15 years old game that most played to death already.

Thats kills them very fast for vast majority of people, it lasts as long as novelty/new shiny. But when that wears off..

Meh, depends on what you do. The stuff that I am enjoying in FFXIV I have not done in an mmo before.

they're like eating popcorn. You can get full doing it, but it doesn't satisfy that hunger, which is the reason you started eating in the first place.

Most of these games are fun to play but they're pretty shallow and the old tricks that worked as time sinks don't work as well anymore.

Not sure he s saying that. I m assuming he s saying he s enjoying stuff in FFXIV, that he doesn t in other games. As far as the topic, I m still rather enjoying the game, but I m taking my time, big time.

haven't been on  here in a couple days, this thread really exploded, finished off my 6th job today (whm), I did not read everypost but did skim.  MMO's aren't worlds anymore, Worlds offer tons of content where themeparks do not.  I'm not knocking FF at all either, i love the game. Just wish the end game had more to offer. Oh and 2.1 isn't really got me looking all excited to be honest...

To answer a few common questions:

    - After your first 50, you get 50% EXP Bonus exp (Fates,Mobs etc)

    -  I maximize my time while im on and don't waste it it like many seem to do

    -  No you can't have my stuff.

    -------

I have unsubbed, finishing out the month and may put it down till 2.1(maybe...) With cystal tower being ilvl80 it kinda saddens me that, well, I'll be in the same spot, grinding the rest of my allegan gears.

    How does that exactly work?

You intentionally drag things out just so they last longer?

So you dont kill something in 10 seconds but drag it out to 10 minutes?

You can "take time" in any MMO, but at least now, i can "take my time" for free in pretty much same game as FFXIV, "Taking time" in FFXIV cost money on top of everythin else.

Generic Fantasy MMO #10237 is not a Final Fantasy MMO.

If this is not the case for you, I can only say I feel terribly sorry for you.

As for taking one's time, the attitude that the game doesn't "begin" at level 50. It's as simple as that. Getting rid of the thought that "gear doesn't matter at this level", or "I can make money at the level cap". You can rush if you want to, that doesn't mean every level doesn't have something to offer if you welcome it with open hands.

Welcome to hardcore gaming. Find 10+ games to play actively, or prepare to be utterly bored. 10 hours a day isn't even a lot. Some people are simply unemployed and have low interest in real life socialising, which leaves almost all their awake time to gaming. I used to average 15-18 hours gaming time per day when I was unemployed after high school. Of course I got burned out on every game I picked up, and I can't even be bothered to blame the games. It's my lifestyle that was out of the ordinary.

Same game, different scenery. Scenery only goes so far. (btw i picked up FF in last century)

And still, a lot of words to say nothing.

Give examples of "taking time". You hit level 33. How do you "take time"?

The only message i get from "taking time" is: "i know the game doesnt offer much and is shallow so i intentionally (needlessly) drag things out in desperate attempt to like it for longer"

I mentioned two perfectly concrete examples and you chose to dismiss them outright. I spend time to equip myself so that I can perform to my best ability on many different roles (I level a DPS, tank and healer class simultaneously so I can fully appreciate the instances from all perspectives, as they play quite differently depending on the role). All this I do without blowing all my gil in the process, utilizing the crafting and gathering systems to make money at any given level range, while equipping myself to the teeth.

Last night I did several Brayflox's Longstop instances (lvl32+) to obtain the thus-far best looking equipment out there for my warrior and scholar. The dungeon is easily the best so far and I had a blast playing it as a tank and a healer. To top it off I got the mage body piece as well as the dps body piece for my pugilist. My monk on the other hand did the lvl18 instance for leveling purposes and there I taught a tank how to mark mobs and tank better, which she was quite thankful for. That made my night pretty much.

While at this stage (30+) quests are not giving me enough exp to support leveling two classes simultaneously without resorting to grinding by doing every quest there is (unlike previously), the dungeons have started to become so fun that I can save the quest exp for my monk and obtain the full mage and tank set from the instance and level up in the process.

Either way if you don't respect what I'm saying enough to not dismiss them so arrogantly, we're done here. What you seem unable or unwilling to grasp, is that everything I do I do because I enjoy it immensely. I don't play games I don't enjoy.

I can agree with the OP a little bit on this. I'm burnt out as well due to grinding the hell out of fates due to the lack of having interest in the story. I have always been a huge fan of the FF series but I found the story to be boring so I started fate grinding and light dungeon grinding (whenever I could get in a dungeon) boost up my toon. I'm still subbed right now, I log in the game to run a few questages with the mates but I may be canceling soon.

I'm in the same boat.  After about my 5th 50, I was losing interest.  I probably played it way too much is the main cause.  For some reason it just doesn't have the appeal of FFXI, which I was hoping for.  FFXI is my favorite PvE MMO of all time :)  I'll probably come back after a while and see what has changed.

So you level 3 classes simultaneously, you grind lvl30 dungeon and somehow youre "taking it slow" lol

As i said, intentionaly (needlessly) dragging it out because you know game is severly lacking in content.

I'm doing the same. I didn't do it because the game lacked content, I had no idea how much content it had on endgame when I started lv up several classes at the same time.

I just don't really feel the need to be in endgame as soon as possible. There is a game where I'm at too and I'm enjoying it. Endgame will have to wait, is not going anywhere anyway.

Well now that's just a big fat lie. didjerama knows the truth and the truth is we are so afraid of running out of content at the level cap we desperately cling to the lower levels "needlessly". It doesn't matter that we feel every level is equal, that's just us lying to ourselves.

Seriously though....the bottom line is that the game is lacking in content right now.  Honestly?  I have no issues with that.  Why?  Because it's brand frickin new.  If people are expecting a game at launch to have as much content as games that have been around for YEARS (as most of the detractors clearly state in every single post about how x game that's been around for 5+ years has way more content.....duh) they will be sorely dissapointed in any launch title.

    On some level i agree.

On another level FFXIV is out now and compete with what is out now, not what was 5+ years ago.

launching with ultra fast progression and two or three options for when that progression is complete is the issue.

So take FFXIV and suggest how to make progression significantly slower within limits of a game that FFXIVARR is.

Well now that's just a big fat lie. didjerama knows the truth and the truth is we are so afraid of running out of content at the level cap we desperately cling to the lower levels "needlessly". It doesn't matter that we feel every level is equal, that's just us lying to ourselves.

I hope you can find it in you to stop fooling yourself, too, and start accepting the Jesu....didjerama as your one and only savior.

You might as well afk in some hub and "take your time". It would amount the same.

Did i hit the nerve there or sumtin? Chill out bro

He's just laughing at your absolute inability to accept the fact that other people experience things differently to you image

You seem to believe that your opinion is the "absolute truth", and anyone who doesn't agree with you is either stupid or lying.
