Here is my problem with rift in a nutshell. I played since beta like most others. I played on PvP servers only. One day I was invited to a Dimension of some RP server for some party or whatever else those Rp'ers do. They were holding a duel tournament. Me being the only player from a PvP shard I should win easy right? Nope, I was outgeared bad, really bad. Though I could have been the best skilled player in the world, some random noobs beat me because it's a lot easier to gear up on an RP server than on a PvP server.

So if you want to stay competative in pvp you have to move to a pve server, what kind of sense does this make?

I healed Mistwraith and all I got was this stupid tee-shirt!

Hope more games go the route of a "megaserver". Don't know if that's the real case here but seems to be better in the end. Glad TRION is doing this, makes people who are currently playing able to get in and get things done with more population options.

I'm actually surprised they didn't do this sooner.  Oh well, it went f2p for a reason.

even if the reason is underpopulation, i think its a step forward

More MMOs need to implement layering instead of separating people by servers. At least Rift took the lead in offering free transfers so people could fix this underpopulated servers themselves.

Might have been bad timing, I dunno, but at around 7PM Eastern I really expected to see a lot more people around.

People don't hang out in Sanctum anymore. They hang out in Storm Legion zones. Go check out Tempest Bay and go from there.

Your problem in a nutshell is you make no sense. PvP gear is better for pvp and you only get that via pvp. Raid gear is mostly useless in pvp except a couple accessories.

Your big mistake is thinking people on a pvp server are better at pvp than those of us on an RP server. You got owned. Try not to make that mistake again. When I was on an early pvp server that has since been mothballed, I got ganked a lot more. A lot. But they weren't better at pvp, just at engaging people unprepared. When I transferred to the RP server the pvp, especially the open world pvp, was brutal. I guess your post just shows pvp servers don't make you pro.

You must be new to MMORPG then, overpopulation used to be a huge issue. I do agree with you that most games don't merge fast enough. As a game matures it loses players and you need fewer servers. Rift has been dying for quite some time, they should have merged quite a while ago. WoW should have merged a bunch of their servers already too.

    They have/are.

Check the email account for Trion / Rift for a message about the server / datacenter merge.

They are resetting the names of characters that haven't been logged into for a while. The email will tell you what character names they are releasing and what server they live on. All you have to do is login BEFORE October 23, at least according to my email.
