Need to find good laptop memory for my Asus G75VW

Ok I just go brand new Asus G75VW.  I love this thing.  It does everything I need it to do and more.  However, since I bought this for video editing on the go, I need to get more memory.  However I don't know what brand to get, How to install it proper or even know how to set it up.  My goal is to have 16-24 gig of ram so I can edit effectively.  Can anyone advise me?

    Check your warranty. More than likely they won't honor it if you have any problems related to RAM while you have third party RAM in their system. I'm not recommending you buy RAM from ASUS. Just be sure to pull out whatever you buy if you need warranty service.

     

    It looks like 2 of your RAM slots are on the other side of the motherboard. Getting to them will require major surgery. If you're going to do that then you need to get a "I void warranties" t-shirt at thinkgeek.com.  This video shows you how to void your warranty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9KHrJKInmA

    May I recommend that if you're going to buy a laptop with the intention of upgrading it yourself and don't know exactly how to do so, that you ask for help before you make the purchase?  There are more than a few laptops--including some very expensive ones--for which the answer would be, "You can't."

    Asus says that the laptop comes in an enormous variety of hardware configurations.  So the first thing to do is to figure out what you have.  Open up the laptop to see what memory modules are in there now--both how many modules and the capacity of each, which may not be the same for every module.

    What you bought is old generation hardware--which may still be fine if you don't care about battery life and found it at a suitable price.  Hopefully you didn't get stuck with an old, hot Fermi card.

    Yup, you can get at 2 of them, but if your wanting to go all the way to 16-24G you'll need to upgrade all 4, and those other 2 DIMM slots, accessing them voids the warranty.

    As far as brand goes, it's all commodity really. Your paying primarily for speed, and secondarily for warranty.

    Personally, I like Kingston with their lifetime warranty, but you pay a premium for it.

    Check your processor supported max?then buy 8 cl version of it and your good to go
