Things are coming along for this game, everywhere except US / west Europe ..

ArcheAge – Mail.ru Press Event in Moscow on September 28th

September 25, 2013

http://www.mmocast.com/news/archeage-mailru-press-event-moscow-september-28th/

Seems like Mail.ru is getting closer and closer to ending up the localization of the most popular MMORPG Archeage. On September 28th, 2013 a big meeting will take place in Moscow. Officials from Mail.ru will be showing a beta version for ArcheAge localized client. Each major guild was invited along with the national gaming press so they expect around 100 people to take part in this event for the chance to talk with the head of Mail.ru, the ArcheAge team and several developers from XLGames. The possibility to record videos remains a mystery for the moment so we don’t know if we will be able to see the Russian version of ArcheAge in action.

The meeting will cover the future closed beta event, and exclusive Q&A session and a discussion about crafting system (I guess the labor points system is the issue here), PvP and other important game systems for the Russian version. If any news, hints or videos pops up after this event I will let you know in a future post. We are still waiting for some updates from Trion Worlds about the Western version of Archeage.

Trion ..?  /knock /knock /knock "hello?"

Well if all else fails, I'd rather learn Russian than Korean!  The alphabet is sort of the same as English, and I can handle the reversed R's, no problem!  Not to mention, Russia is probably safer than South Korea, from North Korea! (no game shutdown due to annoying facets like war...)

Trion?   Trion?  Trion? ...... Trion? ...

Echo!   Echo!  Echo! ..... Echo! ...

This game has taken too long to be released in the west. Most people don't care for it anymore. If it had released  in the west a year ago they would have had huge sales.

Hardly, it will come out and all the people who wanted it in the first place will jump at it along with others who just play any new game.

There just seems to be a contingent of players who come across as "spoiled kids on christmas morning".

I've seen other people on forums say the same thing only to then be playing the game and discussing it in forums once it does come out.

Well this time last year i definitely would have bought the game, today i don't really care for it anymore. Timing is very import in the mmo genre, just ask blizzard. Devs named to stop announcing games four years in advance because it kills the excitement.

Thank you for your input.  Some of us still want to see this game though :P

It has good potential, which isn't easily tossed aside because someone had the discomfort of waiting.  There aren't many better options, currently.  Just other games in development (many of which will not be what anyone expects anyways).

I'd rather have a good game, as opposed to having a big publisher do a drive-by and drop another piece of .. ... .. with a life expectancy of 2 weeks.  Like the wait or hate it, ArcheAge supports the notion of longevity as the West see's it - all the characteristics are in place.

    I wasn't excusing Trion =D

I don't think Trion wants to do Archeage.

They have significant struggles of their own.

Exaclty, I just don't understand why people keep saying people are not interested. Its a new mmo and people are going to try this game. Name me one mmo that has launched and people did not try it? This will be the first AAA mmo to launch as a Free To Play mmo. When ever it releases its going to be huge.

I played in early beta and have waited years to get a NA version. In it's current state I will not be playing AA unless Trion makes some changes to the ruleset (unlikely).

My reasons have nothing to do with the added fluff items but the casual direction XL Games has taken AA.

No death penalty, safe zones, spawn points, bad siege system, etc. have all destroyed open world PvP. Apparently few people play on the third continent. Guilds aren't colonizing and engaging in warfare because the sieges are so terrible. No politics. Third continent is a ghost town.

AA recently added instanced battlegrounds? I thought I read that somewhere. AA is dead to me if they go the battleground route. Find a way to fix the third continent and open world PvP.

Well, as a guy who really doesn't like OW PVP all that much unless I am in the mood for it, I will still check it out regardless.

That said, I used to think Trion was an excellent choice for a western publisher, but given how things are turning out for them, I have to wonder if it will even ever happen. Unless things change for them soon, it is hard to see a lot of long term success in Trion and AA in NA.

The rose tinted glasses give a different perspective, however. The longer it takes them to publish here, the better chance they have of fixing the issues that have cropped up in actual play.

They have to westernize it  first, you know, dumb it down so things don't offend/upset people.

Then take another year to make sure it doesn't fail for US/EU.

    Release the game and fail.

    ---

Don't get me wrong, I've played the game and enjoy it. I just don't like how they handle the releases here. Pretty much like stepping on glass.
