This is actually real, from the Community Cantina in Seattle. And maybe im a dreamer, but that looks like a PvP battleground.
The 1st real expansion for swtor is coming?.

Believe it when I see it.
The most accurate SWTOR trailer to date.
..or you could just look at other threads and see that there are plenty of other threads with the same video link.
It's a hook, but a dry hook. PVP / PVE? Instanced? boundaries? Choice of 3 craptastic ships, as speculated? No customization? Rails? Semi-Rails? No control over the ship? Partial control? Auto aiming? ... damaged ships just "bounce" off offending object like in Space Combat, or do they get visually damaged / destroyed?
Will upgrades be on the Cartel Market like other space combat upgrades? How much can someone expect to pay to skip the lower ranks and become competitive?
This, and more, on the next episode of SSSoaP !

You know what i would consider a real SSS Project?
If i can get on my ship at Dromund Kaas and manually fly it myself to space within the same persistent world. Fly to the fleet, from planet to planet, have pvp, do PvE and exploration in space, then come back to Dromund Kaas and land my ship and continue my ground journey. All in the persistent universe.
Never gonna happen so.... SSSP wont be as good as it should. But im looking forward to it. Depending on how good and persistent it is i could get it or stay away.
Interesting datamining.....

Throttle up and down and roll left and right and now its X,Y,Z space combat ?
seems more like players can change the speed of rails.
So, did ESO have a successful launch? Yes, yes it did.By Ryan Getchell on April 02, 2014.

That trailer was amazing.
bwahaa...THAT's IT?
I WAS right, the worst possible case to think off, instanced warzones, they have been doing Moonbreakers after all!
No open universe, dumbed down three button controls, no cockpit, keyboard mode.
Well, time to give Chris Roberts some more money which I saved up for a proper Jump to Lightspeed type expansion.
Hehehehehehehe
You people floor me. You have no clue what Star Wars was about. It had very little to do with space other than traversing it to go to another planet. Even the Death Star is never seen in empty space. Why do I say that? Because space is empty. TIE fighters are short range fighters and would need Capitol ships for fuel. Get the point?
How many times does Luke take the X Wing out for a joy ride in the hopes that a TIE fighter or two pop up? Answer NEVER! Star Trek was about seeking out new life forms and new civilizations, exploring unexplored corners of the universe. Try that game out. Oh wait, it's AFU as well ain't it? Keep crying for something that you are mistaken about. Open space exploration is not Star Wars.
Luke got flight experience somehow ...
Or was he born as an expert pilot destined to free the Republic..
Wombat training ... perhaps other experiences not shown?
But not everyone is a Jedi ..

Hi SevenStar61!
That screenshot only serves to show that the new space combat wont be true 3D .. slide left, slide right .. roll... up .. down ..
This is not free-form / free-roam space ... with a full 3 axis freedom ..
Also it's PVP objective based, so it's instanced .. double
/sigh
[sorry for any redundancy .. new info provided]

Just because the movies didn't have a lot of open space travel in the movies, doesn't mean there was no travel in the Star Wars Universe. Smugglers, bounty hunters, traders, diplomatic missions (like the one Leia was one when Vader captured her), convoys, Outer Rim mining/exploration, and others were doing all kinds of travel that could be big part of the game. Just because Han was too busy with the rebellion to smuggle in the movie, he had been smuggling for years before. If you want to learn more about SW try the books. Much more about the rest of the galaxy.
Hahaha that was amazing...ly accurate... and now I'm a little sad.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
But if you look at the current rail system in the game, it's actually moving on 3 axis, NO? just because you can't manually control the ship when you want it to go on a certain axis doesn't mean it's not 3D. So I don't see how the SSSP won't be 3D...if they do make it just roll left/right and slightly move up/down while staying on a rail-like level, then this will be the biggest fail expansion to date when it comes to PVP content...
Data mined stuff indicates a fixed team arena of sorts which I prefer way more than whatever open space stuff some people want.
'EVE Online' in SWTOR is a terrible idea as they are two completely different games that just doesn't work well together.

Hey Karteli,
It will be true 3D, I can guarantee that frpm seeing the tutorial page, but check this out, as I said, telling from the tutorial page, this is 100% exact same principle as "Moonbreakers" which has the same control scheme, as you can see all axis movement is there
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpVDPyH384c
and the second game which is excatly the same is Star Conflict
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky422MJ9aaY
- full 3D axis movement, yes
but
- limited area (exhaustion zones ahead!)
- instanced
- time limited
- objectives
- no cockpit view
- very limited controls
-> space warzone, no big seamless universe to explore like Jump to Lightspeed
So it's going to be similar to XvT. I am perfectly fine not having some silly super open space sim like Eve. That's just pointless in a game like this.
But at this point it looks like PvP only while the current "space" will stay PvE. I'd much prefer some 4/8/16 PvE just like XvT with objectives and such.
At this point, I'm not sure. The UI shows engine/shield/laser power rates, but there are abilities in current space that give bonuses and reductions to one or the other. If they could produce XvT like space, it'd be wonderful. It's a rails/semi rails, it's going to be worthless.
how is that even REMOTELY close to X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter????
XvT had cockpit view, a plethora of keyboard commands, joystick support and dozens of long multichained strategic missions, so, nope it´s neither XvT, JTL, EvE or anything else like that. It´s simple arena shooter pew-pew with a countdown clock ticking.
Oh, and lol@ "silly super open space sim like EvE". You know nothing. Eve is neither "silly" nor considered a traditional "space sim". So much wrong with that statement.
and you have a link confirming all of this?
I don't think there is a link confirming affinities to Moonbreaker or Star Conflict. It's just fans wishful thinking.
The trailer shows a very flat view of 3D space .. up is always up, down is always down.
Even the leaked screenshot gives little to promote anything other than WASD type controls (no spin on your axis to make up down and down up):
So, someone hoping for full 3D, MoonBreaker is going to be disappointed (thanks EA!).
We all know what a "roll" is from playing the current space combat .. view stays the same, and your ship spins without the appropriate view changes. (aka dodge button)

If thats true, then who ever decided that must have something against fun. Does the grinch work at bioware?
Write bad things that are done to you in sand, but write the good things that happen to you on a piece of marble
Karteli I often agree with you but I believe you are really very wrong with this, you just keep looking at the WASD keys, but just like in Moonbreakers/Star Conflict you will actually steer direction with moving mouse left/right/up/down.
Besides Moonbreakers is anything but wishful thinking, it´s the bare minimum of multiplayer space combat pew-pew, and of course BW will like always deliver the bare minimum, some instanced timelimited warzone. Meh.
You know what wishful thinking was? A full space sim, free roam, 100+ systems, several ships from small size fighters to big size capital ships, cockpits, territory control, walking on ships. So basically, Star Citizen type gameplay added to SWTOR as an expansion.
What do we get? A handful of third person space warzones at best.
This is something that they have done consistently. If there is some feature in game, they have always delivered just the bare minimum of what that feature can do. I don't know what is wrong with them, but they seem to have a rule of making everything as basic as possible.
The odds are against any robust space game.
Survivor of the great MMORPG Famine of 2011
It seems like a big oversight to not include mouse steering controls in the load screen (yet include redundant left/right/up/down movement which is a staple to SWTOR basic movement + space combat, and other MMORPG's).
(*) I hope you are right though!
Stuff like @0:35 in the trailer, when the players ship seems to abandon a dogfight and (apparently) auto turn and attack a new ship not on-screen yet is a bit worrisome. It looked like a scripted flight path... or alternatively auto piloting / auto follow based on change of targets (E and R buttons).
I guess it doesn't help that the teaser is 65 seconds long, yet the game footage is only 7 seconds, with the rest being EA / BioWare / Star Wars logo's, intro cinematics, and an ad for SWTOR being F2P. .. Call me skeptical, but hey I grew up with those Nintendo commercials in the 80's / 90's, where game footage was rarely shown, and if so very briefly! Often times for very good reasons! (hehe)
Perhaps more info will come along to shed some light over the next several months.
ps: did anyone notice the blue force field in the background structure @0:18? Looks like the PVP respawn area .. ooh yeah.
