Ok.. here is a italian interview(questions and answers in english) with Dave Georgeson, and at least one new thing come out of it.

You can play as a crafter without any combat, it is possible, and viable.

Fantastic.  I am interested to learn how they will incorporate that to group mechanics, if at all.

I could see crafters gaining access to tiers in the world due to crafting, so maybe that is what he means ... not sure about how they will fair in combat though.

Ohh Im in trouble then, I played a full time crafter in SWG Pre-NGE and it was fantastic. In EQ2 I was in a top raiding guild for my server. Love both play styles. I'm going to be torn for sure.

Why would someone who only does crafting be in a group.

Why would the group want the crafter in the group to begin with?

Star Wars Galaxies. Deathwatch Bunker. I swear that game was too ahead of its time.

This is cool. Had a pure industrialist/crafter in SWG who focused in droid engineering and then transitioned into Ship engineering (shipwright). Probably the most fun I've had in an MMORPG.

It's probably going to be similar to Camelot Unchained.

    It's not hard to imagine....

I have always dreamed of a game where groups bring along crafters because of their specialized skills. Imagine this scenario:

A character is a knowledgeable geologist and skilled miner. He needs some amount of a rare ore for some purpose (e.g. work order issued by NPC, personal crafting project, guild project, etc.) But the ore is in a dangerous area, so he commissions some fighters to escort him. The group dungeon dives, the crafter gets the materials, and they all reap some sort of reward (e.g. work order issues XP/loot to entire group, crafter uses ore to make rare items for group-mates, guild benefits, etc.)

I want to see how the crafter UI will work and if it will be separate from the locked combat button bar.

Sounds like somebody never watched Sword Art Online. FFXIV:ARR has crafter only classes too. Crafter led groups will be bad ass in an mmo.

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

"That is the first time I have been asked about star wars galaxies to be honest"

and that about sums up 100% of the interviews done in the States, I have learned so much more from the Gamecon interviews, not because there is that much more information but because the questions are being asked in a more concise way with less wiggle room...and better perspective.

this is the first time they have been asked a question where the response needs to be "You can be a crafter without fighting" or the opposite. I think this is a IMPORTANT thing to ask in a self proclaimed sandbox MMO. Before gamescon there was also a lot of confusion about what it meant to have challenges be numbers dependent, some people here were taking that to mean that there would be phasing and instances but these interviews have more clearly laid out a design path that involves the player deciding on the scale of the challenge based on how many people he/she has not the computer deciding what to throw at the player based on the size of his or her group.

    Crafters are crazy!

Look at that scenario, and it becomes clear why.  The crafter, usually the underdog, becomes the main hero, and he hires some lowly fighters to clear the dungeon so he can get all the loot.  Then you have all the power with your newly crafted items.

Crafting in games like WoW sucks.  We get it, and there needs to be some small improvements.  But crafter don't want small improvements, they want to be escalated all the way to top dog.  They want all the power!  Crafters should control the economy, they should control the best gear, the should control progression, etc... They want crafters to be Gods, whilst the rest of us lowly servants should be grateful we are graced by their presence.
