Are there pet classes?

in Final Fantasy XIV
Are there true pet classes? I read summoner on the list...so is that a pet class?

    Arcanist and its two correlating jobs ('advanced classes'), Summoner and Scholar, have pets right now. They have active control of their pets, and those pets have special abilities that have to be managed so you could say they are 'true' pet classes.

    ok thanks for the responses. I told my friend I would go ahead and give the game a whirl. Not a huge FF fan, but I enjoy group oriented games. Also the P2P has me interested. Because I think it keeps alot of the trash out.

    Arcanist and its two follow on classes Summoner and Scholar are the current pet classes. Not much info yet as they are new to beta 4.

    Your chocobo will be fighting by your side so all classes/jobs have pets. Also known is that you can assign a role to your chocobo too like tank or healer or damage dealer.

    Black mage chocobo 

    White mage chocobo

    Wow.. I'll be getting this game.

    Chocobo companions were in phase 3 you unlock them through grand companies. The big downside with them is they cannot be used in instances. They're biggest use is for high class fates during the Cancer the Crab fate I was probably with 30+ people and I am pretty sure we all had our Chocobos set to healer lol.

     

    Also your going to want to get the chocobo armour as fast as you can they do not make very good tanks without it.

    Archanist is the main pet class in the game atm.

    There's also ~3 jobs that have pets.

    Scholar (Fairies) - healer oriented

    Summoner (the main pet class)

    Dragoon (Dragons) - more of a melee DPS class

    I played FFXIV since release 2010 and still playing now I haven't seen any dragons unless you're talking about FFXI

    I played FFXIV since release 2010 and still playing now I haven't seen any dragons unless you're talking about FFXI

    Currently Dragoons do not have their wyverns, though it's always a possibility.
