Oh yeah!  He was in that, though he was clearly outshined by the other action stars.  Good pointless action flick.

Why add his name if you weren't seriously doubting confidence in the poll?  Very premature discussion, really.  You know Blizzard is going to shock the world when it releases the casting news.

lmfao that would OWN! if it aint though! hahahah The sure to be critically acclaimed Oscar nominated Jet Li, Hero 2 Age of Wushu will crush it.

That being the case, I would think that the WoW movie will do quite well, particularly in the West.

Will the graphics be as good as LOTR?  If WoW puts a sexy gay male elf in their movie I'll resubscribe tho I've been away for more than five years.

And nothing, I didn't claim to be all of anything.  I just don't know if I'd watch a Wushu movie, but I do like Jet Li movies better than that running-on-trees romance in the desert bs.

It will be a generic chinese kung-fu movie, titled "Age of Wushu". I don't see any story/lore/plot in Age of Wushu and Google says: https://www.google.rs/search?client=opera&q=age+of+wushu+lore&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest

And the very 1st result (EPIC FAIL!!!) - http://www.ageofwushu.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11985

Guess what? Wow can make also generic shit movie, even worse than AoW, but still will be better. But, not gonna happens, sorry. And Wow has this: http://www.wowpedia.org/Novel_guide

Someone or OP said AoW has 15-20 million players - well, don't believe me, I don't have any source or evidence, but Blizzard games since WC3 played 50 milion unique players. So, that's 2x more. If someone want proves, prove me your statement, I'll do mine, for sure.

Also, Jet Li sux, Bruce Lee is way much better - if he would be main actor in AoW, Wow movie has nothing to do here, can only watch how AoW beats it easily. Bruce Lee is the only one who defeated Chuck Norris - but unfortunatelly is dead... Chuck is still alive and guess what??? Wow has Chuck Norris: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKYlARdbU1o

So, AoW movie is already doomed. Chuck Norris, it is.

A World Of Warcraft movie could have a full cast of unknown actors and still destroy any attempt of an Age Of Wushu movie.

I'm sorry, but the only way I would watch a AoW movie by choice is if Donnie Yen was the star, not Jet Li. Donnie Yen is amazing, much better than Jet Li imo. He's just not as popular. If you don't know who he is watch IP Man and IP Man 2. Either of those are better than any movie Jet has ever put out, sorry.

WoW will win the movie war. Let's be honest. You're comparing numbers world wide for a f2p game to a sub game. Err ummm okay. WoW may infact be down to 7 million people, but how many people altogether have ever tried WoW at least once? I doubt the claims of 15-20 million people playing AoW world wide very much. Even if they are counting registrations on their website I couldn't see them passing the 10 mil mark. You can point to 1-2 articles with 15-20 million players! I'll show you 30-50 articles with 10 million WoW subs.

Strictly on fan-boys WoW wins. As far as the general public is concerned that depends on the movie. I would assume WoW will have a better script/cast/director because of the money that can be thrown at it.

I personally won't go to a theater to see either movie, but if I was sitting at home looking for something to watch and they were both on I would have to go by audience reviews/actors in the films to make my decision.

It would actually make the movie better if it doesn't have stupid famous lollywood actors.

Also, an Age Of Wushu movie would be nothing more but a generic martial arts movie. A Warcraft movie will have so much depth and uniqueness.

An AoW movie might hit theaters in Asia, but would more than likely be a direct to DvD movie in the US.

A WoW Movie would pummel AoW because like it or not, hate it or not, EVERYONE knows what WoW is.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

How common is it for foreign films, and specifically Asian genre flicks, to get wide release in major cinema chains in the US?

Here in Australia, it almost never happens. The AoW movie you describe would certainly only screen in smaller arthouse cinemas, which would make it impossible for it to match WoW-movie's takings here.

There are MUCH better martial arts movies, compared to Crouching Tiger, in terms of both story, and fight choreography. For example: Once upon a time in china, IP Man 1 & 2, and also IP Man a Legend is Born.

CT is only famous because it is known to the US audience.

It is one of the most famous novels written by Louis Cha, better known as Jin Yong. Cha is vastly considered as the Godfather of modern Chinese Wuxia literature. He is like the Charles Dickens in English Literature or Agatha Christie in detective stories.

As a matter of fact, most Asian games are based on famous Chinese novels or historical events, therefore they resonate with Asians, particularly those with Chinese heritage, and generally do well when they are made into toys, films, TV series and such.

On the other hand, there is nothing in the Warcraft Universe that can tell anybody it is part of WoW. If there is ever a WoW movie (which will be a terrible investment), it will flop due to identity crisis.

Obviously World of Warcraft. This is no brainer.

Were talking worldwide now. Remember Wushu has more players than WoW worldwide, PLUS there are more martial arts fans than mmorpg gamers.

You gonna take you girl to go see a WoW movie or a movie staring Jet Li, like Hero?

The wording within your OP, poll and posts are very biased towards AoW. What's the point of conducting a biased poll other than to get everyone to agree with you?

A question to the OP - Would the movie be in Cantonese, Mandarin or  English (Jet Li has appeared in films spoken in these 3 languages)? If it's going to be in English you can most definitely discount the Chinese market as a box office hit and seeing that most of the 15 to 20 million players are non Westerners you'll be missing out there. If you want a movie to be a success then you make it in your target markets language.

Even though a subtitled movie like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" received 10 Oscar nominations, and a reasonable box office result http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=main&id=crouchingtigerhiddendragon.htm it in no way came close to being a box office hit. So you can, at best, hope to be as successful as this.

Unfortunately, Consistent and accurate data is not currently available for China according to Box Office Mojo (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/china/ read notes) so we don't know what's successful and what the movie industry takings are for China.

So you're probably left with making it for a Westerner target market to be a box office success. Westerners who know of or who have played WoW compared to AoW = a massive difference.

LOL Bully, you're alright with me.  And you know I love AOW, but I think you're reaching a little bit here.  World of Warcraft is waaaaayyyyy more heavily marketed in the US.  It's been around longer, more people have played it or have known someone else who has played it, and to be quite honest, AOW doesn't quite have the thematic presence yet that I think it needs to succeed at beating WoW in the theater.  A lot of people I talk to in that game don't even watch kung-fu flicks, which I find both disgusting and surprising at the same time.  Meanwhile WOW is all a lot of people know about the fantasy genre.  It is literally responsible for bringing people into the genre, which again, AOW has not had enough time to do.

So in spite of already having played AOW longer than I ever stuck with WoW, I have to vote WoW on this one.  Jet Li or no.

Besides, there are already a plethora of already classic movies out there that give the Age of Wushu experience.

Crouching Tiger HIdden Dragon (deals with Wudang)

Hero (deals with calligraphy, weiqi, and a lot of other topics native to AOW and is pretty much the precursor to AOW)

5 Shaolin Warriors (5 masters of death in the US) - Even has royal guards with the claw in it.

5 Deadly Venoms (deals with the constable) (This movie is even mentioned in WoW)

Master Killer (aka The 36 Chamber of Shaolin, a movie so great that the entire Wutang Clan had to do an album of the same name)  (deals with the Shaolin temple)

And "Storm Warriors" and "A man called Hero" just cause they're cool.

Oh wait, and let's not forget "The Drunken Master" featuring the legendary Jackie Chan.

All of these movies and more explore and preclude the concepts found in Age of Wushu.

So, given the same amount of care taken to both movies, an AOW movie would have to be really, really good in order to outgross the simple......pardon my pun, WoW factor of a WoW movie.

At least that's my opinion, who knows?

LOL I laughed at the most recent D&D movies also (because they were laughable.  Ray Liotta and Marlon Wayans? haha c'mon son!), but I mysteriously find myself leaving them on the TV whenever I pass them on Sci-Fi now.

I'm telling you, fanboism can go a long way.
