A friend of mine on virtue was floating up above the clouds, got to see the sun set, and then virtue went offline. At first, we thought that was the end, but it was still a perfect way to go out of the game.

I spent my last moments on Guardian with a torch in hand, on the balcony of city hall happy to see a crowd beneath Atlas.

When the servers finally went down, my friend and I talked for a few moments about the best MMO we had ever played with the best community we had ever been a part of while finishing off an old bottle of some very good scotch he had been saving up for some random occasion...

Here's to City of Heroes, for some of the most memorable gaming moments of my life.

Sadly I could not play the game without feeling violently sick but would to have loved to try it out properly.

The closing of any decent game is a shame and even more of a shame a game supported by a reasonable number of players going down is not good.

Hope you all fine new homes (EVE online is good :P)

    A sad day for many.

My Arachnos and Mastermind wont be forgotten, neither will that great community. Wish all of you the best wherever you land.

Fare Thee Well City of Heroes

Cling thee not to this world,
For it holds no more for you.
But Listen! Listen for the song from afar,
And heed the lilting call of the land that awaits.

Let your final breath slip from your silent servers,
And your empty connections fall from the internet.
Bend your tired brow to this life,
And let tumble the Statesman helm that once cradled your head.

Leave behind these acrid comments on the forums,
These swirling battlegrounds of flying metal, powers and mobs.
Depart from the players that filled your screens with destruction,
And abandon the hulk of metal and plastic that was your server.

    Hold not to this realm,
But hasten! Hasten down the twisting path to the mountains.
To the dark mountains and beyond,
    And across the shimmering sea.

Voyage then. Voyage thee well City of Heroes.
    Voyage thee well and long.
    Cross the great divide,
And find the land that beckons with its Siren’s song.

Where words and strife can follow you no more,
Nor can cruel troll and cold cheater reach.
Where rolling hills of soft sun and velvet grasses embrace,
And quiet waters sooth your beleaguered soul.

Then, lay thee down City of Heroes,
    Lay thee down and sleep.
    Dream the dream’s of victors…
    Loose the silver cord…
    And find your peace complete.

Fare thee well City of Heroes.
    Fare thee well.

I'm not a fan of any of the Superhero games that released after CoH, none of them could hold my attention for weeks never mind the years CoH did, and however much i hate to say it i doubt anything else will be released in the forseeable future that will remotely rival it. CoH had the advantage of releasing at the perfect time in the MMO industry and gamers old and new expect completely different things these days.

Good bye, CoH. A fun game that I'll always remember fondly. It wasn't like any other MMO that I ever played. And that's a very, very good thing.

The most senseless decision in MMO history since Star Wars Galaxies's NGE.

Hats off to you CoH players -- I feel your pain, and wish you the best.  Here's to a resurrection down the road sometime, somewhere.

lets work on getting a full game with issue 24 to work with out the use of the internet

    or

get Paragon Studios to buy off COH

    or

push  Cryptic studios to do something about running coh

    or

find ways to shut down ncsoft

     or

if you got better ideas put it on the round table lets others see it

    or ??????????
