I have little doubt that it will be released for PC at some point in the future.  Even still, it is a MMO.  The name of this site isn't PCMMORPG.

Many MMORPGs on PC are going to be on consoles too, Final Fantasy 14 for example.

Its silly to think mmorpgs that aren't on PC have to be excluded when games on PC that are barely MMOs themselves (Minecraft for example) get included.

Anyways, hope you overcome the agony of having a game on this website.

    AsRock Z710 Extreme7+ motherboard
Intel i7-6700K Skylake 4.0 GHz processor
    8 GB DDR4 3600 mhz RAM
    Samsung 850 Evo 2.5" SSD
    Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD
    Haf X case
Two MSI 980 Ti GPUs in SLI
Three 30" U3011 monitors at 7680x1600 resolution in Surround
An additional 27" Dell 4K monitor

Basically my gaming rig is made of money
    El Psy Congroo

There is a trading card game on this website, so I doubt I'll get flamed for making a good point.  When they started putting games like Diablo here, all rules went out the window.

I mean.. EQN and Project Titan are listed.  Sure, they will be MMO's for PC.. but literally zero information has been released on either game.

Might be a joke, but of al the titles to ps4 i have seen gameplay from, the division, looks likeits a fun tactical "mmo" thingymajingy which will let me use my tablet to control drones while im traveling or whatever, it does to me, seems to be the only nextgen game using that as a nextgen feature, and it loked fun, the only gmae so far for ps4 i liked the gameplay from, was hyped abut Destiny, not so much anymore.

edit: not even gonna cerrect this mas of bad spelling, its friday!!! :)

"Only on next gen" (with big charaters)

"Powered by our new game engine Snowdrop™, tailor-made for next-gen consoles, Tom Clancy’s The Division achieves a whole new level of gameplay quality. Snowdrop takes full advantage of the new consoles with dynamic global illumination, stunning procedural destruction and an insane amount of detail and visual effects."

Sooo, i am sure not for pc.(ok, just guesting)

I think it's going to be an awesome game, but I don't feel it should be on the hype meter. It's neither MMO or RPG. But, MMORPG.com doesn't seem to care.

Where do you think those consoles get their hardware from?  You guessed it, modded computer parts.

Only on next gen.  Yes, I agree.  Does it say 'Only on next gen consoles?'  Oh... No?  Huh.  Interesting.

Turns out you were wrong anyways.  =)

Interesting.. as The Division actually is a massive multiplayer game.  It's also an online game.  And, funny enough, it has a TON of RPG elements throughout the entire game, from the information we know now.

So... you tell me how this game is neither a MMO or RPG.  I think perhaps you don't understand what those acronyms actually mean.

We could make a laundry list of games that technically aren't mmorpg like Diablo 3, Guild Wars, Destiny, etc. but because they are games typically within a mmorpg fan's wheelhouse, they are here by reasonable accommodation. The Division is as worthy of accommodation as any of those and more than most.

I guess that's one way to 'win' an argument. Respond to them two to three years later.

Hey, you win an argument by any means necessary =P

I'm pulling from the snowdrop engine description, directly off of the main page of their website.

'Powered by the next-gen Snowdrop engine, Tom Clancy’s The Division sets a new bar in video game realism and open world rendering. Experience a chaotic and devastated New York like you’ve never seen before.'

They have stated that the PC experience will not be a port as well.  So it seems as though the engine as it relates to the PC will be tailor made for the PC platform.  And it doesn't matter quite honestly, as the PC can do everything either console can do, and better.  So by default, anything designed for consoles will work quite well on PC.

So it's likely that they simply changed their description based on adding PC development.  Regardless, what exactly is 'next-gen' anyways?  It seems more like marketing jargon than an actual thing.

That's easy. PS4 and Xbox One and NOT PS3 or Xbox 360. That was one of the big beefs with Destiny (one of many actually). That making versions for these older machines dogged it and forced Bungie to make serious cuts that affected people with PS4s and Xbox Ones. Whether that was the actual reason for it is irrelevant because the point is that Ubi saying "next gen" is a signal to fans that they don't have to worry about dumbing the game down so to speak so that it will run on the older systems.

So, would PC always be considered 'next-gen' if you are comparing it to consoles?

I still feel like it's just a buzzword to get people interested.  And not really an actual thing.

Gen almost always refers to consoles. Most everyone with experience of consoles knows exactly what you are talking about when you say "next gen". If you want to be more precise, PS4, Xbox One is Eighth Gen. Now I don't have much experience of people using it for PC's, but if they do then I would agree that it is much more fuzzy because the difference between a PS3 and PS4 is huge whereas the latest graphics card is well, just the latest graphics card and doesn't really warrant calling it next gen.

It is slang and buzzy, but that doesn't mean it isn't a thing in the right context.

PCs have always identified technology advancements as generations. Processors, video cards, system boards, ram, the list goes on i'm sure. In fact, for the most part their nomenclature tells you what generation of technology is being used. I see what you're saying though, for a console it's more of a buzzword, but anyone who builds their own PCs can attest to hardware generations being around the PC world long before consoles started using it. I can't say this for sure, but ever since consoles have basically become limited PCs is when you started hearing that "next gen"  label for them.
