Pure DPS?

MightyUncleanMightyUnclean Member EpicPosts: 3,531

I saw on the official site that the four released classes are listed as DPS/Tank or DPS/Healer.  These days, I'm most interested in just playing straight DPS.  Have they said anywhere that spec'ing and playing as pure DPS is viable?

Thanks!

It's DPS/Tank as in you can DPS or Tank specifically, like in PvP, there are no tanks.

Yes, you can definitely go pure DPS. The milestone system lets you spec pure damage if you want.

agreed both games did tanks in PvP but I think War did it better as fullt ank specs were very desirable in RvR and scenarios whilst hybrid specs or full dps tanks are more desirable in SW:TOR.

    According to youtube and wikis:

What they mean by dps/healer and dps/tank is that the class will have abilities from each set.

You are limited in the # of abilities you can slot, so if you want to max your dps you would only slot dps abilities, not tank/heal abilities.  A dps/heal class could slot both dps and heal abilities, but it wouldn't be as effective at either as someone who only slotted abilities from one or the other.

Each class also has dps/tank/healer stats which will give certain bonuses/ abilities as you reach certain stat levels (milestones.)

So the more dps stat gear you wear, the more dps bonuses/ abilities you will get on top of the effect from the dps stat itself.

Wiki with some example data.  See 'builds' at bottom.
