ArcheAge's creative freedom

KumaponKumapon Member EpicPosts: 1,563

For those that don't know ArcheAge has a built in creation tool set. Using this tool set players can import pictures files in the game and then place them on various objects that they have created in game.

Korean players have created some weird and wild creations.

Here is an example, a Korean player has created their own Starbucks using the creation tools, and is selling Frabs and Mocha's!

Again using the tools you can create anything you want, we will have to see if Trion will have these tool for the Na version.

Wow. Lol. The player went all out didn't s/he? Despite the effort on the player to adjust the logo, etc., I wonder how the lawyers of Starbucks will react. I'm sure if that's done by US player, I'm sure Starbucks lawyers will send cease and desist letter to Trion :p. I'm surprised they didn't in SK.

As much as something like this can truly inspire creativity and art.. it's probably going to be used in the worst ways imaginable.

Yea I am curious to see what Trion will do with the creation tools. Korean players are placing product placements all over the place in AA using these tools.

It's like Game of Thrones, if it was made by a 1980's marketing department.

There is no way to be certain who gets to see these. If they are local mods that only the user sees and the game simply allows for that, maybe add in a submission option for public stuff but it is screened first. Otherwise, yea this can only end up going in one of two directions. Pron and spam.

These are in-game and not client-side only mods. You can read about it on English and other-western fan-sites and forums, like the German or Russian ones.

Korean version is filled with user-made coca-cola vending machines, soft-erotic pictures of Korean models plastered on lamp posts, player buildings, anime characters pictures skins on players cloaks or ship sails, also with player-made objects that look like refrigerators, power-generators, air conditioning and so on + all crazy s**t you could think of.

    image

Again it's NOT client side. Anyone and everyone can see it, and nothing is screened, I'm just not posting any of the soft porn shown in game..lol

That said, it could be that part of the "Westernizing" of the game that they are taking this kind of stuff out of the game and making it more straight laced fantasy. Guess we'll see when it comes out and we get the reviews.

I for one hope this Is taken out for the western game, or edited so all this crap doesn't fill our servers.

Well, in those screenshots it's called "Starbox" not "Starbucks". If you look closely, even the emblem is different. Starbucks can't really pull any lawsuits because no law has been broken.

I'd totally want the Creation Tool to remain. Who cares if people wish to add anime into the game? That's the beauty of SANDBOX.

Im on the fence. I would want to be able to customize my sails and cloaks but to post up billboards with what ever someone feels fit to post? that will cause a ton a trouble. this has to be watched very VERY closely

That's one way to look at it.

Years ago, when sword of the new word was being made, a question was put to the head designer/creator about allowing players control to modify and dye their clothes and outfits.

His response was "no, they would just make it all look ugly".

Seems to me that when players are given a lot of control they really can "make it all look ugly". Now, having said that, what we see here is probably far better than what some players could put in this game.

It's all too eclectic for my taste.

well I find it entertaining, so I want it in, but I do doubt it will be allowed in US version, now just wonder it will be in the EU version : P

It's cool to have creation options.

But I honestly don't want any of that in a medieval fantasy themed world.

Thats' the problem, it's not a medieval fantasy world. It only looks like that until you look at the other stuff.

does that mean i can run around looking like batman, thats awsome!

who wants to make a guild called Justice League

  • tokinitokini Member UncommonPosts: 372

game would be filled with giant penis towers within 5 minutes of the servers going live.

plus US copyright laws would never allow it, even if it see as 'free advertising' the copyright holder is required to defend it, or risk losing it.  if it gets really out of hand it will be squashed.

Why are they even bothering sending this product our way, I remember being really happy about this game, but now I will not go near this game. They seem lost or something I just don't know.

I don't like the cars or this new thing or anything about it anymore. It seems to have run its full course with me and has never been released.

The Op is pulling our leg! or something. At this point they need to figure out how to add it to Facebook and they just might make some money, but it will not be with the mmo crowed.

Stuff like this makes me lose faith in the MMO genre.  If you think these screenshots can't get anymore ridiculas wait till Archeage goes full launch in the US. The amount of trolling will get absurd.

I am totally OK with players being allowed to do this stuff in game.

I am also OK with things like this being a Casus Belli, followed by me burning your house down.

Na I am not pulling anyone's leg here, ArcheAge does have creation tools where players can create anything they want.

Here is someone that created a K-POP concert stage, and is RP'ing K-POP artists.

    Where Doomed where all Doomed!

Kidding aside it has just become to much freedom for the players, and can we please have a company not try and please everybody and their grandmother!  Maybe Verant new there was nothing else out there, so they just did what they wanted and you had to live with it and we loved it, or at least us old timers. This is only my personal thoughts.
