Q1 2013 Financial Report Is Up

Things are apparently looking up for the company, so there's no reason to expect TSW to lose development time.

TSW's sales are up over Q4 2012 too, which is a plus.

Good for them! :-)

Not everything is great though. The downside is that a lot of their profit came from the restructuring, so people had to lose their jobs for Funcom to continue operating.

There's also some information on the Lego Minifigs MMO they are developing. It sounds suspiciously sandbox, but also suspiciously casual because it will have both a browser and a PC client (Unity?), with a tablet client in development.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

As for sales being up over Q4 2012.

    No duh.

No subscription cost. There's been several sales of the game for 14.99$

OF course sales are up, like any game that goes B2P / F2P.

Totally agree. And the jump in revenue is significant. If they can sustain the sales then the cost reductions will see them turn a profit. And being profitable will be good for the game. Remains to be seen though. A stark reminder that revenues up doesn't mean a company / game has become profitable. (Caveat: TSW is not all of Funcom's results at the moment of course but it is a big part).

Not sure why going B2P though isn't done more often. Guild Wars has achieved success for years now. Maybe Funcom learnt from AoC. Simply going F2P and then trying to get people to o become "gold" or "preferred " or whatever a company wishes to call it for maybe $5 and please buy this fluff. F2P from day 1 - very different; post sub - I am sceptical.

    True.

    Post sub says this.

"Our game wasn't as good as we thought it would be."

The time where people throw money to dev's each month so they can sit on their ass delivering slow contend is over.
To many mmo's taking a completely new route like BtP / FtP.

Iam curious to see what FF ARR will do , iam looking forward to it, and iam ready to lay down a sub each month if the game delivers.
If it doesnt then i hope they have a backup plan asap.
MMO's just can take that chanse to gamble on millions of subs to make profit, they have to make a Plan B and plan C these days.
