The reason I quit Wushu

BlueTiger33BlueTiger33 Member Posts: 158

So, if after playing for a while you start comparing your cult to other's cult and numbers popping...let me tell you something. Straight cultivation with no exp balls filled, I get ~280cult. With all exp balls filled I get ~2200 cult per pop.

Want to know how I kept all exp balls continually full? I hit missions at the bottom right, did all the daily things and would log out. That's it. After 6 days of doing that and finding the "golden rule" in wushu that dailies > all for exp balls I made a new account and I have all my abilities at lvl 3, 2 meridians at 9/9 and inner cult is 21 after just  7 days with this method.

So, while the game tries to connect everything like a web, all you *really* need to do is all the daily quests on the mission tab and you will max out your exp orbs quite fast.

That being said, once I found the "hidden secret" (all on my own) I realized how everything is forced into a web and I've since uninstalled.

Long post, not sure what all I'm saying here but basically it's that once I realized the exp balls and how to keep them topped offf...the game really just lost it's "novelty" feeling for me.

autorun from npc to another is the biggest reason to quit mmo no matter what there might have been to offer .

I actually enjoyed that. It allowed me to play the game while I eat my breakfast. :P

I've got a few crafters I'm not even carrying if they level, but I am having fun crafting. I have another which I do care about leveling, but again I'm having fun doing random stuff.

If your main goal is to max and get to the top and insist on riding the fast train to get there, it's not the game's fault.

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

The jump from around 250 to 2k is a hell of a jump though. Just think of all those around you blazing past you while you craft lol.

I quit because I just found the game bad for various reasons, the combat felt clunky, there really was no reason to go out and kill NPC's since you never gained XP or much loot for it. The daily cap on a lot of things was way to low, and doing the same crap everyday got really old really fast. Basically the game just got really boring for me. Was on Open beta when I played, never bothered with release since it wouldn't have changed much at all most likely. Best thing about it was the female chars and the clothing IMHO, but the rest of the game just wasn't interesting to me.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

But... but... it's a sandbox! Obviously you just weren't playing it right.

I kid! I kid!   Sorry the game didn't pan out for you. For me, it was a very shallow and repetitive game, but others here seem to be finding a lot more diversity and engaging gameplay than you and I did.

I do not think you really understand the game mechanics...not makes much sense what you are complain ng about.

Having lots of cultivation points does not really give you any advantage nor it matters. It just means that you have...lots of cultivation points...so what?

I'm guessing the OP got trashed in the newly released Battlefields and decided the game wasn't for him/her.

Perfectly fine reason, but to disguise it with that nonsensical post seems unnecessary.

how are you keeping all 5 balls topped off when each one holds 999 and the max total xp you can have is 999.  You are like 4k experience over the max.

I just have like 500 in one ball and 50-200 in 3 othersl for a total of 999 and its not letting me get any more xp.

    what am i missing?

The reason I quit was because I had my primary school skill up to around 32. Would login once a day to keep the xp running. A few weeks ago I logged in and somehow the skill was now level 11. Not sure what happened..

You were probably actually at 31, which shows as 11 in every inner, its a known bug.

Ahh thanks for the info. I was really disheartened by that lol

Uh, the point of this game is not to figure out a fast or easy way to level your things that are levelable.  The point is to engage in the PVP.  AOW is a PVP.  If you are not there for the PVP, don't bother to play the game.

NPC Quests?  Uh....not this game.  Once you finish the tutorial, don't ever talk to a NPC again...lol.  This isn't a quest game.  This is a PVP game, everything revolves around that.  Crafting....it is there to support the PVP backbone of the game.  The very best way to get EXP if you want to avoid any kind of PVP is to spy on other schools.

But here is the point.  Why are you gaining all that EXP in the first place?  The "goal" of this game is to create some sort of character to take part in the PVP..

So, yes, you are playing the game wrong.

Not that I agree with the OP's reasoning but, wow, you are making quite a leap in your deduction.

Honestly never learned all the extra crap for wushu, I liked the strategic parry/block/break system A LOT, and how all the skills worked to counter them etc. But in all honesty, I HATE SANDBOX, its so diluted and unclear what you have to do half the time/ and then once you figure it out your already left in the dust from all the people who understood what to do so many days before because of the endless amount of shit you can stack on one character is so insane the gap between you and other characters can be kind of immense so unless you play endlessly, learn all the secrets, scrolls, the gear/enhances/ding(money)you have to get, omg its just so much crap to keep track of, all I want to do is pvp  and I have to do all this sandbox crap to get to the best of it.. .wtffffff....

And I have to say the worst part about sandbox is how the economies work. Real world money is always gonna get involved and here it does too. Almost every maxed outish person just buys a ton of ding, and I just dont have the money to compete like that in real life.

That's a half-truth.  A lot of this game is based off of your in-game "reputation".  You either get rep with scrolls which are rare, doing instances, or NPC quests and guild wars.  Baidu (sp) stronghold has some high rep qiving quests that are practically right next to each other.  However, instance running and those Baidu NPC quests are the quickest way to gain your rep unless an instance event is going on, which is.....you guessed it.....an NPC quest.  So yeh, you might get a little far with a meager rep, but eventually it will catch up to you.  Then you will be forced to do something repetitive (a.k.a. PVE grind).

So no, the point of the game is not just PVP.  You have to get into instances and do PVE for recipes and flying skills or spend a lot of unbound taels acquiring it on your own.  Of course you can be carried by a guild for a little while, but the good guilds will soon recognize this and make you carry your own weight or show your worth.  This is a good thing because then they can decide if you are worthy of holding an actual leadership position in the guild or if you are just another random guild member.

Wushu has dailies? I've been playing almost 7 months, and never seen or did one. What are they?

No worries, AoW isn't a sandbox. Very much for the reasons you described - typical gear/level threadmill.

Game economy is a joke, bad one.

You are wrong. You can do a few escort quests a day and then take it easy. You don't need more than 1,000 a "pop". Even 370 a "pop" still increases your cultivation faster than you spend the cultivation. You also get HUNDREDS of jackdaw if you do other things. If you only play the game for progression, you're doing it wrong. No wonder you quit.

Forced into a web? You are progressing in a totally different way than me, and I am still making great progress. But honestly now, you quit because you found a personal distaste for a progression pattern you discovered? Progressing isn't everything in this game. If it were, almost nobody but instant gratification drones would play, and that's obviously not the case here.

The economy is fine. I found that early on prices were extremely high because of demand and items had very different prices because the economy wasn't adjusted to a norm. Now you will find a lot of items from vender to vender with very similar prices. The game is more of a hybrid between a sandbox mmo and a themepark. It doesn't do either completely.

Why can''t you see that? I have a lot to criticize about AoW, but at least I get my facts straight first. Being wrong in the face of obvious facts is an injustice to the mmorpg community. Nothing more.

There is a reason to kill NPC's. There are quests for it, if you're that sort of player. There is another core reason to do it. Killing NPC's increases Qi which is used to cultivate Meridians. You seem to have a very shallow understanding of a game with fairly complex mechanics.

I wouldn't say it was really all that much of a typical gear treadmill, nor did it have levels. There was gear just like every mmo, and that gear could be enhanced etc. but it wasn't the normal, pvp for pvp gear, or pve for pve gear, AKA themepark. I couldn't really go into that great amount of detail about it because when I saw the game for the huge undertaking it is and just gave up.

Age of Wushu is definitely as sandboxy as it gets.

Levels were these things called inner, it was much like eve where you had to train skill over time but you had to do activities in game to earn the exp to cultivate it into abilities.

I didn't say the economy was bad, I thought it was kind of cool tbh, like someone said above the prices were redic, atleast when I started playing on black tort when the game was launched, but I'm sure they are lower now.

I never said the game was BAD, it actually pretty awesome, one of my friends is really really in love with it actually, but I just can't stand it. Why? Because it's a legitimate sandbox, too many thing to keep track of in the game to be able to play casually and still be the best, what I love about themepark is the ability to grind the gear I need doing what I love (Pve for pve, and pvp for pvp), in sandbox games this usually isn't the truth you have to do all elements of the game to truly be competitive and sometimes that's too much.

    A couple of questions.

    1. Are you VIP?  Because a lot of what makes this game fun to me is being able to play it for free and still exist among the paying players.

    2. How much time daily did it take you to do all of your dailies?  I've looked at that list and it's not something that I can get done in my daily allotment of time.

    3. Even if you did get that much cult to click off, how were you getting it to go into your skills any faster?  Team Practice has breaks, private practice has breaks, so no matter how much cultivation you have saved up, you can really only grow as fast as anyone else who can grow at the fastest rate possible, which is to team practice till that runs out, practice alone until they have reached their wen limit, and then spend their real money until they reach that limit (if there is one haha), and then leave it on passive cultivation.

So how did this burst in cultivation lead you to believe that you had somehow found some kind of edge?

Does VIP allow you to spend as much money as you can put into the system on personal practice?  Because if that is the case, then there might actually be some reason for concern, because that is definitely pay to win.

    So is that the case?
