So exactly like P2P games for last 8 years or so? That's my problem. If a F2P game offers me exactly the same core experience as P2P game, why would I ever choose the paid version ?

Give ma MMO worth the sub, with actual depth, with no cash shop(even vanity), regular content updates and polished core mechanics (both PvE and PvP) and I won't mind spending those 15$ a month. I'm afraid that won't happen anytime soon because of simple fact - MMOs are expensive to make, and no studio with enough money to make something like this will risk loosing the "casual" market.

    Same as P2P ones.

And GW2 is not F2P game, so what does that have to do with GW2 anyway.

Of course its a f2p, you just have to buy the client.

Yah, im really astonished what people call free these days.

I chuckle every time i hear "you get 500 FREE coins"...if you PAY 15$ for subscription.

I don't play any game with subs, so I wouldn't play GW2 if it had a sub.

    Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders

It's not worth a sub fee, really. It's an extremely casual friendly game with a shop.

I hate this stupid question. It's designed for one of two answers:

    * Yes- I would pay a subscription, therefore proving that B2P is not the best option

    * No, I would not pay a subscription, therefore proving that the game is not worth a subscription fee.

    It's a lose-lose question with no purpose.

GW2 would not be GW2 if it had a subscription. Period.

Probably, but since from day 1 the game had been announced out of the gate as having no subscription fee I'd be disappointed if one were added. Is the game worth a sub fee? Hell yeah. Had they announced from day 1 that there would be a sub I wouldn't have blinked.

But you know what? None of this matters. It's one of if not the best MMO on the market, and there's no sub fee. That's a reality I'm happy with.

    Oderint, dum metuant.

Dont ask me to explain this to you either. You know exactly what i mean. If a Sub keeps you people out of a at least one decent game, then ill be happy to pay a sub.

Haha, you've got to be kidding me. I don't like the P2P and will not play a game with a sub. You know why? Because as soon as there is a sub the quality of the game is diluted with stupid time sinks to keep you hooked.

I also hate the F2P MMOs though. I find it ridiculous what they are trying to do. Rip you off like crazy. I find it very annoying to see those dollar signs over every feature. Ideally I would like a game which you pay for the box and then pay for DLCs/Expansions. That's fine. I am more willing to pay for content like this. But I am not willing to go down the stupid F2P route.

But overall, I think the whole problem is with the nature of MMOs. MMOs are horrible nowadays imo. They are like those games on Facebook. If I had to choose between a F2P MMO and a P2P MMO I would always go for the P2P. I just hate the feeling that F2P MMOs give me - cheap crappy failed games which charge you for everything.

Anyways I have stuck mostly to console gaming and non-MMO PC gaming. It's a lot more expensive than just paying 1-2 subs for a MMO but it is much more enjoyable and it is worth it.

Actually, a lot of the new indie games are fun on both the console and the PC. I have been playing a lot of those lately due to the lack of something better. Skyrim could only carry me so far. I have also started to play PNP games for my roleplaying needs. My son likes to play and it helps him with this speech impediment and is also good for developing critical thinking skills.

Nah.  The only reason I still jump back in for an hour here and there is because it's free.

I still wouldn't pay a sub even if they got rid of the cash shop and gems for gold exchange, un-nerfed farming, provided reasonable ways to obtain the best gear that can be done solo, and made the staff ele something besides a boring, awkward annoyance.

Now if they managed all of the above and then added an expansion with open world housing and interesting new places to explore I'd think about it.

Wouldn't pay monthly for any game period, even my dream MMORPG or game period, I'd never pay a sub.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

Hats off for the unknown OP by stirring random haters and famous GW2 fanboizzzz by just asking a simple question. Gotta love this kid of poster.

You see, reading posts like yours make me feel good about P2P starting to be thing of the past (even Blizz is considering F2P since they dropped to 8m now).

Feeling entitled and "important" because you pay 15/month rofl. Yes we know that kind.

I saw what you TRIED to do there but you missed the mark. maybe next time.

What a great thread for organizing different mmorpg.com members into categories.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

nah... to me, gw2 is one of those games you play for the free month and then drop and then maybe pickup when there is a special free offer like a year later.

Own the Deluxe edition and only played to level 35, so hell no.  I honestly wouldn't play it if I were paid 15 a month to play it.

No I would not pay a sub for Guild Wars 2. Even if it was free I would not play it.  I would gladly pay a sub fee for a mmo that has what I am looking for in a mmo.

I found 60$ was too much for this kinda boring single-player game w/o content.

I found many, even large, same zones, same stuff to do, same way to develop any of race etc.

    So NO WAY.

For record: don't play anymore, check account like once in a while, most after silly pushing e-mails.

try before buy, even if it's a game to avoid bad surprises.
Worst surprises for me: Aion, GW2
