    SWTOR

Agree on all counts.  Oh, and Wish by Mutable Realms.

Tabletop RPG gaming since Chainmail and D&D was a blue book with some cheap plastic dice and a crayon. MMORPGing since MOOS/MUDS, when forums were just bulletin boards and players actually roleplayed their characters.

    Ill say it....

    SWG.

Great ideas, terrible execution and bugs that were persistent until the day they pulled the plug.  This game is one half of the reason why there has not been a true AAA western Themepark in almost 10 years.  The other reason, of course, is the WOW factor.

It didn't turn out how the developers originally said it would turn out.

War hammer online. I would still be playing it. Love the ip and lore.
  • udonudon Member UncommonPosts: 1,803

Tabula Rasa for sure.  Playing that game was a heart break because all the pieces where there to make a great game.

I didn't mind leveling in SWTOR at all and think it's well done.  End game on the other hand is a completely different story.

Yeah WAR. i am a big fan of the war-hammer universe, but it just did not have the technical finesse to make the game great. As far as WoW is concerned, i believe when people consider it's greatness, they are speaking of the quick downward spiral of  pandering( or panda-ering for a pun) to the under 15 crowd by changing the combat interfaces and making it practically into an arcade/platform game. Don't get me wrong i thoroughly enjoyed the game, cataclysm was a shotgun wound to the legs, but panderia was by far a fragmentation cannon round to the chest. High numbers doesn't necessarily transfer into quality.

In no particular order, my three are:

    WAR

    AoC

    TCoS (The Chronicles of Spellborn)

    Vanguard , AoC,  Gods & Heroes( x 2 ) :P

besides WAR, every single Funcom MMO. i can understand GW2 for its potential, but the execution is head and shoulers above TSW, AoC and AO. It's worse than it should be, but not close to a failure of those proportions. It actually has great execution on many of its ideas and when you look at the fact that despite the attitude of most of this forum(which is identical for every MMO that's well liked, yes even SWG and DAoC and EQ a decade ago, i was here) it's not a failure at all.

Auto Assault. The game was incredibly fun & bug free, but ultimately ended up feeling too much like a single player game. This of course caused most people to quit.

It's a sad day indeed when a family is too afraid of reprisals to publicly thank somebody for saving their lives.

    War

    AoC

    TSW

You know Funcom should be paid to come up for concepts for competent people to develop not develop themselves.

  • eldariseldaris Member UncommonPosts: 353

WAR ,it could have been a great mmo if it launched more polished,3 factions, better crafting and pve,a world not zones linked by portals

None of the games you mention even come close to D&L, if you were really here you would know this. Most here were not about when D&L was being made so they wouldn't know what a real failure is.

TERA gets my vote. If only the game had better character progression because the quest system it has just destroys everything else the game offers.

dark and light didn't even qualify as a game with executed features.
