24 hour Temp Suspension

darren28darren28 Member UncommonPosts: 60

Ok so I was suspended for 24 hours and I thought it was because I had a Foundry zombie farm xp map but that wasn't the case as my map was not deleted.

All the zombies can attack you and no boxing or trapping was laid down. It didn't have a story line or anything so I thought maybe it was because of that also.

At this point I am fairly confused because I cannot think of anything else that would have caused the suspension. I have emailed customer support and waiting for a response but that can take 3 or 4 days total and only 1 has passed so far.

Should I delete my Foundry map just in case so I don't get suspended again?

It is really aggravating that you do not get an email when the suspension starts as most companies at least do that bare minimum.

I can play again which is nice and all but not really sure I want to as they are just throwing out suspensions left and right. Also just to note that I never played any Foundry farm maps the majority of my leveling has been through questing, skirmishes, and dungeons. I don't have any alts so I wanted to experience all of the game the first time through.

Anyways I am drinking so I am rambling on but yea let me know what you guys think about all this. I haven't made a post on this site in years so just to let you all know it does take a lot to disturb me.

Update I just checked my inbox in the game and it says it was in violation and has been banned.  I still don't understand because when I click on The Foundry on the character select screen my Map and everything is still there it did not get deleted.

Shall I delete now since it appears they forgot to delete it?

Delete it and think of it as an opportunity to make a better version with a storyline.

Start with the players being sent to investigate the disappearance of a town, first part of the story will be coming across a family being swarmed by zombies and the player(s) have to defend them for a period of time (maybe their wagon is stuck or a family member is pinned and they need you to buy them time), then have the player(s) fight their way through zombies to reach the town's church, then an escort section to bring the local priest to the graveyard, and finally another defend section where the player(s) have to protect the priest as he does his thing to quell the zombies.

That is what happens when you create a map to farm for easy XP/exploit. That wasn't the purpose of the Foundry and punishments are necessary so that people get the point.

I didn't do anything that exploited it just didn't have a story line. I understand how the Ogre map with them trapped and you cannot be touched is a exploit but how in the hell was mine exploiting anything?

Who cares what we think, what do you think you should do?

Players can now report a foundry for violating. Possible some did for whatever reason, bugs or they just didn't like it (jerks are aplenty), and you got auto suspended - I mean they probably don't have time to manually review all missions.. Just taking a wild guess.

My opinion is that missions without a story shouldn't be allowed, and if your aim is to get to 60 asap, you are missing the point of gaming.

I have deleted the map and my feelings toward the company and the Foundry system has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I will continue playing the game because I am bored and have no life.

kjempff if you read my 1st post all the way through you should notice that wasn't my goal at all. I made this map for others not myself. I am level 25 and have had the game 5 days minus 1 so not rushing at all.

Yeah I happen to agree about dungeons with no story. Farming mobs is not an exploit, putting them in locations which exploit game mechanics is (such as in cages or in a room of traps).

If certain mobs were giving too much experience then by all means correct it, but they are now targeting dungeons which are not exploitative in any way other than offering a place to farm without interference from other players.

I've always felt that an exploit is proof of human incompetence and or ignorance. Not an insult, just saying that no one is perfect. Following that train of thought I don't think that people should be punished for someone else's stupidity. If people don't see any value in the rest of the game and would prefer grinding out identical mobs in an enclosed dungeon, that says more about their game then anything else. This isn't even like the gold duping in D3, this is just XP.

    -1 for PW / Neverwinter

I don't mind the game so far but they have higher priority issues to deal with before finding time to ban people for first time minor offences.

I don't see what the big deal is. If people want to skip out on content & miss the entire point of the game by grinding mobs to max level (A la most other ARPGs) then who the hell cares? As long as the mobs can access the player and aren't prohibited from attacking, I see no reason why it shouldn't be allowed.

It's a sad day indeed when a family is too afraid of reprisals to publicly thank somebody for saving their lives.

I think it all falls down on semantics. What is the definition of an "exploit"?

In the most general terms an exploit is the use of a feature in a way it was not intended by the designer.

The foundry was not created to make easy farming.

Pretty surprising that they would suspend players without any information on why whatsoever.  What purpose does that even serve?  You can't alter your behavior if you don't know what you did wrong in the first place.  As for maps with no storyline.. seriously?  Most players just skip everything you can read anyway.  Peter Griffin video upthread is perfect.

which is why devs should be a hard limits on how fast you can make gains.  If they think it should take 400 hours to reach cap, hard code it.  The exploiters will complain but at least you have shown a reason why devs should do it.

So my fight club campaign is illegal?  I haven't published it yet.  It's going to have like 10 guys per chapter, each guy is different hehe and they get harder :)
  • darren28darren28 Member UncommonPosts: 60
The name fight club could get the map banned possibly also.

I will make sure my map with naked chinese lesbians massacring  two year old babies and eating their remains has a full story and no ogres so I will be fine.

It was really obvious that the first thing people would create is an XP farm.

And did they see this before beta launched, nope.
