But hey, it's your money and not my problem. You got to stick it to the "fanboys" which was more inmportant to you than getting a better deal. Huzzah!

    Yes, glad that happened also.

They were in the wrong, and if they were this annoying on forums, just imagine how they would be in the game!

Community is everything when it comes to MMORPG's, many of you forget this and paid for it.

Yes and no, it gives you an understanding of the possible community issues that could come later after the game launches. You may be surprised what overzealous people are capable of, and I think you underestimate them.

Only if you think a pretty high percentage of the 10,933 current backers are acting this way. Perhaps you overestimate them?

I also wouldn't give them the satisfaction of steering me one way or another if that were the case. Theres probably a lot more people in MMOs these days i would rather avoid than "group" with. There is a really good chance these people will have no effect on my play in this game whatsover. And i am pretty thankfull for that . The "good" folks however, make it all worthwhile.

I'm curious, how many PvP focused games have a reputation for having mature and friendly communities?

Community USED to be everything. During the first generation it was. After 2004 and the themepark era, not o much. Very easy to start over and not really lose any ground once you've worn out your welocme with a given character.

I'm not saying those that spammed were right. I am saying that those of you who think that is even a significant portion of the CU community and thus indicative of the whole are way off base. But hey, it's a tiny straw for you to grasp at to further throw your hate at a project. By all means, carry on and as in the end you are no better than the ones you think you are persecuting.

I just hope your heads don't explode if the KS makes and honestly these guys don't set a KS goal unless they have a backup plan. I wouldn't be surprised if they have backers who were told to wait to the end and that those backers were good for X amount. And we have past the dollar amount where X amount will fund it.

That aside, As I said in 2004 and now again 9 years later, I still don't see why some of you make it your daily pleasure of wishing other people don't get the kind of game they want. I know part of it is you are selfish because this would be another game that isn't meant for you. I just don't know why else.

Guild Wars 2, Tarnished Coast server.  Has the most mature, friendly community I've stumbled across in many years.  Though there was a guy in /map chat tonight complaining that someone petitioned his name; he kept trying to blame it on a roleplayer.  He should have known someone wouldn't like it when he named himself "My Butts On Fire."

I got the same thing this article describes. I get so sick and tired of the massive spam. The spam the game press spreads around when another Call of Duty is about to hit the market. Gods everywhere that damn game shows up with identical articles that seem to be the exact same article i read a year before, and the year before that, and the year before that.

In all seriouseness it is anoying i can understand that. It is a shame the fans are so dedicated that they forgot that it only hurts the game when hundreds or thousands of people send the same mail to the same people. Perhaps they should have organized. Selected a few people who would all send a few mails to certaint contacts. But come on game press, you are doing the exact same thing with your articles and spamming three times a week a huge article about a halo, a CoD or any other big payed advertised shooter.

    I'm glad there's a GW2 server with a good (better than my server's) community.

It's just that when I think "PvP focused", GW2 doesn't really spring to mind. ;)

As opposed to a "PvE focused" game that just released a shiney new set of purples?

I think i already answered your question in the post you quoted, and i wasn't being specific to any type of "focus" in my MMO. Or message board, or video site, etc..

Both daoc and planetside had excellent communities (although I wouldn't call daoc pvp focused, its a rare game with equal focus)

Of recent games war was pvp focussed and had a better community (imo) than pve focused games like wow and rift
wow is pve focused and worst community I've encounterd

But then coh was pve focused and had excellent community like daOc
Eve, well been a sandbox, it had the best and the worst simultaneously

EQ is in interesting one, started out good like daoc, then when they added all the instanced garbage ended up full of elitist jerks.

In my experience, the importance of gear has a far worse effect on community than the importance of pvp.

So you didnt back a game that you clearly want to play because some random fanbois annoyed you.. that really dont make any sense at all..

What if because you didnt back the game does not get released.. you will never get to play it.

All i can say is this.

Ignore the player hype for games, not just this game but any game. Read up on what the game is about on kickstarter and make up your own mind if you want to back or not. Simple as that.

Um sorry i have to disagree with this. You guys have been getting everything you have been wanting since 2004, and that is why mmo's are in the state of decay that they are in this day in age. And again has to do with community, which even you have stated has gone down hill. The self gratitude era, i win button era, and give me give me with no work at all era is what selfish acts that led to the crap produced today.

And for many here, community is still a huge part of mmo's.

Some of us are sick of these3 week long stories that dry up and leaves a hollow game, the hand held easy mmo's, being lead around on a leash mmo's, f2p pieces of garbage, eye candy is more important than quality mmo's, non-linear games, lack of exploration and crafting, loot based systems, missing features, lack of player and developer creativity, 3 hour max level games, and games that are claiming to be mmorps but are nothing more than piss poor console rpg's. Do believe the other side has been more than a little selfish.........wouldnt you?

well those so called 'press' who never wrote a letter about daoc due to the fact they didnt get paid writing it now doing some wierd backlash whine about the game they dont get paid to write about.

It how I see it and most text  is just bullock from that press...

MMORPG trend that kills me is this idea that MMOrpgs need to be designed
in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOrpgs.
People that like single player game stay there
    Dont ruin my mmorpg....

Honestly, I thought this too.  This post smells of Mark Jacobs and so did the article by Ben Kuchera  You can filter your email down to nothing if you choose.  But hey, we're all role players and have trained our brains to believe the fantasy.

To be honest, I wont touch another Mark Jacobs project.   I think he'd make a good Ring Master or Illusionist... I'd donate if he'd just go away.   I just feel bad for the average Schmo's that put their hard earned money into something that's not going to be remotely close to what's being promised.

I have to admit, that I am sick of the CU threads that keep getting made about the exact same thing. It reminds me of a long trip with children that keep saying "are we there yet?"  I'm not planning on buying the game, it just doesn't interest me, so it's not like they've lost a potential backer or sale but I am asking myself now "if this game make's its KS goal, are we going to be constantly flooded with spam until it finally releases? Do I honestly want the KS to succeed at all and have to put up with the spam for years to come?"

So I think it would be great if the fans kept the spam to a minimum and the game made it's KS.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

If you dont realize that people are going to be more hyped up during the last 24 hours of a kickstarter campaign than they would be at any other time except for probably the week before launch....
