It would be a game only few would play though. Twitch flight combat tend to not be as fun as it sounds... I mean, off the top of your head, name me three succesfull (succesfull as in games most gamers would know) direct contol flight games of the last decade.
Yes, that's because it is still growing after 10y and the most innovative MMO out there which noone till this day has equalized.

When I play Eve i dont play as a pilot, i play as the captain of my ship, with my crew under my orders.. if i say: target those ship, they target, if i say, shot that ship, my crew attacks...
If you want a space shooter there are other games, this is a RPG... you a spaceship commander, not a xwing pilot
it's the best and most innovative MMO ever made!
I agree EVE is a great mmo for its genre.. my point is the devs tend to over hype their ideas and talk about stuff that never gets implemented.
calling EVE the most innovative mmo out there is just showing how crappy the mmo industry is.

Trailers and movies that are nothing like what it is in reality. PR eyecandy doesn't make a good game.
Spreadsheets in space is not an exciting game or a good RPG. Didn't you hear? They ran rigged roleplaying events. So much for "sandbox" if it is all just on rails.
No good/popular ones were made in the last decade.
