Hmm, just for laughs I clicked on all the SB adds I could find today, and not one took me to anything that remotely resembles "porn" as I've seen on other sites on the Internet.

It did however "blue screen" my laptop when I clicked on the "play now" lnk so I decided to take that as a sign.

    No SB for me.

First rule of Advertising ... Sex Sells ...

Second rule ... anything that can stir contorversy is a good thing .. because good or bad press .. is still press

in a way you are feeding the advertising and generating interest ... Simple .

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

Your response was overly sensitive but I agree with the ban.Whislt the post had a kernel of truth in it...that kernel has already been pointed out and argued over with posts much less baiting and snide.

Really?Coz I think that's more a indictment of the people involved than the ads personally....

I'm not against erotic content in general but these puppies go suspiciously into the direction of baby sex: eyes 3 times bigger than mouth give them an outlook of 6 years old girls, but then with boobs 10 times bigger than the rest. C'mon, this *is* pervert and ridiculous all the same. If you really consider this smart advertising then be asured you've lost a potential customer here.

Big thanks to squidinc for the links, without them these adds are not quite easy to block with addblock plus. This crap made me so upset that I was actually considering to leave mmorpg.com entirely.

At the very least, these ads are NSFW. Let the AdBlockers roll... and MMORPG.com people can whine about reduced ad revenue (since those two things are tied, apparently).
  • VyntVynt Member UncommonPosts: 757
They're fine. I see people every day wearing less than these ads. Earlier today, saw a hot pink hair girl walking down the street, showing way more skin than these ads. People are just too prudish.

+1 (unless the ad shows a guy lighting up a smoke, that crap is just wrong!)

Unfortunately these filters don't cover all adds from this site. I added this line too:

    http://images.mmorpg.com/images/20130#

This is the number all lines have in common.

Seems to work so far (until they change the base address).

I'm a adult and mature enough to know sex happens, and that sex sells. In the end how much worse can it be then the majority of genacidal hacknSlash MMO's that focus on meaningless mass murder for fun? Is death and violence > then sex?

The amount of time I spend veiwing and reading this website (mmorpg.com) have dropped since Scarlet Blade has been advertizing here. Same as Wartune. I am tired of seeing the Ads and feeling uncomfortable, and I am tired of my Wife and Daughters seeing the Ads and wondering if Dad is looking at Porn.

The Staff here has about 2 more weeks before I stop visiting this website (mmorpg.com) for good.

Only thing the heavy advertising did was make me wonder if I accidentally click on a link to Scarlet Blade instead.

Well, that and wonder just how much money Aeria and/or the developers are putting into advertising this game, and how much they expect to get out of it, because I see posters for Queen's/Scarlet Blade at bus stops where I live as well. The only other MMO I've seen with this level of advertising was the Cataclysm expansion for WoW.

They're really trying to catch the F2P whales that will pay for their 200$ costume boxes with this one.

Seriously, go look at their shop, it's Insane.

    Apparently so.

But look at it this way, this thread is the living proof there actually are people on the internet that dont know what porn is.

Yikes, I did give the game a spin a couple weeks back, but never looked at the cash shop. That's... just yikes. For $200 I could probably convince a modder to just rip and port all the clothes from Scarlet Blade into another game of my choice.

And I'd probably still get a better gaming experience for it.

Enough is enough. The above links don't work always (so it's not as easy as just using an addblocker und throw in a few lines). Meanwhile I'm really pissed of these SB ads. In the next few minutes I'll delete my mmorpg.com account. Don't say good bye, say thanks to the company behind Scarlet Blade. I'm not going to come back soon.

I want to see how people feel about these.

I've already written several posts and a review of Scarlet Blade. During my review of Scarlet Blade I even pointed out the falseness that these are stating such as "Most Anticipated MMO of 2013" which was the main one I focused on. I in no way mind any of the other ads however, this game is in no way a highly anticipated game; let alone most anticipated of 2013.

I understand sex appeal to pull in the audience for the game; it happens all the time regardless of media outlet. However, when you actually play the game Scarlet Blade it's a horribly linear game with no innovative features. Even the graphics are subpar compared to todays standards.

Will my distaste change the outcome depending on whether or not MMORPG.COM will removed them? No

I really can't say anything to change their minds. They're a company who retains their revenue on on ads so that's how they stay online. However I'd remove the false ads such as "most anticipated" if I were them. It's a lie to their potential customers and when you hype a person up beyond the actual value of the game (especially for F2P) you're going to completely disappoint them. Which will lead to you not getting money from them.

I agree with your assessment of the game it's an extremely mediocre game trying to hide behind a veneer of scantily clad women.

I also agree with the whoel most anticipated thing but arguing to remove the tag lien fromt he ads is a quagmire because even if onlya small group of sad teenage, weeaboo virgins is Highly anticipating it, it still amkes it a valid statement for that group lol.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is. It's fine if an ad has a guy cleaving something in half with an axe, but if there's half of a female nipple, it's a problem.
