Frustrated with customers angry about worsening client bugs and balance problems, PGI the developer of MechWarrior online deletes it's general discussion forum and disables the ability to create polls.

While funneling discussion into appropriate feedback forums seems an benificial goal, for those that are familar with PGIs troubled MechWarrior Online game and forums it's clear that this is more an effort to dilute customer complaints and disperse negative community conversations into less visible corners.

Well, the General Forum was a disorganized trashpile of topics and they did split it up into several subfourms - one of them a "Poll + Suggestion" Forum.
Lets see how it works out.
Complaints have still many places to be spoken out as well as consent - like in the Patch-Feedback-Forums.

looks like the first try .... creating a shitstorm subforum - named hot topic heatsink - .... could not hide the anger and frustration about broken gamemechanics, endless unfixed bugs, lack of content, placeholdersytems becoming the standard, lying to the customers and sacrifising them for the "soon" to be in the game target audience
a great example of a company in fear of its players (opinions)
no matter from wich angle i try to look at it .... the Mechwarrior name just does not fit very well
from a forum point of view it is NorthCorea Online and from the gameplay point of view World of Robodeathmatch would fit much better
I have to agree with others the removal of general discusion was done just to remove a central area that kept on showing the same game issues over and over, yes general could have multiple post's on 1 subject but it was also the main meeting place of the forums.
In the interest's of improving the forums (PGI's words) they created 55 sub forums not including the different language sub forums to streamline the user experience (i know i was confused by this one), this left then 1 website subforum where you could place comments in 1 thread, if you made a thread outside the offical thread it is locked, if you post in the poll section asking if ppl want to have the general thread back it's locked, if you post in the offical thread and it goes slightly offtopic, or is seen as too negative against the decision made by PGI then the moderator's are deleating the posts.
One of the problems as well with the 55 subforums is it's even to complicated for some of the moderator's as they are posting in the wrong subforums.
The last time i have seen a forum so poorly managed it was in the early launch of SWTOR, but even they didn't stoop so low as to remove general discussion completly.
My theory is that PGI is not a game company at all, but a mental health service corporation that teaches programming skills to low-IQ sociopaths as some kind of therapy.
It really is the only explanation that makes sense.
