well idk... young boys tend to go on the internet to search for porns. And in such sites full-nude ads is pretty common.

@to the comment above, the beach does show more skins, however it isn't as suggestive or seductive as the ads. "It's hot in here, let's remove the armor". Really?

Ads that catch minors in the crossfire happen all the time. From alcohol to movie trailers to YouTube and Facebook. It will happen. The key to keeping things like ads from having the desired effect on kids called are laws and especially parents. They are suppose to be the first responders to keep Marty Minor from going any further.

IF these Ads are targeted at 14 year old kids what age group is the pron industry targeted at ? Obviously these Ads have an effect on people. This is the 5th or 6th thread about them and people have been talking about them for 2 months now ?

If you've tried the game at all just to see what all the talk is about the Ad did it's job.

Regarding the title:  no.  Evony had the most absurd MMO advertising ever.  Scarlet Blade shows pictures of scantily-clad women, but that really is what the game is all about.  Evony had such ads for a Civilization-style game, with a tagline along the lines of "Play secretly, my lord".  And Scarlet Blade presumably at least made their own artwork for the ads; Evony grabbed pictures from random sites unrelated to gaming.

I'm not defending Scarlet Blade, really; only saying that, contrary to the title, there have been more absurd MMO ads.

Ohhhh man.  I remember that now.

Why did you have to remind me?  Well, there goes my faith in humanity for another few years.

It would be nice if more MMO marketers took the high ground and didn't chuck in all the pointless cheesecake.  But then they wouldn't be marketers, so....

Only thing that really bugs me about the ads are those faces....Good, god, it's like they put a creepy antique English doll's head on a stripper's body.  They even have the shiny doll hair....it's like some kind of sick doll fetish ad.  Imagery torn straight from the nightmare's of very confused teenage boys.

If Norman Bates were a real person he would play Scarlet Blade.

My daughter recently watched the trailer for Evil Dead on tv. Do you really think they aired a rated R trailer or a rated PG-13 trailer on tv? A ad for a M 17+ game can and will be edited for the audience of a certain venue. The venue here has a guideline age of 13 years of age. Therefor the ads will be tailored for a 13 year old to see, but meant for older members.

If you want naked girls, go play the Utherverse..  and make your naked dreams come true.

This is nothing even remotely close to that.

I dont say this often but honestly, if i were a woman I'd seriously consider visiting this site again.  Its one thing to have a bit of scantily clad women on the box art.  This Scarlet Blade thing is just over the top.

But its not like this is the most 'even' place to express a free opinion. $$$$$$ Rules right?

Given that most people have ad-blockers... I doubt they get any (or much) revenue from merely displaying the ads... you need to actually visit the site (click the ad) in order to acknowledge that you have seen the ad.  Otherwise they wouldn't give a hoot whether people had ad-blockers on or not.

The fact that you notice the ad... distasteful or not... means the ad was sucessful.  The whole point is to get you to notice it... that's 90% of the battle in sales.

Just trying to get a feel for how widespread (if at all) my opinion on it is.

I've heard some users say they tried it, so it's not much of a stretch to think that if the game is set up correctly some of the traffic from this site has also generated revenue for them.

Don't know if I consider it the most absurd advertising (it's tough to beat Evony), but certainly it has created more forum threads (like yours) and responses (like mine) than any game's advertising here in recent memory.  I'm sure some of the lesser-known MMORPGs advertising here would love for 5-10 forum threads to crop up about their game (positive or not.)  Those types of threads (like this thread) generate installs, which have the potential to generate revenue.

So hopefully you're just poking at something you find ridiculous, and not genuinely hoping they'll fail, because you're sorta helping them out with this thread. :P

Moved to Scarlet Blade forum. Locked because there are already threads on the matter in here.
