Question about the expansion story.

DoushiDoushi Member UncommonPosts: 96

My question about the story in the expansion is this, Does every class has its own story and if they do, are do the stories continue where they were left at lvl 50, or is the story a small spinoff suited for the new planet?

No new class stories, just generic quests for everyone like your regular planet.

Not exactly true and I'm sure you know that.  The only thing the story has in common with the "regular" planet stories is that it is a single story for each faction.  The similarities end there.  The story is done in a MUCH better way.  It's like saying the Lord of the Rings movies are basically the same as that Ewe Boll Dungeon Siege movie.  Technically they're both fantasy movies but in terms of execution they aren't in the same league.

There are 2 stories, one for republic and one for imperials.  However ALL the dialogue is tailored to whatever class you're playing.  You're not going to get the same dialogue as a smuggler that you do as a guardian and the entire time there were zero of the occasional generic dialogue responses we all became used to during leveling.  Each story will take you about 5-10 hours to get through whereas I can get through an old planet story in a couple of hours.  Makeb has almost 1.5 hours of cutscenes alone per faction.  The cutscenes are also all extremely well done and the planet design is phenomenal.  I had to stop and stare at the scenery a number of times.   It's clearly a step above any of the previous planets.

My advice to the OP is to ignore the opinions on this forum since many of the people who post here don't even play the game.  Check out some previews online and then make your decision:

Same story, but different cutscenes for every class, mentioning your past paths. Worth the money imo.

Reps and Imps have two completely different stories though

Thank you, thats all really there is to it, you may want to spin it however you like but it doesnt make it anything it isnt.

And of course you weren't trying to spin at all when you said "like your regular planet."

No other planet has a story as deep and immersive as Makeb.

Which class did you play through it with?

Glad we could save you. You are missing only the most beautiful planet, like the poster above said -  the best and the most immersive from planetary stories and unique quests with macrobinaculars and seeker droids :)

Oh I forgot... it's also the most challenging planet... it might scare you :)

Ahhh, sweet, "deep and immersive". 2 words that ran from deep=annoying and bad to "non immersive"=clouds are too close to the ground.

Next time stick to the facts:

    1. no class stories

    2. single story for each faction

This paid update is not worth 20$.

So you are picking and choosing reviews which match your point of view... now how objective this is? LOL

So you say that thread is accurate?  Sure, let's look:

"Same story? I will refrain from spoilers, but I am most certain that no other planet that we have come across in this game holds the same drama as Makeb."

"NPCs do interact with you differently based on choices you make. I am not going to give spoilers, but for example, Darth Marr acts quite a bit differently towards my Operative as he does towards my friend's Operative."

"I think Makeb was actually a step in the right direction for many reasons"

"The expansion very much demonstrates that there is more to the development team and the product then what they had to show us at launch."

"2.0 is the best pacth this game have seen."

"The expansion is fantastic value for money."

"Makeb's cutscenes and the world are beautiful, they've really improved there."

Seems like the expansion is a success!

All I can say is I'm enjoying this expansion. The macrobinocular questline has been the biggest surprise. I've been on it for the last two nights and still havent finished it because of all the puzzle solving involved.

    Currently Playing: World of Warcraft

Its always funny how you dont pick on certain other person also. You also cherry pick in a VERY "objective way". You have a problem with me agreeing with this review and not with certain others?

Theres also a nice term for that.

And yes, compared to ANY other MMO ive played more seriously (10-12) this update is equal to free content updates in those games and is in no way shape and form worth 20$. Thats for quantity.

    Quality - read the review.

    Was I cherry picking?  Nawww.

But yes, game is doing really well right now.  6 of the 8 US servers had queues this weekend.  There were 30 instances of Makeb on my server on Sunday.  Looking forward to more content like Makeb.   It was extremely well done.
