Darkfall launches Tuesday and mmorpg.com not covering it?

goflishgoflish Springdale, ARPosts: 22Member

When darkfall announced their first planned release for DF2 mmorpg was all over it, however now that the luanch is set in stone nobody's talking about it.

I wonder if this is a sign about how crowded DF2 launch will be?

from what gameplay vids ive seen i dont think this is going to be a very popular game.  If they had made the graphics better and done away with those horrid combat animations and circle crosshair i would have given it a shot.

AV has lied about their launches so many times there is really no point in covering it.  DF:UW might be launching soon, or it might not.   mmorpg.com covered the "launch" last year when it was supposed to be happening and they announced at the last second that even though the game was ready (lol) they were going to delay launch so that it could launch on Steam because they got Greenlight.  This was, of course, another lie.

Might as well play TERA or something sort of similar. AV lost grasp on this game the second it was thought about.

lol ya ... covering a game that often cancels launches 24 hours out and nearly zero press hosting.

Totally worth devoting time to when there is possible zero story to tell or nothing offered for media outlets to show.

    You stay sassy!

If the game actually does launch, then I'm sure that they'll talk about it.  But any claims that Darkfall will do launch or update anything should be treated with suspicion until it has actually happened.

So, did ESO have a successful launch? Yes, yes it did.

If Darkfall launches and there's nobody there to hear it, did it really happen?

Truth is, there probably is no company better at de-hyping a game than Aventurine, and it shows.  Outside of the few who've been waiting for it. no one else really cares.

I tried beta, and I find that game utterly inexplicable.

Seeing as how it's beta, I was willing to give it the benefit of a doubt, but sadly, I don't think live version will change that much. The problems are too deeply ingrained in everything I tried. No matter what settings you put, the game doesn't look good and it doesn't play smooth. The interface is very user unfriendly. The animations are unforgivable. I recently tried Defiance, and while it may not be everyone's cup of tea, at least it runs smoothly, the mechanics are intuitive and easy to pick up and the whole experience is fun. The same held even in beta.

When you look at Darkfall, it looks like it's made in 2004. And quite badly at that. I'm going to hold the rest of my judgement until the game goes live, but if it doesn't change significantly, I'm afraid people will be quiting during the tutorial, without ever seeing the rest of the game.

I'm pretty sure, months ago they said they weren't releasing the game yet because they wanted to release having steam available.

Is it actually launching, or is it another "launch" that doesn't pan out, or ends up just being a paid beta that's missing any good animations, effects, abilities, etc..?

    You make me like charity

Niche game - poorly done.  I mean hell they got 4 basic classes all of which are all the same.  ALL warriors are the same, all healers, etc. except for the 1 ultimate skill which might vary.....  Other companies would be ripped to shred with how basic of a game they are trying to call new.

Oh and crowded - LOL  it will not be close to the first EU launch back in the day though they will try to tell you this was a smashing success.

Minus the bugs this game will be one of the best games released this year. It will only get better as time goes on and the game matures.

The current state of gamers; being those that love boring gameplay, repetitive questing and no-risk gaming wont appreciate this title.

I will admit that AV did de-hype this game but really... HOW MANY TIMES have people on this site been SUPER OMFG HYPED for a game and then oh guess what.. ITS GARBAGE.

This game also encourages social interaction and team work. Most MMO's today do not unless you want to do some raid content. Hell even then if you play WoW you just que for raids LOLWUT.

This game isn't for everyone I know. But its a game with risk and great reward and that to me makes playing if all the more worthwhile. Sure I can go raid in WoW and get lots of shiny purples, but really who cares. What am I gonna do with those cool purps... go kill more mobs... or beat my buds on DPS meters... what a macho bad a$$.

Think i'll play Darkfall instead. Go farm up mats for a bad ass suit of Dread Plate then grab some buddies, sail across the oceans, rape and pillage the towns of my enemies and dry hump thier corpses... ahhhhh much better.

Not to dash your hopes bro, but Vegas would sure as hell take the odds on that NOT happening....

They probally aint covering it as its not a proper release..

Tons of features are currently missing and corrding to AV wont be added until later... even half of the features in the origional DF are missing.. and all this from a game that was ready to release in nov and confirmed by AV not to need a beta test because they have done all the testing in house.. hahahaha.. so it failed to launch in nov and it needed a 6 month beta test to get to a playable state but still have tons of features missing..

cant believe they have the balls to release this but there we go.

I'd wager they are not going to cover it until it actually releases this time.  I love Darkfall, but I can completely understand why MMORPG is taking this route.
