Trying to justify it because there is violence in game doesn't really fly, if I'm not mistaken there is a trial and imprisonment system in this game to counter the violence. The real question is can people be put on trial and fined/imrprisoned for solicitation of prostitution outside of this district. If so then it fits in with the game if not then perhaps it should be considered.

You do realise there are cultures in this world WAY more assertive against sex and nudity than standard secular American culture. Yet you try to generalize based on your own narrow minded views of what the world is. I take it you've never spent anytime engrossed in the secular culture of the states, because it's no where near as prudish as you choose to believe.

Frankly considering the state of goldshire and booty bay on some servers WOW might have benifited from doing the same so they could contain the crap somewhere kids won't walk in on. But then again Blizzard's  got trade chat and they don't care. I mean it's not looking like a seedy sell out for cash like when SWTOR suddenly added bikini panties to the cash shop with F2P. It's there from the get go. DEV teams aren't stupid. It's part of the game because they think it will attract players. Even people like you and me. It leads me to question what they think we want from our games anymore?

Regardless, if people want to write off this game because of sex in the game thats for them to decide. Personally I like that type of thing, it takes the prudes out of the game, that is a plus for me.

Anyway I will admit I am surprized that people feel this way considering with how games are now a days, sex is everywhere. ESPECIALLY in JRPG's every female or even male is sexualized to extremes.

Don't really understand your generalization of Americans, sure we have prudes in America but take one trip to Vegas and you will lose all merit to your generalization.

Because scantily clad women in a video game is so much more sinful than 'murdering' countless people who have wronged you or your 'cause' in some way.  Seriously, we need to get out of the stone age here eventually.

Exaggerated anti-sex speech usually comes from puritans (religious reasons), frustrated women, fags, assexualized (or almost) nerds and overly "romantic" people (usually nerds RPers or dreamers) that see sex as a thing "vulgar" or "dirty" that breaks the romantic climate.

And stop playing a game only because in ONE place of ONE city there is a depiction of a house of prostitution (one of the most widespread institutions of mankind) is clearly exaggerated.

sure, females play too. but hell, bring dem loveboys and i bet the little ones will cry :P

Why do you think this game element wont make it to the west?

    I think it will.

You have prostitutes in movies too. How are MMORPGs different.

I find removing these game aspects close to censorship.

Have the western world really become so sensitive that people cannot accept displaying something that is happening in the world around them every day in a pc game?

Mass killing of everything that moves in the game world is ok but anything sexual is a turn off?

You might want to seek professional help.

Its strange how some people are just fine with murder, but sex disgusts them

They had better be actually naked, I need to get my animated pron from somewhere.

On a side not, from what I've seen from these screen shots etc... these girls are wearing just as much clothing as most of the "female champions" and the armor they wear. So I don't get the big deal (and btw I'm in the U.S.)

I don't see what the deal is about, all of this looks incredibly tame even compared to some western productions. There is a fine line and it has not been crossed here unlike some other games like Scarlet Blade? i think it was called.

It's just one of the role playing options, and for me, it totally fits the game if we are talking of a big city. Of course, after playing The Witcher 2, this is porn for mormons.

Anyway, you should think about it again if you consider that beheading someone is ok for your morals, and having sex isn't

Its the sexual frustration that make them want to shoot stuff......... ;)

I am really liking how AA is shaping up. I love exploring the world in an MMO - coming across new and different things and having a huge array of things you can find and do really appeal to me.

Edit - could have worded that better........ ;)

But going to sexualize games is really weak. Good, here in archeage you cant do more than going there and taking a look. Cant do anything else. Thats good. Nor are there naked npcs or some shit.

But going deeper into this would really be a problem the game market. Something like this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to search in mmos. Take a look at scarlet blade (i think thats how its called) Whats the main purpose? Right.

Aeria Games is desperate and out of money. Thats why they sunk even deeper

I know you'd attack even a tree if you could :P

Back to the topic. We are more used to the violence than sex, simply because our culture grew around it. And even I, who support sex in games and all that, don't want gratuitous sex scenes, the same way I don't like gratuitous violence. Just to put a couple of examples

If Archeage had a red district, were your character could have sex in public in front of everybody, or there were strippers displaying everything to everybody, it would be disgusting for me. However, if you could have a sexmaid in your house, or somekind of instance just for you and your perversions, I'll totally support it. Sex is as natural as sleeping, eating or even violence. Of course there must be rules about that behaviour in our society, but I consider they are much more estrict and prude than they should be. To put another example, it's as if the violent scenes in films and TV were limited to a slap or a punch, and anything else would scandalize the people.

lmao not all americans are like that..but yes majority is very...nitpicker (99%?)

red light district doesnt even matter if its fantasy or real life or even a shooter game...can be there or not, this doesnt really change anything, the game is rated 18+ in korea...

If Trion remove it i actually feel like we will be getting less stuff...so in that case for me it would be a point to not play the game and pull an ''american whine'', just like i got mad about TERA when they even tried to censor blood in one beta, stupid frogster...i liked elins...

cmon Trion hurry up and bring it all, seriously, nothing to play and nothing to do, i dont consider myself a gamer, i dont own consoles, i just want to play something for years (or long time? fun long time?)  like i did with lineage 2.

You mean, playing for years until eventually you reach max level, which is aproximately when the fun starts? Try Aion anyways, I don't know if it's fun or not, but it will take you years to find that out. Meanwhile, Archage will be released and you won't have to wait anymore.

I know it happens in reality, but it would be nice since its a game and they have woman playing to not exploit just one sex or any at all.

I mean lets not pretend prostitution in the Eno period (I'm not sure of the game's general time period) were fun places for a woman to work at.  Maybe the lore in the game is different, but in reality childern were often sold into prostitution by poor farmers or abducted. Sometimes woman had to go into it to support their familes.  They often died at a young ago due to veneral diseases or suicide.

So by all means go ahead and role play that out.

Should we pretend that faction wars and castle sieges were events of joy and fun?
