Yes. And in those days, that is the state of the art. Heck, at that time, there are less than 5 online graphical RPG (Island of Kesmai, NWN on AOL, and one on the Sierra Network).

I was there .. i loved the gold box games. But $4 per hour is too steep for me .. so i play Drakkar instead.

i do try to keep my play time to be under 2 hours per day, not always successful. But that is only about $120 a month.

My first MMO was Lineage 1 beta in 1999. I won't go through the entire list of what I've played. But I was pretty hardcore for many years. Recent MMO's are lacking though, and I haven't been "hooked" on one in a long time.

    14.1kbps?

My first modem is 1200 baud. There is no internet, and i have to dial up to local BBS for forum and stuff. Then i joined GENie (anyone knows what it is?), and there were some text games on it. BTW, it costs $6 per HOUR. I remember i have to use a program to maximize the speed of downloading text from forums, so i don't waste time reading while paying.

My first MMO experience was running from PK's outside of Brittania and hoping no one picked up the phone and disconnected me.

Yes, there are a LOT of old school players here on MMORPG.com.

You remind me of the times I was playing Mechwarrior 3 online, and I often died because my wife picked up the phone.  :D

OP your list looks pretty typical for almost all the nerds here!

I like your round about way to get us to post what we have done in the past, but I'm to old to remember. Let me just say I started playing pong on my tv before most of you were born! Yes, I'm an old nerdy fart thank you.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
