Firefall it's free, this is the main reason that brings more people to say it's better, obviusly there are many who are trying to redirect hype towards Firefall for this reason, because if these people judge Defiance overall graphics and animation as poor I don't really understand how could be possible that they like Firefall look which is worst.

firefall imho has better animiations and more solid feeling shooting mechanics not to mention 3rd and 1st person views.. only thing defiance has over it in this department is world graphics..  i actually like the look of the cartoony character models in firefall a bit more than the defiance character models.. firefall just has pretty boring PVE overall which if improved would make it a really fun game...

the jump, dodge, and sprint animations are horrid in defiance i dunno how you could defend those.

And aside from that firefall is garbage compared to this game, might i add that firefall has been in beta what...a year now?

game mechanics and gameplay itself defiance wins hands down. that and defiance feels like a much larger budget game than firefall.  was never a fan of the super boring mining via guarding the thumper.  that got old real quick.

anyway, yes your character view is akward at first, something that takes about an hour to get over.  while run and jump animations are anything but realistic, were talking about a major non factor to a game being fun or not.

It has to be said that this is simply not true, not by any stretch of the imagination, in fact Firefall is superior to Defiance when it comes to both movement and shooting mechanics which are the most important things when it comes to shooters.

I disagree.  Defiance is very light on being a shooter anyway...the system it has does work once you get use to its akward view, works quite well.  Firefall i feel is hopeless at this point, that game will forever to be in beta with a total lack of content, something defiance doesnt seem to have.

either way, firefall forums for firefall ads please.  this is the defiance froums in case you didnt notice.  the two games have only aim combat in common, nothing else.

If you are looking for a console clone PC game!
That seems to just do a cash grab on the PC side.
With No settings for F.O.V (Motion sickness will hit you:)
    No first person view setting.
No in depth PC graphics settings.
Forced to use an console user interface (UI) That is not
designed for the PC market. And with no "PC love" whatsoever from Trion.

Then this game is for you! ;)

Played for 10 minutes and got motionsick thanks to the zoomed in low field of view. Last game that was so sloppy with narrow FOV was Mass Effect 3. Atleast there you can hack the settings to fix that.

Alpha/beta testing feedback? Trion DOES NOT CARE whatsoever. Got an issue with the game? good luck with that...

I also think you might find more gold bars in garbage can, then "landmark revolution" in Defiance

these are my toughts aswell, been there allthe way thro alpha aswell and im still the same.

Actually it's completely fine to compare two games that are more or less similar with eachothers, especially if you're trying to explain some shortcomings or excellences of a game.

Downloaded the beta for the Xbox Thursday and spent several hours yesterday playing it. It's a lot of fun and I ordered it today.

I liked it.  I wouldn't consider it any kind of revolution or breakthrough and it's certianly not nearl as good as TR was (at least on first experience).

    Good Stuff:

The graphics are great, good animations, beautiful settings, etc.

Driving is really fun and there are even race tracks!  Cool.

Story and voiceovers are decent.  not great, but not terrible either.

stuff is easy to find and easy to learn.

The game's PvE focus is nice and it's cool to just jump into action with other people killing mobs.

    Needs Improvement:

Skills and Abilities.. coming from an MMORPG backgroud, i want there to be more special ability buttons to push.

All the upgrades just add X% to such and such stance.. don't seem to change the way you play much.  I'm still very early in though.

    Bad:

UI - ui is frackin terrible as mentioned.  It's not so annoying to run around and do combat, for that it's ok, but for anything else - inventory, options, etc, it's bad.

    Music - yikes.

Ammo - maybe it's just me, but i am highly annoyed by the "click to recharge ammo" thing.  Maybe i'm just used to having to buy or carry inventory of ammo.   Or just having unlimited ammo automatically.  I would much prefer some kind of "weapon cooldown" mechanic if you only want me to be able to fire off 40 shots or whatever.

I've only played for a few hours so far, so obviously i don't know everything about the game.  But those ar emy first impressions.

I"m looking forward to playing it on launch.

Game is bascally a dumbed down neutrered version of borderlands. So I didn't think much of it myself.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

Fun game, I have enjoyed playing it.  I will be interested to so how the lore all works out and the connections with the TV series.  Be interesting to see if both things survive or fail.   Or if one is successful and not the other.  Ambitious project as a whole and interesting timing as well, with the next batch of consoles around the corner.

I wanted to like it because of the sci-fi setting, but I'm really more of an RPG fan than a shooter fan.  I'm far more interested in character customization, crafting, and interior decorating than I am in getting headshots.

Still, Defiance played smoothly for me and it's well-polished.  I might pick it up if it ever goes on sale somewhere.  And I might even check out the series on sci-fi in hopes it doesn't suck.

It feels a bit like an MMO version of Borderlands, minus the first person view and insane amount and types of loot dropped.  Its not bad for a b2p game and the cash shop, so far, doesn't look to be p2w.  Mostly cosmetic stuff, xp/credit boosts and inventory space.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
