All logins and patches are now handled through Origin which must be fully installed to run SWTOR. Players have until March 31st to sign up for this ground breaking service! Starting April 1st, Pazaak and Swoop Racing will be available. Visit any one of the fully functional casinos to learn more! Players who opt to share personal information, datamined information, and personal identity with 3rd parties will receive 5 alternate custom racers as a thank you! All users who agree to the EULA irreversibly opt in, for their convenience.
If I had to guess, it's probably something the lines of:
"Now we are bringing the joys of the cash shop to our subscribers! In addition to the subscription model, we now give you the option to buy better loot, and to unlock all those UI tabs we have now hiden from you! Enjoy!"
In all seriousness, though, I'm guessing it's pretty standard stuff. A new flashpoint, or battlegrounds most likely. It would be cool if they released more force-specific stuff, maybe Revanite abilities. Who knows.
1. Subscribe to TOR and receive one free game from Origin... your pick... similar to SimCity, subscribe for 6 months and you can play them all for free.
2. Buy one cartel pack and get one free - hurry up - expires soon /grin
3. New feature... companions can sabotage your mission (class mission included) and defect (aka abandon you).
4. New cartel market option - advanced barber shop will offer change of sex of your companions.
5. SWTOR forums officilally close and all threads are re-routed to MMORPG forum as default.
To continue playing, you will need to deposit Cartel Coins in slot machines, just for a chance at a longer interval of playtime. Subscribers will also need to use this.
It's odd that Hickman's State of the Game said little besides the usual PR, and that content post Makeb would pretty much only by QOL improvements (cartel barberdhop) and now they are trying to build up some hype.
Supposedly the invited press were made aware of whatever the big new thing(s) is/are at the begining of March.
I guess we will find out next week.
I still like the long odds on a relaunch of Black Prophecy grafted onto ToR.
Not sure what else could cause me to explode, and why the news would have to be meted out over the course of a few days.
Tangential - It's funny watching ToRWars and Darth Hater "out-scooping" each other.
oh wait the most spectacular thing I could think of:
They bought the dead rotting code of SWG from Sony, paid with a McRib sandwich for Smedley, and they will reboot and integrate SWG into SWTOR and call it SWGOR Galaxies of the Old Republic
Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what
it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience
because it lacks a few features you prefer."
John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in
the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you
playing an MMORPG?"
Well it's not the Makeb release date and it's a few things , that does sound quite exciting!
Cheers,
BadOrb.

1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
If they did something like add a half dozen "real" alien races to play, extend content on all maps, or get in a real space game, I'd start up again and go through a new class or two.
Darth Hater has seen it's popularity plunge along with the game's decline. At this point they are sucking and need something to bring people to the site.
This is the modus operandi of SWTOR: unfounded hope for salvation. If SSSP is already that far along, I can't imagine it would be anything spectacular. The most mundane of features confound Bioware, there's no way they added some complex space game revamp.
Originally posted by Manolios i hope something like a ''real f2p model'' as tera's model for example. nothing else about swtor cares me anymore
maybe they get rid of some of heavy F2P restrictions.. like the warzone restriction, hide headslot or display titles.. wouldn´t hurt
Not being lv 55 is a pretty significant gimp for F2P'ers, so the restrictions won't really make much sense. Any new FP / WZ would be off limits, and any rewards would be purple (restricted) and min_lv 55 to boot.
Could be .. but the freemium model they use seems to be annoying intentionally to force someone to subscribe. I'd be hella surprised if they lift restrictions.
How about a new instanced hanger on the fleet, where each guild can have an unmodifyable cookie cutter guild ship? Zzz... hehe
How about a new instanced hanger on the fleet, where each guild can have an unmodifyable cookie cutter guild ship? Zzz... hehe
oh my that sounds more than likely... it just might be another instance to travel to, with a table and chairs, guild bank access plus static window view into space - voila, guild capital ships are here!
ZZzzz indeed...
I´d rather have guild city building and sieges like in Age of Conan, that would rock - in SWTORs version, building guild space stations and ships and fight it out in space of course.

That was where the GCW updates were going in SWG before the ax. Temporary GCW decoration for player cities that could be destroyed due to invasion; flags, barriers, gun towers, spawned and patroling troops, etc. etc.. This was to add to Base Busting system already installed.
But TOR market research said we didn't want that kind of "reading" and "complexty".

the super secret space project is finally ready
now EA suits can take refuge from angry players on their very own space station
and since they are now out of reach, they can finally let the moral inhibitions of our society behind
finally, they can set the prices , as THEY want them
they lost another one? cant they just have him stuffed ,and pretend, that he is still there?
that would be my plan A
